Newbies in ME3 multiplayer
Newbies in ME3 multiplayer
OK. I was getting to this post quite a while. Of course compared to guys who played ME3multi for 5 years I'm also a newbie because I didn't. Still I have all gear, tons of everything, hundreds millions of cr. I'm most definitely NOT best shooter player around, but I feel some issues have to be addressed. There is massive influx of new players in recent weeks and months - talking PC.
I would like to ask new guys to keep few things in mind:
1. DON'T jump into Silver or higher matches straight from the beginning.
It's real plague. Even Chaos God Nurgle himself can't spread as fast. On Gold+ you'll be kicked almost immediately (I never kick anyone because I was treated many times very badly by some self-righteous jackasses without even being last at the end and saving whole team on at least few occasions just to be kicked straight away after the game...). I know why you're doing that. You want credits, credits and more credits. Believe me, playing 3 Bronze matches is much faster, yields more credits and exp than one Gold - especially if one top player has to save remaining 3 all the time because they don't have consumables and endurance (no equipment to speak of).
2. DON'T cheat.
If you cheating and nobody knows about it, fine with me as long as it does not affect the game play. I joined many games in past few weeks where folks were running with Missile Launcher glitch or one shot enemies mod. There is many mods and tweaks, but don't ruin the fun for the rest of folks. It's counterproductive in the end. Especially for newbies as you'll never learn anything. Want to cheat outrageously, run some insane mods where Platinum looks like Bronze match - get private lobby. Doing it on purpose, in public game - you deserve to be stick on a pike. Period.
3. DON'T camp is the extraction area!
Just DON'T. It shows that you know nothing about game mode. It may work on Bronze and couple Silver maps. But it does not work on Gold+ and Hazard maps like Ghost and Glacier. Why you shouldn't camp? Because you'll be swamped in enemies. They will pulverize you into subatomic particles and teammates who rush to help will end in the same way. Round 11 (extraction) is not about killing everything that moves - enemies will spawn Endlessly. It's about surviving until Shuttle is ready to take you back. Help teammates cut path to extraction zone, defend choke point, lure enemies AWAY from extraction area and move into it when clock is at ~15 seconds (or 30-40 sec for Geth Juggernaut).
4. On objective rounds help the team.
Don't go Gung Ho-lonewolf. On Bronze and some silver maps it can work. On Gold+ sooner you finish the objective, less problems you'll encounter (again enemies spawn endlessly on objective rounds, even if you kill 1000, 10000 more will appear).
5. Get at least some decent gear for Gold and unlock all consumables.
Some weapons are waste of time on Gold+. Example: M-8 or M-3 damage output is non-existent on such difficulty level. There is so much armor and shields that low-tier weapons are more liability that help. Return to Pt.1 for more information. :P Without good amount of consumables you're a liability*.
* - I'm fully aware there is about 0.000000001% of population which can do Platinum with M-3 only and no consumables, but I'm talking here normal human beings. :D :P
6. Mash SPACE key if you're down.
Give teammates chance to revive you. It's so infuriating on Gold - on Platinum it usually doesn't happen as team play is much better - when you rush to help and somebody doesn't even bother with prolonging his life. Again - liability and waste of time.
I'm sure there is more and feel to add, but couple things I had to share because it was eating me.
