This page is for discussing a policy related to the Mass Effect Wiki that may or may not be passed by the community. The Form below serves to describe the Policy and what it is about, or what it will modify.

Policy: 3 Edit Confirmation Policy[]

Description of Policy: Adding to the Manual of Style:

“Because of the nature of video games, over time people will encounter bugs, exploits, ways to fix bugs or exploits, come across conflicting information, and interesting ways of using things or taking down enemies that may not work again. Because of this, we must have at least three users confirm things of this nature on the relevant talk page before they can be added into the relevant article(s).”

Other Notes[]

While this has been a standard for a while now, perhaps it is time to make it official, since it wasn't already.

What will be covered under this policy are:

  • Bugs
  • Exploits
  • Unconventional Player Notes and Tactics
  • Bug Solutions
  • Conflicting Information (Edit War things)

Anything that falls under this category, will require three users to confirm it on the relevant talk page. Anything that is currently in articles will be grandfathered in and only be removed if a conflict arrives.

What is meant by "Conflicting Information" is things that no one has come across before, or things that seem out in left field so to speak. Unconventional Player Notes and Tactics are things that someone would seem as suicidal, or things that seem impossible with described weapon loadouts and tactics.

The policy itself will be worded along those lines, but since people do like confirmed things, the policy itself will be worded as above and added to the Manual of Style.

I have every intention of voting in favor, but before I do, I think something regarding sourcing and maybe trivia needs to be added. There have been a couple of times when I've seen a source okayed by one admin but removed by another, which is very frustrating. TheUnknown285 (talk) 19:01, August 24, 2012 (UTC)

This has nothing to do with that since that is a separate matter. Sourcing in this case is the direct confirmation of three users. Anything that to deal with sourcing is being handled separately. Lancer1289 (talk) 19:03, August 24, 2012 (UTC)]
Alright, just keep that in mind when you get around to dealing with source policy. TheUnknown285 (talk) 22:28, August 24, 2012 (UTC)
