Other Notes

So here's the deal, for those of you who aren't aware, Wikia is undergoing an upgrade of the MediaWiki software from the currently used 1.16 to 1.19. Now, as many people know, when you have upgrades, you get bugs. And for those of us more tech savvy, when you use the base code, and then heavily modify it, you get even more. Wikia uses a very heavily modified version of the MediaWiki software to run all of its wikis because of all the features it runs.

Now, I started this forum because many wikis, including some of the largest, are reporting a lot of bugs, so having them all centralized is probably a good idea. Wookieepedia is apparently one of the big ones and has a pretty big list, so I'm taking a few things from them.

You can read about the upgrade above in the link, report issues below, and discuss below.

List of Bugs[]

Report any bugs associated with Wikia, not the Mass Effect Series here. Please use a "*" to start. List where the bug is (with a link if possible), what feature, what is happening, if expanding on another one use "**", and finally list who is reporting it. If you can see something that you were going to report, then there is no need to report it again. Just list in the discussion section that you are experiencing it as well. If the problem was resolved, then please note that in the discussion section.

AJAX Feature[]

Since the AJAX feature, used to auto update our RC and Wiki Activity pages is not supported by Wikia, we'll have to keep an eye on it and upgrade it manually. Any users who experience a problem with this feature should contact an admin immediately and we will look into it. Lancer1289 (talk) 16:59, July 12, 2012 (UTC)

The Auto-Refresh may be the culprit here. When I uncheck the Auto-Refresh, the collapsing edits appears to work fine. The caveat is unchecking the Auto-Refresh caused it to disappear.  teugeneTalkContr 02:23, July 13, 2012 (UTC)

Discussion[]

If it would please all involved, I would like to make a blog linking to this page on the Community Council wiki. That should give all of these bugs a bit more recognition. Is anybody opposed to this? Arbington (talk) 02:33, July 13, 2012 (UTC)

None. Lancer1289 (talk) 02:40, July 13, 2012 (UTC)
And it's done. Hopefully that will be of use to the people at Wikia who are tasked with fixing these bugs. Arbington 03:18, July 13, 2012 (UTC)
