I honestly wish they would have waited. Its very difficult for me to stay away from the Google news feed. People keep trash talking the way the character animations are. Horizon Zero Dawn has some flaws as well. It amazes me how far we have come with these new big and beautiful games yet the characters we play and interact with still haven't come close to perfect yet. Don't get me wrong I love Mass Effect and I can't wait to play Andromeda but does anyone else have an issue with this early access release?
I'm loving the early access so far, and I think it made me even more excited to get the full game!
I think it's great. The reviews are coming from people that didn't play the franchise...
Im loving it. My only gripe, so far the dialogue feels a little robotic, the characters seem wooden. The humans anyway. Salarians are as animated as ever. And the planet scanning can get bit tedious, its more akin to the original mass effect in terms of map navigation.
Those aside, it looks and feels amazing. And the new way of handling gear and stats/abilities is gonna make each persons gameplay a very unique experience, which is all i wanted.
Early impressions get an 8/10 from me.
Facial animations? 😂🤣😂🤣 Not even close to scaring this fanboy.
Nah i meant animated as in the way they act and speak as a race haha. But yeah my point was the only faults i found were very minor
Not a shot at you at all, but to the critics bashing the game solely because of the facial animations. Because we all know what made the Mass Effect series great. Facial animations. 😂
Historically, it doesn't inspire much confidence for early releases. I'd prefer delayed releases if 1) it wasn't an indefinite delay, meaning possibly permanent, and 2) it means the company was putting in more time working to improve it. Now this does not mean it's bad and while I do find the facial features off, a good story could more than make up for it. It could be that they were just a head of schedule, or not, I don't know. I hope it does well and I cant wait to see what it produces.
Haha yeah sky fair enough. I think ultimately the problem we will face with this "bad press" is people, and i know its a stretch calling critics "people", see this game's title, those 2 magic words Mass Effect, and immediately tie it in to the previous trilogy, and everything they offered. Now the easy thing to do is compare this to the most modern or recent entry and maybe even its predecessor, me2 and me3, as the original was nearly 10 years ago so they tend to be left out of comparison due to age of tech etc.
But thats the problem. Andromeda is not a continuation. Its not even a supplement game. We (on this Fandom) all know this. But andromeda is a brand new story set in the same universe, that being its only real tie. So its a whole new, fresh start. We dont know this story, we dont know these characters. So for the moment, we dont feel. Thats where a lot of these critics are sitting. Mass effect 1 made such a big start because it was so ahead of its time. If you really think back, Andromeda is how me1 started. It was slow, to the point, fantastical, but it had an interesting premise, and about half way through, you really started to give a shit. By the end of the trilogy, i couldnt even play anything else. It moved me. Games rarely do that anymore. And thats a hard thing to rediscover, especially anyone new to the series, with an already sour taste for solid gaming in their mouth after 2016's poor release record in general.
Mass Effect 1 sparked a RPG revolution that changed the way games were told, played and experienced and imo they just kept getting better. Now with this bar set so high, and so many good games from multiple genres trying to carry on that great tradition, its natural to overlook any new achievement and go straight for the jugular..meaning these days with all our gaming options, people see a AAA title name and immediately expect that bar to be jumped over within 5 minutes of the intro cutscene.
My advice, Andromeda was already under the guillotine the moment it was announced, so dont read or follow shit, just play it. Only you will know. Fuck critics.
Very well said. Thank you
What do you think?
