Yeah my only hope is that it is something in the ME-universe that doesn't connect to the games directly (or that it adapts one of the many side stories we already have with comics etc).
Let's be realistic, it is very unlikely to be any good :(
Well the games seem intentionally ambiguous about how much an asari gets from her "father" (and that convo between Liara and Aethyta in ME3 lampshades it) but with Prothean DNA being unique it would be cool if it had more influence on the whole gene randomization thing.
Happy birthday, commander who likes every store on the Citadel and really should go xD
Apparently they didn't do face capture (motion capture) for MEA at all, but they did for the trilogy, which is why MEA's look like crap.
Honestly I have no problems with Shepard's story ending with a heroic sacrifice since this is also how most of my favorites die (well, some of them only do so during a full Paragon playthrough) and, well, I suppose I never got to the point where I'd project onto Shepard so much that I'd see them as some extension of me rather than a character in a story. Yes, ME3's writing is flawed, but overall, my main frustrations are with how rushed the third act of the story felt, not the endings (talking Extended Cut/MELE here, obviously not the original release).
I mean, I like Andromeda. I don't love it, I don't get all that emotional from it, but to me, it's still a fun enough game that I have around 200 hours in it (which for me is quite a lot since I don't play videogames much nowadays). I agree that some lore elements are pretty cool, like the angara and jardaan, and some characters are neat even if they aren't all that deep. I just think that Andromeda is best viewed as a spin-off game, or even as an in-universe game (since the series doesn't exactly shy away from meta stuff) since it didn't live up to the trilogy, has a pretty simplistic Hero's Journey type of plot and even contradicts some of the lore.
^ I agree that Jaal is the most interesting of them all, even if it's mostly as a representative of the angara who to me are the most interesting aspect of MEA. Though I also have a soft spot for Vetra as she is a female turian that can be romanced, haha.
Andromeda companions are a bit of a weird thing for me. On one hand I don't particularly dislike any (even Liam, whose entire thing is that he messes up, because, well, it is intentional at least, we're not supposed to think he is right), but on the other, they are all pretty shallow archetypes so I don't feel strong emotional attachment to any either. Jacob just overall feels like the writers didn't intend for him to be bad, but he still came out as such - he refuses to talk about his past much so you can't get to know him in ME2, and in ME3 his supposed journey of self-discovery is underwhelming compared to what pretty much everyone else was doing, not to mention he cheats on Femshep :p Sorry for a long post lol, sometimes I get wordy >.>
My favorites in terms of characters? Nyreen, Mordin, Legion and Wrex.
My favorites to use are Wrex in ME1, Miranda in ME2, Javik in ME3 (not as much for skills since I don't play on highest diffs, I just vibe with them - and who the 2nd one is depends on the mission).
Least favorites? Well, I don't hate anyone but yeah, Jacob is probably as boring as they get.
I genuinely enjoy its gameplay enough that I keep coming back to replay it, everything else is mediocre sure but it's not bad enough to turn me against it.
Edit: nvm didn't realize it was the OP
For me, Mass Effect is done. I really don't see the point of continuing it and I think that at this point they are just desperate to milk it. If Andromeda wasn't a flop it'd make sense to continue it (as it was planned) but it was so they are trying to drag everything together to get the remaining old fans on board. But what they teased so far doesn't look appealing to me. So I'll just stick to the trilogy, because with all its flaws it is still something historical for me, it was fun being along for the ride following its development and I doubt anything new they throw out will replicate this feeling. I'm not saying the next ME will necessary fail, maybe it won't by some miracle, who knows, I just know it won't be for me.
The way they talked about the new DA, it sounded like they came up with some way to fetch your save data without having to link accounts (in fact, they said that the new DA will be playable offline, and I'm lowkey mad that they can't do the same with MELE/MEA). But seven if it's not the case, it's possible that they'll let you pick the major decisions (there weren't even that many in DAI honestly) and the minor ones won't come into play since they have a new protagonist every time. Similarly the next ME takes place centuries later so many decisions won't be relevant by then. But it also seems like they are making some things canon (like Liara being alive when she can technically die in the extended cut and presumably the Destroy ending). So we might not get to choose much as it won't play into the next ME's plot.
Sorry, I love my turian ladies too much, so blue babies ain't for me xD
Heh, I always felt like romancing characters in ME1 was way easier than not romancing them... just talk to them like three times and you are stuck :p
Samara's code doesn't prevent relationships I believe, and she generally says that it's not impossible, she just chooses to focus on her mission. So in theory if she was a more significant character in ME3 maybe there could have been a more developed romance with her. As for Aria, she could probably hook up with Renegade Femshep since they vibe together so well but with the size of her ego I wouldn't expect her to be willing to commit haha.
Tbh I have similar sentiments which is why I'm thankful we got Vetra in MEA. I may not love her as much as Nyreen but she is wholesome enough and relatable in trying to be a good big sister.
It wouldn't be Mass Effect without cutscene-gameplay gun inconsistencies :p
One that always personally bugs me is the Omega DLC reactor one. It's a choice between killing or not killing literal hundreds of civilians but the only consequence is a bit of dialogue.
^ I mean, considering that they are changing everything, it's pretty obvious as is, no? But basically they said that the movie (and potential sequels) is gonna have a separate continuity from the games which is honestly for the best cause maybe we'll get a better storyline than BL3's. I don't want to go digging for the specific article that said it but it's probably still out there and you can google for it yourself.
