I don't know if Bioware is lazy or just plain stupid. It's always grinded my gears that all cutscenes use the avenger rilfe, or predator/shuriken pistols. Meanwile Bailey or some random ncp gets a carnifex or Paladin pistol.

They had 18 months!
Like ME1 had 3 years and half to develop. Why they decided to give ME2 and ME3 even less time is beyond me.
I'm cautious about this new Mass Effect game coming out, but I'm at least hoping they get the proper development time and resources they need for it to be good. Or at least try.
EA and Bethesda with 18 months, what a coincidence.
I kinda moved on from Mass Effect, if the new game is more in the style of the trilogy and is a good game, i'll give it a shot, but i'm satisfied with what i got from trilogy.
I don't need a sequel to the original games.
Really I'm just looking for more space exploration RPG games. Which as of now only Starfield and Mass Effect are the ones coming out I can think of.
What i want from a Mass Effect game is that style of combat that involves strategy, using your squadmates, power combos and all that stuff, i want that style of "open world" smaller but more dense and a good story, i don't care if it's a sequel either.
Something I loved about ME1 was how big it felt. Unlike most I actually really liked the Uncharted Worlds exploration. Sure it definitely could have been better. A lot better! But as the first game I liked it. And I always wanted them to refine that aspect of it. But they never did.
I really missed Hackett calling me and telling me "Commander there's a distress blah blah."
I think a refined version of that could be great, my least favorite part of that was the terrain of many planets that were terrible for the Mako and the interiors which were pretty much all the same but at least they always changed the layout a little bit.
The open world i mentioned was more for hubs like the Citadel and Omega, i feel like smaller places are much better because they can be more detailed and also we become more familiar with them making them more meaningful to us, there are many open worlds that i don't remember anything about or care, it's the exact opposite for smaller places that have more personality.
Well I'd say it really depends. Because some like Red Dead 2, I'm with you. I don't remember anything. But stuff like Cyberpunk 2077 or Skyrim. Those games I remember everything. I can navigate through Night City without checking the map it's so good. And Skyrim same thing.
Even a game like Breath of the Wild. Because those games are huge but they do a great good with the world and filling it with interesting things.
For Mass Effect I think we could have the same possibly.
It definitely depends, i disagree on Red Dead 2 because the towns are pretty memorable and very different from each other, the areas around them as well.
I just feel like many games are making gigantic maps for no good reason, the last 2 Assassin's Creed games are some of the best examples of this, i don't think any game was as boring to explore for me, switching to a game that did well was Elden Ring but as great as it was it has many problems like repetition and the "magic" being gone after the first time.
Night City is great example of a good open world, content could've been a little better imo, but the level design and visuals are insane and it wasn't that big, you could probably find maps that size or closer in the 360 gen, but i think that's part of why it's such a great open world.
Frankly, i don't think Mass Effect would benefit much from being open world, imo the best approach would be a combination of 1 and 2, some hubs that are small with many characters, very detailed environments and a lot of world building from 2 and uncharted planets with side missions and secrets to find from 1 but improved.
There's one Idea for a open world Mass Effect game that i think would be really cool though, a game set entirely in the Citadel, idk what the story would be, maybe you're a C-Sec agent, maybe a Spectre investigating some big threat against the Citadel or something else.
I agree, Mass Effect can't be a Night City 2.0
But having the hubs be similar in scope to say the yakuza games. The Silverstipe in ME3 is a perfect little hub world. Just expand it a bit and we could have a really cool hub.
Red Dead 2 is a great game. But it's just not as good as Night City, Hyrule, or Skyrim for me. B3cause the towns all feel the same, which granted that is true to the irl setting of America.
What do you think?
