I’m working on a creative writing project set in the Mass Effect universe, and I’d like to extract the conversations in the first game to use for character background research. I want to be thorough and show respect for the subject matter, doubly so after the response to Mass Effect: Deception. Playing through the game and saving before conversations so I can go back and try multiple options does work, but it would be much quicker if I could simply convert the different conversation clips to a format I could use outside of Mass Effect.
I have tried the Nereid’s Oggextract binary, but was unable to extract any useful files. So I am either using the extractor incorrectly, or I may be trying to extract sounds from the wrong file directories. Has anyone successfully use Oggextract on ME1’s game files, and if so which directories did you find the conversations in?
