Other Notes

as of this writing bioware has no public plans to release new comic content. it's time for the wiki to organize its articles to a standard format, which hasn't been done before. we had few items to work with back then, but now certain patterns have emerged from which we can assemble reasonable templates for future works.

credit goes to retired admin User:Commdor for first demonstrating the general idea with Mass Effect: Foundation and related issues.

multi-issue comics
if a comic title has multiple issues, the main article for it turns into a hub page linking to individual issues. see Mass Effect: Homeworlds and Mass Effect: Foundation. retroactively, this should apply to evolution, redemption, and incursion, all with four issues and eight nice cover artworks each.
issue formatting
see Mass Effect: Foundation 13 for a sample of how individual issues should look like. retroactively, this should apply to all one-shot comics published as of january 2015.
storyline integration
to save on article space and pointless edits we've used DPL to simply pull story content from individual issues and display them in the Storyline articles. this drastically cuts down on redundancy and maintenance duties since the story section of issue articles and the storyline sections both deal with the same thing.
thusly, this project aims to also set in stone the standard operating procedure of inscribing DPL markup on the storyline articles whenever comic content is concerned.

Comments[]

if any of you have things to add/remove/modify, sound off below. i'm taking comments for a week starting from timestamp. if what we currently have on supporting content is good enough (either due to absence of dissent or actual comments), i can simply have this passed then i'll write up the requisite legalese in short order. I support this addition for more clarity and I agree with most of the points. However, the first point you raised is not that clear if I remember well. We introduced HUB pages for multi-issues not only because of multi-issues but mostly because the issues weren't related to each other (different characters and stories). I also see that you changed your mind about HUB page ;). That said, I won't oppose for HUB page for each multi-issue comics even if it is, in my opinion) less needed than HUB page for multi-issues such as Homeworld & Foundation.

nb: If you plan to add this point in MoS, I would suggest to think about rewriting and simplifying the entire MoS, I think that MoS and Guidelines are really not easy to read or to understand for newcomers. Maybe we should rewrite it (not changing the content!) to prepare the arrival of potential of new ME4 editors.--DeldiRe (talk) 09:43, January 5, 2015 (UTC)

What is the status of this change?--DeldiRe (talk) 12:53, March 2, 2015 (UTC)
I'm all for the hub pages, so no objections from me. Del, to which degree the issues are parts of the same story is not something I think we need to consider -- even if they share the title they were still published as separate issues, which should primarily determine how we present them on the wiki. Of course, I just pointed the main reasons why we introduced a HUB page for Homeworld while Commdor was not in favor of the idea at that time (for a 4 issues comic). --DeldiRe (talk) 16:15, March 2, 2015 (UTC)

stuff happens. a shitton of stuff. now that some of them have been dealt with on my end (and i genuinely forgot about this for a couple of months), ground rules based entirely on what worked prior have been set.
