Player Notes[]

Mechanics
  • Proximity Mines explode if an enemy is nearby after the mine attaches to terrain after being deployed. While this attack is weaker than standard grenades and triggers a long cooldown, it is not limited in quantity as grenades are.
    • Mines detonate instantly if they hit an enemy directly after being launched.
    • A mine that is not triggered will self-destruct in approximately 10 seconds.
    • Recasting the mine while one is already active in a location will immediately detonate the original mine.
  • When fired, the Proximity Mine travels in a straight line towards your crosshair. However, it is not fired directly down it; rather, depending on the cover the player is in, it will be fired slightly to the left, the right, or below the crosshair, making it easy to hit intervening obstacles and miss your target.
    • Mines have an effectively unlimited range and can be shot accurately using a scope on weapons with one equipped. However, when looked at through a weapon scope, a planted mine may vanish from view.
  • Proximity Mine's detonation can hit enemies through cover, up to the limit of its radius.
Strategies
  • Unlike most powers, Proximity Mine can hit an unlimited number of enemies, similar to grenades. This makes it excellent for killing groups of Swarmers in one go. This also makes its rank 5 debuffs and its ability to stagger lighter enemies uniquely powerful.
  • Proximity Mines are great for snipers as they can be deployed nearby to protect a vulnerable flank.
  • It's quite handy for knocking enemies out of cover or hitting them through walls.
  • The Damage Taken evolution at rank 5 can make the mines an excellent choice to make tough, dangerous enemies such as Brutes, Ravagers, Banshees, Atlases, and Geth Primes easier to take down.
  • Proximity Mine can be used to great effect in tandem with weapons that have an area of effect such as the Scorpion. If the Rank 5 Damage Taken evolution is taken, all the enemies caught in the blast will take increased damage. Since many weapons that fire explosive projectiles also stagger most enemies, this tactic can suppress as well as wear down enemy attack groups.
    • To make this tactic even more effective, utilize Incendiary/Disruptor/Cryo ammo or rounds. Proximity Mine can detonate fire, cryo, and tech Power Combos.
  • Corpses of recently slain enemies will lure Cannibals to feed, so Proximity Mines can be planted nearby as a trap.
  • A Geth Hunter Infiltrator with maxed out power damage can do 3340 damage if the Proximity Mine detonates whilst the player is in Tactical Cloak.
