Is it just me or are most of the characters ridiculously ugly, the only character who seemed like they were an actual fantasy character to me is the male Ryder
Maybe if you find out the face models they used to create the characters, you might become more aligned to accept them.
Miranda got her looks and her voice from the same actress, for a reason.
Peebee looks strange because of that big stripe in her face, but it makes her look more rebellious too.
From the vids, they all look a bit more artifical to me then ME2, or ME3, but I need to experience it while playing and I am looking foward to character creation and development.
They all are ugly except the Turian. I NEED TO HAVE A TURIAN MALE ROMANCE!!!!!!
Google 'Mass Effect Andromeda ugly females' and you will get a very long list of articles to read. Sara Ryder looks nothing like her model. This article points it out quite well. thesun.co.uk/news/2948293/bioware-accused-of-making-mass-effect-andromeda-female-characters-ugly-in-bizarre-sexism-row
PeeBee looks kinda cute. Plus shes Asari. And blue. And she can literally mind fuck you..im in
She got nothing on Liara or Samara though in appearance anyway can't speak as to the character
No one will ever beat Liara haha. Samara had the milf thing down thats for sure
Completely agree with you there haha
I've been thinking about this a wee bit, and it's been really frustrating to me. Not BioWare "making the characters ugly," but people talking about beauty without acknowledging its subjectivity and complaining about "ugly" characters. As I mentioned at the top, the characters are not meant to be inherently attractive to everyone (that being utterly impossible), although that may be the case for some of the players.
In a game where you make the decisions, where it is your story, just shaped in their universe, it's great to be able to relate to your character. Dungeons and Dragons is a fine example: if you're playing a character that is extremely different from you in every way, it can be very difficult to actually play the character and can easily be less personal, even though you're spending hours upon hours developing this character and their story. For some, it's really easy to dissociate themselves from these fictional characters, wanting to let creativity flow and do something they wouldn't do. With making the characters "uglier," they are actually making the characters more relatable. Hardly anyone is a supermodel, so few would relate to the super hot space cowboy killing Kett and banging aliens. If you want your character to be super hot, you are capable of doing that. That's the wonderful thing about character creation. But you simply cannot criticize over "ugly" characters because people are ugly. Humans can vary dramatically in physical appearance, and there are far more "ugly" people than there are "sexy." And to each person, what is "ugly" and what is "sexy" are unique, personalized. That's the great thing about subjectivity: it is unique to each individual, as are these characters. Criticizing this game for having "ugly" characters is like criticizing Earth for allowing "ugly" humans to exist. Ugly exists, and it's the norm.
Truth be told I'm not too fussed on how they look they just look like average people for the most part (does not apply to aliens). And at the end of the day I'm just here for the gameplay and story and overall epicness of mass effect.
To each his own, as usual.
I for myself do not think they are ugly, just take the picture of Sarah and her model. One is with good lighting and make-up, the other one without.
There are many similarities between them, but changing the environment for example can put things in a complete different perspective.
Beeing on a playthrough right now lets me compare the characters and the different game engines that where used.
As far as i have seen, they are not ugly but more generic, especally Alec and his totally glued on Hair.
Our doc on the other hand look very appealing though.
But again, if you do not like the default, character customization is the way to go.
I only had 1 plathrough for each default char at all and that won't change this time.
What do you think?
