new to this series. Need some help.

Hi everyone. Not sure how active these discussions are but if you’re curious about me read my bio. I use The Elder Scrolls wiki, mainly.
So I just bought the first Mass Effect for my Xbox One. Never once played a single Mass Effect game in my life.

What are some things I can do in my play through of the first game that will give me a better experience in the sequels? Like side quests, decisions, etc. Who to kill and who not to kill etc. I don’t mind spoilers too much but please try to avoid them. Also what are your thoughts on Andromeda? Is it as bad as people made it out to be?

Why not?

Why are there no hover boards in mass effect? Surely as soon as humanity discovered mass effect physics the first port of call would be to design and manufacture our very own Marty Mcfly’s hover board! Maybe mass effect 5 could include one as the protagonist gets chased off by a group
of greasers lead by a new and improved Conrad Verner who has legally changed his name to biff.

Holy Heck! I can't believe this!

(HEAVY SPOILERS FOR ANTHEM AHEAD, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK)

If you're a Mass Effect fan and don't give a fuck about Anthem then you can read right ahead

ANTHEM and MASS EFFECT could have taken place in the same UNIVERSE! And no i'm not talking about the N7 armor

In the ending after the credits scene, they've captured an alien scout that killed two guards before being taken down. It was brought in on a stretcher covered in a blanket. When the blanket was removed, the alien lying down looked like a PROTHEAN. Of course the people in Anthem dont know its real name so they call them the 'Urgoth' instead. I'm still not so sure about this but the big reveal in this scene made me think that this could be bigger, and it was actually a prothean. You should check it out for yourself by clicking on this link: https://youtu.be/TbqUG3Q9A8M on 23:00 mark

If THIS is a prothean then godbless bioware. This has been a prequel to Mass Effect in disguise since the protheans lived like thousands of years before the events of mass effect, so no wonder the protheans were able to travel such great distances feom star systems to star systems.

Written Dialogues

I am not able to see written dialogues while taking to anyone in Crew or during the mission. This is a very bring problem as sometime it's tough to chose a dialogue without understanding what the other one said. Is there any way to enable them? If yes, then please tell.

FemShep?

I’ve played through a bunch of times and always a male. Is the dialogue different for a FemShep? (excluding LIs of course) Like do the characters regard you in a different light for being female or is it relatively the same?

Saddest Companion Death?

I actually just picked up Mass Effect for the first time about a year ago, but since then I have played through it nine times through all three games. Experimenting with paragon and renegade playthroughs also paragade and renegon in later plays. But no matter how many times I play through it, I always shed a tear or two when Mordin is up in The Shroud and he starts singing. Mordin is hands down in my humble opinion the saddest companion death in the trilogy. Non companion wise Anderson’s death on the Citadel (especially if you convince TIM to commit suicide) tore me up the first time I saw it. He spent the whole third game trying to keep Earth somewhat salvageable, just to expire right before he could see all his blood, sweat, and tears pay off. What’s some of your guys’ saddest deaths in the game? Companion and NPC ?

Mordin

I trust you guys, on the mission cureing the krogen, I don't want to kill mordin and I do want the salarians on my side, I know you can prevent mordin from doing it and trick the krogen there cured and have the salarians on your side, how high do I need to have my reputation up?

Shephard death

I don't get it, Shepard was dead for 2 years and than came back, why didn't anyone ask him is there a afterlife and what's it like, or does everything go black, or whatever.

Mass Effect's Continuation

Seems BioWare is still very confident in that we'll be getting more ME games in the future, which is only a good thing.

What I find interesting in the GameSpot's article is what Mark Darrah states: that they have limitless possibilities with the future of Mass Effect, with both Andromeda *and* ME3 as valid starting points for the next game's development.

Hopefully Anthem does well enough in its sales that EA doesn't get any ideas about shutting down BioWare before we can get to see another game released in this brilliant franchise.

ME2 Save Imports

So back in late 2017 I played through ME1 and ME2 on insanity, in order to complete the trilogy with my "canon" Shepard after deleting all of my other saves. But after completing ME2, I never got to starting with ME3 and I'm now in the process of playing through ME1 and ME2 again by using New Game+ with the previous saves.

Even though I've played through the trilogy countless times, I can't quite remember how ME2 save imports work in ME3. My question is, if I play through the already existing ME2 save as a NG+ and then start a ME3 playthrough, will the NG+ override the save and the decisions within that career, or will there be two separate careers available when starting ME3 with a ME2 save import?

Best Companion Sub-Plot?

All of your companions throughout the original trilogy grow up in some way, shape, or form. Starting with Garrus, Ashley, and Liara in ME1 (not counting Wrex for obvious reasons but no spoilers), ME2 you add a bunch of ‘friends’ to your list, and ME3 is basically everyone coming back one final time. So the discussion is, which companion in your opinion progresses the most and which one has the most interesting sub plot? In my humble opinion it’s head and shoulders Garrus. From going from a troubled C-Sec officer to a merc killer trying to be Shep to a Reaper advisor his story progression arc is amazing.

Anthem Post-Demo Report

The endless load screens and server login problems that had plagued last week’s VIP demo were fixed, and this last one had no more trouble with that. The game servers were still being tweaked, shut down, and restarted, and that accounted for some crashiness both back to the menu and CTD, but that was pretty much the worst of it. Any other issues I noticed were all things confirmed fixed in the release version.

I spent time in each type of javelin, and ended up enjoying the handling of the Colossus a lot more than I expected to. The Storm is my hands-down favorite, but my number two spot just got filled, surprisingly, by a tank. The Infiltrator was fun to fly, but its combat mechanics will appeal to people who like agile assassin-type characters. That’s not my playstyle, but I can tell people are going to have a lot of fun with it. The Ranger is sort of middle-of-the-road, but it’s intended to be, so that’s fine. The Storm is my go-to. A flying ball of elemental destruction that can blink out of harm’s way in an instant. It was the most entertaining suit of its kind that I’ve ever played with. Flying it was ridiculously fun. More of that, please!

I have a pretty decent rig, and the game ran smooth as glass at a locked 60 fps on ultra with no difficulties. The game world is *gorgeous* and filled, even in the small area we were exploring, with unexpected surprises... like a massive tree with Numenorian-scale statuary halfway up it’s trunk. Would have taken a little longer to notice that if I hadn’t been waiting on a boss to respawn and was hovering my way up and around the tree just to look at it. Surprise giant stone aliens!

Fort Tarsis is also really well done, and changes between day and night with an amazing sky view. It’s going to be player customizable, and I can’t wait to see what options become available. Some of the smaller object textures are a little iffy, but if it’s possible to mod this game, someone will feel compelled to fix that even if BioWare doesn’t. I can understand them not wanting to make anyone’s console attempt to melt down with large texture files, but my machine can take it, and I want ALL THE DETAIL. 😄

I was starting to get a little bored with our playground by the end yesterday, but between these two demos and the closed Alpha, I’ve logged around 55 hours in Anthem. That map was about as explored as a map can get. Having the entire game world to play in is going to be fantastic. All my javelins and my level were utterly maxed out. That was handy for tackling the ash titans that spawned yesterday from a shaper storm. The biggest variety of titan had a major attack that involved its chest opening up and a massive fiery beam shooting out! You really just don’t feel like a proper freelancer until you’ve been Harbingered in the face by one of those things. It was glorious. 😂

So, yeah, I’m in for the release version. I have a great bunch of people on Discord to squad with, I’ve already had loads of fun, and I’m expecting to have loads more. Anthem will, of course, not be everyone’s cup of tea, but for those of us who have been enjoying it, it’s going to be a party in armored suits.

Anthem...boy it's rough

So I have played the anthem demo and I have to say bioware dropped the ball and shot fifty times in the balls. They claim you can play solo but even on easy difficulty you get swarmed by enemies shooting you in all directions and it's very clear bioware made this to only cater to the multiplayer audience. Because you know EA. and the HUD is god awful you barely know where everything is and the icons blend with the scenery making it hard to find where your going. And the world is just boring. im not invested in this universe. The graphics are severely downgraded and the controls are also jankey. So I think bioware will either A. fix this no man's sky style or B. Bioware become another victim of EA hopefully it's the first not the latter
