Playing through the trilogy makes me grow closer and closer to each character. Unfortunately i kill kaidan almost everytime. Is he worth keeping in the end?
Kaiden seemed to think about/ponder things more than Ash did, and it's up to you whether you want to have a soldier or a sentinel in ME3
I save Him then i decide what i will do with him (kill or take with)
Yeah I like ash you find out about her family in ME3 and how everyone looks up to her. So I always keep her alive. I only kept kadind alive once to romance him and get an achievement.
I go back and forth between the two depending on what type of shepard I'm playing. They both have great aspects and not so great aspects. Tomato tomatoe situation.
In regards of getting all bonus powers.... the only way to unlock Reave and Barrier as bonus powers in ME3 is to talk to a recruited Kaidan..... so at least 1 playthrough is worth the try.
Both Ash and Kaidan become more of a tag-along than a sidekick in ME3, for me at least. Both seem to stay away from the rest of the crew, ok.. Kaidan plays some Poker with James, but even Javik is way more socalizing. They feel somewhat misplaced. Ashley is a bit too .... conservative ... to me..... still talking about humans first and stuff.... and Kaidan still doesn't know where he belongs.
I killed Ash more times than I would want to count..... you can give him a try. Bonus Power Collector ftw!
Marolf, I agree that they both feel thrown into 3. I think it's because of the choice you make during the citadel attack.
Yeah I know, but it still feels badly implemented. Remember the scene after your 2nd dream sequence (after Tuchanka)? Laira asks whats bothering you and depending on your answer you mourne the one you lost on Virmire back in ME1. It's a great secene, but this mourne has more flair and depth than any other conversation with a Virmire Survivor on the SR2. Just feels rushed and not thorough.
Yeap, I get the same feeling that inclusion of Ash/Kaidan in ME3 was half-patch job, just to fill framework of the game with whatever content was easiest. However I have to say that Ash looks really charming unlike typical army grunt in ME1, but that's only me.
I like having crew members on board to talk (well except that highly annoying reporter), but unlike Kasumi (which has some truly epic punch lines to share) Ash/Kaidan bring nothing really fun (OK Ash get drunk once) or different otherwise.
I let die Ash on Virrmire everytime Im playing and Ive got same problem, if she's really worth to be alive not Kaidan, he seems much more useful as for his bioticks and as for story, well he was boring butAsh wasnt even sympatic. I probably never find out what so special about her but if you are seeking for achievments try Kaidan once 😊
Kaidan isn't more useful than Ash in ME3. If you truly believe that, then you've clearly never leveled her to be a sniper and given her a good SR. Take the skill in her class tree that gives the damage bonus to sniper rifles, and get her the Black Widow SR. She'll mow down more guys and a lot faster than Kaidan can.
In terms of what the OP is asking here, it doesn't make much difference either way. Both of them are MIA for half of the game. I think the only reason they were even put into ME3 is try to make your import file seem like it has more of an influence on the game than it actually does, and because they didn't want to/didn't have the time to come up with new characters for squaddies. Think about it....aside from James EVERY squaddie option you have(not including DLC) in ME3 was in a previous ME game. In most cases as a squaddie too. EDI is the only one you couldn't take with you on missions in a previous game, but she was still a significant character in ME2.
What do you think?
