I’d assume it’s connected to that element of FTL and mass effect fields that remains a mystery, similar to how ships can’t perform an FTL collision - for reasons that elude the races of the Milky Way.

Ofcourse we know that the reapers are the masters behind FTL collisions as it would make them vulnerable to unmanned “kamikaze” starships so they made the technology smart enough to eliminate any chance of these.

For that reason I’d assume that until the reapers are defeated and their technology comprehended fully, FTL tracking would remain impossible.

This is one of the best yet!
