Mass Effect Wiki

For instance, alot of the information will be tied together by character name, or location, or weapon, etc. So, if I'm searching in the wiki for information, how is it going to be delineated between the different versions, as to which it applies to: ME1, ME2, and eventually ME3? Example, in ME1, Liara is a playable team-mate, in ME2, she is just a story element, not playable, so she shouldn't be listed under squad members anymore. As well, I came to the site hoping to find out how to hack a Datapad in ME2, but there is, as yet, no information on this subject, and logically, I don't see where it is going to fit in the structure you have created for the ME1 game.

Well, if you look at the site, we distinguish within articles between ME and ME2. Let's look at your example: Liara T'Soni, and compare her to Garrus Vakarian (who appears in both) and Thane who is in ME2. Now, Liara's article has clearly delineated sections for Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. The Mass Effect section makes it clear she is a squad member, and the Mass Effect 2 section makes it clear she is not. Her page features a "squad members footer" for ME and ME only, and on the Characters page, she is listed as a Mass Effect squad member. Contrast this to Garrus. Both the ME and ME2 sections make clear he is a squad member, his page features both an ME and an ME2 squad members footer, and he is listed as both a Mass Effect squad member and a Mass Effect 2 squad member on the Characters page. Finally, Thane has no Mass Effect section to his article, he is listed as an ME2 squad member, has an ME2 squad members footer, and is listed as an ME2 squad member on the Characters page. Crossover for ME3 squad members will be handled in the same manner. So there is no issue about people who "shouldn't be listed under squad members anymore" as we differentiate between squad members by game.

Same thing would hold true for things such as hacking. If it works differently in ME2 than it did in ME, make a section to the article entitled Mass Effect 2 and insert the relevant information there. SpartHawg948 07:24, January 23, 2010 (UTC)

Ok, I see the logic in this now. For some reason this wasn't making sense to me at first. I can hardly wait for the ME2 content get alot more fleshed out. Now that I understand the structure, I will attempt to add what I can to it. Since I'm still new, it will take me a while to get the hang of it and I want to look around at what exist to make sure what I edit/add makes sense. :)
