I recently completed Andromeda and I have to say it was a solid, great game. Yes it does issues. The characters aren't as great as the ones in the original trilogy but those characters had three 40 hour games to flesh out. There are also an abundance of bugs (which have been acknowledged and are most likely being fixed). The bugs have been the key topic in a majority of criticisms of the game (hell some people haven't even played the game and are hating on it) but which games don't come without they're fair share of bugs. I adore Bethesda games but they're games are buggy as hell and people just ignore it.
In my opinion, the reason for criticism of the game has come from the high expectations for the series and rpgs in general. While this isn't a necessarily a bad thing, it does affect player experience as my original run was filled with me finding flaws and nitpicking on Andromeda. My second play through I didn't dwell on a few sound bugs, I focused on I find essential to a good game and Mass Effect. The story
