I picked Overlord, because while it has a good story, heart-wrenching ending, and godly music, it is just annoying to actually play it.
Drell, but since they're not an option, I pick Turian.
^ Mother of all holy sh*ts, I didn't ever think of that, that is so accurate!
Seems like a fair fight, piting an entire beloved trilogy against one extremely underated game.
The issue is that Synthesis does not ensure that every species will have a same or at least similiar opinion. They might still disagree on how to, for example, enforce peace in the galaxy, and if the now alive Reapers take the more militant stance of dealing with every problem by force, what stops them from taking this even further and trying to assert dominance?
Anyway, it is important to note that we do not actually know what happens after Synthesis. This is just how I see it, and unless BioWare steps forward and clarifies what it will lead to, we simply do not know and can only speculate.
The "we against them" mindset can stem from various reasons - yes, one of them can be the essential difference between philosophies and essential values, perhaps akin to the Huntington's Clash of Civilizations. But they can also start due to the simple feeling of superiority of one nation/race, or in the ME's case, species over another. One can argue that this feeling of superiority led to the World War 2 - yes, there were several other political reasons, but the sense of superiority and righteousness was a big part of it.
Now, synthetics have learned to understand the organics through the synthesis - the value of life, what it entails, what it means to be alive and strive for survival. But don't we all, as organics, already understand these values? And yet we have always waged wars on another, wanting to subjugate other cultures or nations, even if we know what being alive means. The Synthesis does not unify every single species in a single mindset that automatically erases war from existence.
@Lethal blade00 Honestly I do not trust the Synthesis ending precisely because there will be a supposed "peace" between organics and synthetic. We learn in the epilogue from EDI that "she is alive," suggesting emotions and everything mental being alive entails. Well, live beings have waged wars on each others for eternity, both in real life history and in the Mass Effect universe. How long until the extremely powerful, but now alive Reapers realize their superiority over other races and wage war on them with the goal of subjugating them? This time not due to the built-in master-creation conflict, but due to truly believing they should rule the galaxy because it is their Darwinian right?
I have always assumed that, at worst, Shepard would grow indifferent in a very long time and completely withdraw himself and the Reapers, deciding to merely watch from afar akin to Dr. Manhattan.
Control is still the best ending for me and the one I would probably choose myself if I were in Shepard's shoes.
Probably Turian or Drell
Yes well, 29 is still more than 22, we do not know what Shepard was like when he was 22 and we do not know what Ryder will be like when he's 29. Both of them were basically thrown into limelight out of nowhere (Ryder is suddenly a Pathfinder, and Shepard is suddenly an icon due to an event depending on your background.) When Ryder is 29, maybe he'll be just as badassy as Shepard.
Also, you have to consider Ryder's background - as far as I know, Shepard or his family never bore a stigma that walled them from any meaningful postings or rising through ranks.
Easily my least favourite companion. Shoved down our throats as a "cool, cocksure guy, look he is great!"
Naive optimism is fine when handled well, but BioWare went too far with it with Liam.
Great, another post bashing ME:A with the one holy arguement - iT iS nOt tHe TrIlOgY uGhHhH
This is also one of the reasons why I don't get the "I did not like the characters in Andromeda as much as in the Trilogy" ... Like, each companion in Andromeda is way more interesting than those in ME1 were initially, they only blossomed in the later games.
^ Because of that reach and flexibility
On a serious note, I too like him more as a buddy than as a romance, but I think it's because he's a badass. Also, lot of people find Kaidan and Jacob boring and there are not many other male romance options for FemShep, so Garrus is like a holy grail to them.
I kinda wish that (if this theory is true) they'll use the original dark energy plot in ME4 and that because suns are dying, the Milky Way will consider the already launched Andromeda Initiative as a possibility to flee the dying galaxy. Like, we'd hear about it, see new arks built etc.
Probably Batarian. I wear glassess, so I technically have 4 eyes.
While I love both Kaidan and Garrus, Thane was just too damn great to pass up as a romance.
(Spolier alert)
Also, it makes the "I don't want to leave my partner alone and sad after I die" problem much easier. I'm better at dealing with sadness than making people sad, I guess
"Can this wait for a bit? I'm in the middle of some calibrations."
It's not the explosion that kills Shepard, it's the fact that he has too many cybernetics in his body, so the destruction of all synthetic life renders them useless, effectively killing Shepard. He might as well just walk toward his death rather than just collapse where he's standing.
