Other Notes

in light of the Mass Effect 3: Citadel dlc, we now have enough material to roll out a master page for all drink mentions in the franchise. we previously had a Tupari page, but it got consistently deleted due to the lack of anything more substantial.

well, no longer.

this page can serve as its home. as well as all other single-mention drinks that don't have anything other than name and maybe a brief description. redirects will be provided and created, articles amended as needed. we have precedents, above in supporting content.

i have done the legwork but i still feel there are some things i might've missed. novels/comic stuff, probably, or other observed events focusing on the drinks across ME2 and ME3. to my knowledge ME classic has nothing, but i may be wrong. i prefer the list to be as complete as possible before formally rolling it out to mainspace.

tl;dr, free permission to contribute to the sandbox located on my userpage above. i will be verifying inputs, of course, so anything more fictional than a canon list of fictional drinks will be expunged.

addendum: i've read unconfirmed reports that the citadel dlc drinks may have been inspired by fan creations posted way before the DLC's release. this means stuff posted around 2012 or earlier. i've seen some floating around the internet, but if anyone can provide proper developer confirmation on the matter then this means a justified trivia mention.

  1. Not enough info available. "Ale", "wine" added with species names don't really count.--SolitaryReaper(talk)

Looks fine to me. Eventually I'm sure it will get some cool pictures, although it's regrettable we probably can't show any Shepard-throwing-one-back screenshots. Cattlesquat (talk) 16:38, February 9, 2014 (UTC)

Rendering the turian brandy entry as "straw induction port" might be entertaining. Cattlesquat (talk) 16:46, February 10, 2014 (UTC)

I do support the addition of this page. I will just say that the introduction seems a bit "odd" an unconsistant. I don't really know how to improve it but IMO it should ;). I will also take a look at the comics (MEI & MEG too) to check if I can find another drink.--DeldiRe (talk) 09:23, February 10, 2014 (UTC)

Comics quick check as promise:

  • Redemption: /
  • Incursion: /
  • Inquisition: /
  • Evolution: #1 Ashley's father is drinking some alcohol but no name.
  • Conviction: they are drinking some kind of beer during the poker but no name.
  • Invasion: /
  • Homeworlds: #1 Jame's father drinking some alcohol but no name.
  • Blasto: /
  • The One Who Laughs Best: /
  • Foundation: #3 Ashley's squad is drinking a lot of stuff in a bar but no name. #4 Kaidan is drinking beers with his father on Earth ("Beers?" "Thanks dad). #5 Jacob and Miranda shares a drink together on a bar on the Citadel but no name.

So, for comics, not that much except the explicit mention of beers in MEF4.

MEI: Nothing that I can remember in ME Infiltrator but I will be on edge next time I play.

MEG: At the end of the adventure, Miranda comes in Jacob's chamber with two glasses in order to share a bottle of champagne. (they don't talk about drinking in the Fringe)

I don't know if beers and/or champagne are relevant for your page, so I leave it to your appreciation Temp.

the minimum is at least a descriptive in-universe identifier. failing that, notable instances within the lore. "batarian ale", "turian brandy", so on. "beer" is, sadly, too vague for anything of note, and so far we haven't learned anything about it other than what we might do with the stuff in real life. i'm sure a proper writeup can be brainstormed down the line, but as of yet it eludes me. What you did for beet is good for me and as I said, the rest can't be mentioned. The same apply for the champagne bottle as it is not clearly said that it is champagne :(--DeldiRe (talk) 10:52, February 11, 2014 (UTC)

Do we have a page for food? Barring that, what about combining the food we do know of with your beverages page into a Food and Beverages article? TheUnknown285 (talk) 01:38, February 11, 2014 (UTC)

i can't recall foodstuffs unique to the franchise at the moment. i'm thinking that if, for example, we have "ramen", then the barest minimum criteria for inclusion should be something similar to what i discovered while writing the beer section. mentioning that kasumi loves ramen but grunt hates it isn't really notable by itself - we all have preferences - and i think that's about the only thing about ramen that we know.
for now, this is a compilation of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. if you got ideas, share em. Food I can recall off the top of my head being mentioned in ME games: haggis, Tummy Tingling Tuchanka Sauce, asari honey marinade, thresher steaks, ramen, bacon, cheese, sage, chocolate lava bomb cake (I think it's cake), etc. It's also mentioned that sage, cheese, chocolate, and bacon have dextro counterparts. There's also Javik's frequent mentions of what Protheans used to eat. TheUnknown285 (talk) 14:39, February 11, 2014 (UTC)
protheans eat entire races. allegedly. krogan eat anything. thresher maws eat krogan. and everything else. this'll be unfair to all known races (and a bunch of inanimate objects), they'll get listed simply for the fact that others can eat them. the bar should be set at foodstuffs with a modicum of preparation: boiled/fried hanar, salarian liver/kidneys, varren leg/steaks, pyjak meat, thresher steaks (where is this again), dot dot dot.
Tummy Tingling Tuchanka Sauce, asari honey marinade, worth mentioning even with the distinct lack of info about them other than 2 context-heavy sentences. both have unique ME spins on ordinary seasonings. the others, well, they're just ordinary IRL foods that so happened to be near fictional characters. dextro variants of human foods do present another avenue for data organization, but we'll still need more to determine an overall pattern.
a separate foods page has the potential to be made but i've yet to see an organizational framework to tie all known bits into a coherent whole. i saw something with the drinks and ran with it, for the moment i can't see squat on food. further R&D definitely needed at the very least. Just a quick note: ale, as in the batarian kind, is a form of beer. TheUnknown285 (talk) 14:39, February 11, 2014 (UTC)

hmm, tricky. given that ascension definitively pegs beer as a human drink that got alien variants, it's best we don't define "batarian" ale as a beer subtype yet. for all we know "ale" means something else in the batarian lexicon, or that it could've been a centuries-old delicacy among their people that so happened to be called an "ale". Pictures

Shouldn't we add one or two pictures to improve the layout? I can provide some from comics if needed. Miranda and her champagne could also be a great "cover picture" even if it's MEG and not one of the main game. --DeldiRe (talk) 10:52, February 11, 2014 (UTC)

strange. i could've sworn i saw in this wiki that MEG picture of miranda and jacob celebrating. must've been included with the mass deletion of unused galaxy files over a year past. if i can't find it, reupload of that scene approved. i have some picture reshufflings in mind.
i do plan on including one or two illustrations though i haven't gotten around to the capping spree. there's one ready to go, another in the concept stages. how many can be included still depends on how much text content can be put in here, as it currently stands it's safe to say "not many". I can upload the champagne picture from MEG but its in "low" quality. Interested? Or you can use this one which is also in low quality (and bad POV). I can also take some good shots from the comics as "cover picture" for the article if you want. --DeldiRe (talk) 10:12, February 12, 2014 (UTC)

that wasn't the scene i remember seeing. and we don't do low quality.

anyway, seems no one else has anything substantial to add, so voting open. lore-based edits still permitted if anything comes at you.
