I don’t think so and not because they don’t want to cause they can’t. It would probably have shown the damage and scars left after the War.

The fourth Dragon Age ("The Veilguard") is still upcoming. BioWare won't fully work on the next Mass Effect before that one has been released. It's similar to how Bethesda hasn't shown much of anything about the sixth Elder Scrolls game, even though they teased it with a trailer over six years ago. They had to first finish Starfield before getting to develop it to the fullest.

As for what the next ME is gonna be about. Who knows? The clues in the trailers shown so far make it seem like a direct sequel to both the trilogy and Andromeda, so probably a game that takes place in both the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies in the 2820s.

I am praying to Jebus, Cthulu, and the Flying Spaghetti Monster that Commander Shepard and the Reapers don't pull a Palpatine and "somehow return". They want a new game so we can play around in the same universe again and they can make some money, fine... but let the story centered on Shepard and the Reapers have ended out of respect to the original trilogy, both on the developer side, and for all the choices and relationships every player made in their own journey through the games that made it a unique experience for them. I don't see how they can resurrect either Shepard or the Reapers without cheapening or invalidating people's experiences playing the trilogy.

I want more dating scenes heehee and just friendship scenes too. what made the games special to me is connecting with each of the characters.

Cerberus Will probably return even though Jack ”Ilusive man” Harper is dead due to the how many still believe in there cause not to mention there are Cerberus run companies like Cord-Hislop Aerospace.

What happened with all the indoctrinated? That is something that was never addressed.

The Reapers Will not return physically however that doesn’t mean they aren’t still a threat given all of there tech and carcasses lying around. We have seen the damage that tech is capable of both physically and psychologically.

Honestly, they could go a number of different ways with the next Mass Effect game. The real issue is to reconcile the different endings of Mass Effect 3. Whatever endgame decision you make has massive implications for the galaxy and choosing only one ending as canon undercuts so many of the players choices. Mass Effect 3 is criticized for reducing three games worth of buildup and choices to just a few outcomes and if the next Mass Effect game disregards all other choices but one, then that might also have negative repercussions.

If BioWare can overcome that hurdle then they can move on to other possible story opportunities. One could be about if the Milk Ways species can utilized Reaper technology if the risk of Indoctrination potentially ends with the Reapers? What if dormant Mass Relays were activated/altered with the Crucible activation and potentially dozens of new species have access to the rest of the Milky Way galaxy? (Or at least know where a gateway is) What political changes might have occurred if the setting is further in the future? Would the hinted Dark Energy issue be a threat to address? Will AI continue to be a potential civilization ending threat? What about threats from outside the galaxy? Would the Kett come to the Milky Way? Could the Jaardan come to the Milky Way? And if so what might be their intentions? Some early art implies that the Geth may endure regardless, if so how? And what might they do? (If the Destroy Ending was chosen, I can’t imagine they would see organics as anything other than enemies.)

These I think are all great questions to explore.

@Tyrtyrtyrtyr Judging by the trailer and material released thus far it is most likely the destroy ending given all the Reaper carcasses everywhere. The Synthesis ending is a Happily ever after ending so you would need a extragalatic threat and with the Control ending takes it close to a repeat of the story of the OT. Refuse is rendered obsolete since the next game is about the current and final cycle. The schism between the geth will begin anew since the heretics would have used that to restart there crusade against organics and the other would want to follow Legion’s example and interact/befriend organics except maybe quarians due to everlasting animosity. The Leviathans would probably continue to observe the the galaxy seeing as old habits die hard although if let’s say the Kett comes to the Milky Way they Will mostly likely participate in protecting the galaxy (their galaxy).

^ Possibly. With so few details it could be anyone’s guess the direction the game will go. I’m just throwing out ideas or questions that the game could potentially explore.

It won’t go in the ending of Synthesis that is for sure since everyone shown lacks that green glowing hue. Control takes it too close to OT story. That is why I think Destroy is what they Will go with.
