Had this thought when remembering articles about both current and past Mass Effect Writers/Designers. In one article BioWare mentions that they don’t want to do another trilogy of games again and that they “have done that,” which leads me to think that future games might be more stand alone stories in the “Mass Effect Universe.” In another article the creators of Mass Effect Andromeda regretted that they didn’t get the chance to make a sequel to the game.
While BioWare’s future and the future of Mass Effect are still up in the air, I try to remain hopeful. If the next Mass Effect is a success it could breath new life into the franchise and potentially hope for Mass Effect’s spin off game series. The scope of settings of future games is something to consider. If the next game focuses on the Milky Way Galaxy we could potentially remain there in future games. We could also bridge the narrative gap of both games and somehow make both galaxies accessible. (This of course is difficult given the 600 years it takes to travel between the two) Finally, we could also view each individual galaxy as potential settings for future games.
All this is speculation of course, but what do the rest of you think? Would you be interested in revisiting Andromeda again if we focus on the Mass Effect Universe? Or should we leave ME Andromeda in the past and focus on the Milky Way Galaxy’s future storylines?
