The aim of the project is to make CDN articles more user friendly. I have two propositions (that can be dealt separately). The first one can be dealt rapidly but the second need more work.

  • 1 - Nav Box

The idea is very simple because we should add a navigation box in the bottom of each CDN page. I propose here two version (here 1 & 2) of the nav box (even if I prefer the first one). I'm not sure that this point need a vote if we have several positive advice on this topic.

  • 2 - List of the stories

The second idea is harder to put in place as it aims an ordering of the main CDN stories. The list could help user to rapidly access to each significant story of the CDN content. What I have currently in mind (work is not done, I'm waiting community input before to go forward) is located here. I'm not sure if we have to sort every stories and every news or if we should focus on biggest one (Personally I'm in favor of completeness). If the first idea pass, We could also add the main stories into the nav box just like here (nav box 3).

I'm open for comments, feel free to also edit my sandbox.--DeldiRe (talk) 08:57, November 14, 2014 (UTC)

I think both parts of this proposal are good ideas. I would say that the first Nav box looks better as it's neater than the other two and makes it clearer that you're sorting by year. I didn't even realize you had put years on separate lines in the other two at first. I thought they were just spacing errors at first.

I also really, really like the idea behind second part. Might I suggest an alternative to what you've been doing? How about a sortable table for listing news stories? The columns would be the title of each story, its date of publication (written in such a way so that it sorts by year, then by month, then by day), and storyline (if applicable -- making sure that it sorts the stories in the order in chronological order). I like your idea as it could include every CDN but could you make a first draft so that I can really see what you have in mind? Thanks --DeldiRe (talk) 09:22, November 24, 2014 (UTC)

Nav box 1 looks more organized. I vote for #1.--BloodyMares (talk) 16:12, November 24, 2014 (UTC)

deldire, no vote is valid or counted as initiated unless the template for voting was properly added and used. you should know this already. Temp, it's not a definitive vote as it's just to know what nav box is prefered by editors. And, indeed, I know that a classic vote is needed as a new template is considered as a "major change" in the Community guidelines.--DeldiRe (talk) 14:27, November 25, 2014 (UTC)
It sure looks like a normal vote since you use the word "propose" and don't specify that another official vote on essentially the same thing will take place at a later point (if this is your intent). Feedback and input that may impact the direction of the project is why there is a comment section, as the discussion may consist of more than just a "yes" or "no" one way or another. Such a "vote" can well be expressed in a comment anyway, without a formal-looking vote section. (It's easy to miss that everything including the vote is technically under "Comments", and a reader can hardly be expected to infer that it's not an actual vote based on that.)
For now I'm partial to navbox 1, mainly because they're all rather similar and it's the only one without needless repetition of the year. Elseweyr talkstalk 23:49:16, 2014-11-25 (UTC)
It doesn't look like a normal vote because there is no "vote" template, I made this process enough time to know the difference. But now, is it possible to stop needless and boring discussion about process (and what everybody think that others thought about it) and speak more about content? --DeldiRe (talk) 09:19, November 26, 2014 (UTC)

It seems that everybody is more in favor of the nav box 1, I will then launch the vote for this first part of the project.--DeldiRe (talk) 08:48, December 10, 2014 (UTC)

The spacing between each month link seems better on nav box 1. MasterDassJennir (talk) 00:25, December 12, 2014 (UTC)
