Now I know the Andromeda Initiative leaves the Milky Way prior to ME:3, but I really hope there aren't any real true non believers when it comes to the existence of the reapers. Especially when it comes to squad members and other main characters (tempest crew etc.). I think if there is a reaper denier it would make them seem kind of dumb and possibly incredibly unlikeable, especially to the player who knows for a 100 percent certainty that they do exist. What are you thoughts, they have to mention them at some point some way right?
I disagree. It has to be mentioned solely on a basis that Asari prepared for the contingency of Reaper invasion. Reading between the lines. I'm fully confident that AI was at least partially conceived as a project to save Council Races from total extinction in a event of potential Reaper invasion which was impossible to predict precisely and yet it was imminent threat kept under wraps by all major governments.
But why only the Asari....
I go along that the AI initially was what is told in the recruiting vids... a private endeavor out of curiosity and to reach new limits.
I know that After Priority Thessia the Asari Councilor mentions preparations for continuation of the Species must be considered..... yet this is way after the launch... maybe we see a 2nd Asari Ark in a DLC that arrives some months after us, refugees from the Reaper War, but i doubt the Asari would have any significant production capability besides what they send to the crucible.
It is quite possible that after Sovereigns Attack this 'Adventure' was turned into said backup plan, but right now, it's fan fiction that eats up our patience... at least mine^^.
According to the timeline the AI was founded in 2176, long before anyone (that we know of) knew anything about the reapers other than that they're a myth along with who knows how many other scary stories.
There is little point arguing about the plot of a game we know relatively little about, especially its plot. We know the public big picture, but this is talking about hushed big and small picture plot points that we have little to go on. I think BioWare knows what it's doing and the game is going to mention some aspects of the original trilogy based, at least, on the fact that this is a continuation of that universe and is a part of it. The Reaper scene may come up, but we won't know until March 21, if someone speeds through the story over here in North America or reads the official guide book and posts it all online. I might personally find out some time in April after wasting many hours just sort of staring in awe.
TIM and Saren knew of them since 2157 (Evolution Comic).
Let's assume all prothean beacons and archives hinted on the reapers, yet not all could understand it, which is not very far fetched. Or the Data Caches our circle got the knowledge of Mass Effect Technology from were placed by the Reapers, after the cleaned up and encoded it in the prothean language to raise no suspicion.
Even If the Asari knew about it quite early, they became power hungry over the time like anyone who gets an technologic edge over others. Over time the Reaper Threat drifted into the Realms of myths and legends until the attack on Sovereign.
But at this point the Asari could not share such Information as knowing about the Reaper threat simply out of fear the other Species would hate them for knowing so long and doing nothing about it.
Oh, that's exactly what they did with the Prothean Beacon on Thessia....
But after Sovereigns attack, a boosted Citadel Council Support for the AI project is likely and understandable. If it happened, of course.
And because Bioware knows what it's doing, there should and will be no mentioning of the reapers beyond the Codex Entry of ME2. It wouldn't do the new Plot any good.
Same goes for Cora beeing related to TIM in any way.
I could definitely see the council after the sovereign attack not wanting to publicly acknowledge anything reaper related, but still allocating funds to the AI.
@AqueousErbium not arguing just wanting to have a friendly discussion about potential story and what our personal opinions are on what's coming next. I just finished the trilogy and am beyond excited as to how close to release we are, I love this franchise and all the lore that goes into it, I genuinely enjoy talking about it and love to hear how other people see it. I do agree there may be a 45 minute to hour stare fest at the menu screen.
Marolf has a point! If AI has any connection with Cerberus, makes total sense that it was, beyond exploration of uncharted worlds and possibly finding new technologies, also a backup plan! But I also don't see BioWare doing any reference at all!
If they reference anything I doubt it will be in the first game, I think BioWare will want to indoctrinate new players before throwing to much info and backstory at them.
Indoctrinate - such a horrible word. :)
What do you think?
