Lets see, I was buying some games that are over 7 years old and that includes the old Fallout games before 2014, the old Elder Scrolls games, and then thought, "Hmm, maybe I should try MAss Effect I guess." Also because the Mass Effect game was on sale including the Legendary edition. I played Andromeda first since I have actually known a bit more about the 3 games than the Andromeda. So played that(took me 70 hours) and am currently playing Legendary Edition. I am on the third game now and getting close. Might finish it today or tomorrow.

I really enjoyed the games. My list of favorites from least to best is ME1, ME2, ME:A, an ME3 so far. To be able to experience is better than watching it from a lets player.

YouTube and the fact I wanted to play for a while

I’d known about Mass Effect when I was in middle school but it was just something I randomly saw in my recommended on YouTube so I didn’t really pay much attention to it.

What got me into it was a fanfiction crossover between Kingdom Hearts and Mass Effect called "I'm Nobody." I randomly found it when I was searching for KH fanfics and it’s one of those rare odd crossover fanfics that you wouldn’t think would work together but are actually well written.

Because I didn’t know what the characters looked like, I ended up having to look them up. The more I read, the more interested I got in the ME series. I ended up buying the Legendary Edition last year and Andromeda. I also bought Mass Effect 3 on Origin for the sole purpose of playing the multiplayer (which is still popular).

I got the legendary edition with all three games and dlc content

I was going through youtube, looking at lists of LPs that were posted on them. I was curious about Mass Effect, though it wasn't the first game that I was curious about. I watched the LP of the first game. I wasn't hooked on it as it was kind of bland, but I was intrigued. Anyone who has seen the end of the first game knows it's a cliffhanger, so I watched the second game and...I don't exactly remember when I got hooked, but as I was watching it, I really got into the series. I guess it was because it was around the time, my mom had cancer and my mind developed a sort of coping mechanism for dealing with it. One thing led to another and I found myself dreaming up another story, but this time with characters and settings from this game. It's a long story.

Played me1 before 2010 in high-school I believe and lost interest. Couple yrs later saw a friend of mine play me3 I tried it and loved it. Started me1 again and played through prob 5 times. I think 6th time is going to be my renegade run lol

Got ME3 as a Christmas present when it came out. Bought 2 secondhand a few years after, then 1 when it was on sale digitally.

My brother brought it up to me a while before the LE release. I'd heard of it before, sure, but never thought anything of it. I'm very much an exophile though, and when my brother watched me fawning over Yes-Man in Fallout New Vegas and romancing Hancock in Fallout 4, he mentioned this game he used to be obsessed with where you could romance aliens. I looked it up and was immediately obsessed - I'd never seen so many well written, fully-thought out aliens races in a single game, and regardless of aliens, I'm a sucker for lore that you can get lost in. I bought it as soon as it came out, and I finished the whole thing in less than a week before playing it again and again since then. Part of the reason I like such rich lore is that it's kinda like a D&D setup, like I can take the information I'm given and run with it to make my own characters and storylines that fit into the main plot; as a writer, that kind of toolset is a saviour when you're feeling uninspired.

I got into RPGs less than 10 years ago, and DAI was the first I really played. Well, my partner got sick of watching me play it over and over, and got me to try the ME trilogy. I was afraid I wouldn't like the sci-fi aspect, but I fell in love. Now he gets to watch me play ME 1-3 over and over again.
