Major Coats is a British Alliance soldier stationed on Earth under the command of Admiral Anderson.
Major Coats is voiced by Nicholas Boulton.[1]
Prior to the events of Mass Effect 3 Coats spent three days inside the Big Ben clock tower, shooting at anything that moved.

During the final battle on Earth Coats provides covering fire as Shepard is extracted by the UT-47 Kodiak Drop Shuttle. Later on he is ordered to coordinate the artillery strikes by Admiral Anderson as Shepard makes his way to the Citadel. He can also be heard on the radio, after Shepard is hit by the Reaper beam, telling all surviving Alliance troops to fall back.
Trivia
- Coats first appeared inside of Big Ben during the debut trailer for Mass Effect 3 and appeared again in the full "Take Earth Back" trailer.
- Nicolas Boulton, who voices Coats, has also provided voices for other BioWare games, including The Old Republic, Dragon Age: Origins, and most notably Dragon Age 2, where he voiced the male version of the protagonist, Hawke.
