Canon?[]
Can we concicer trailer information as canon and valid? I am not sure if ANN deserves an article. 94.70.27.18 20:47, June 25, 2011 (UTC)
- I don't see why it wouldn't be. It comes from an official ME3 trailer released by BioWare. Why would BioWare go to the trouble of making this trailer for ME3 if nothing in it meshed with the ME universe? -- Commdor (Talk) 20:57, June 25, 2011 (UTC)
- I agree with the above, but games have been to known to contradict trailers at times. I would say that what's in a trailer is canon unless it contradicts one of the games; they take precedence. DarwinSighs 21:36, June 25, 2011 (UTC)
- The original Mass Effect trailer is what sprung in my mind. Had nothing to do with what was in the game. It used planets, one from ME, another that eventually shows up in ME2, but not in the context that they appear in the game. More just to highlight the fact that big decisions are going to be made in the game. Late to the party on this one I know, but I often do not pay attention to the trailers for just that reason. The Chinese People's Federation??[]
Not sure if anyone else knows but hes not speaking Chinese, but Japanese. I am not sure is Japan is part of the the Chinese People's Federation in the future cannon of Mass Effect. Maybe this should be change?
- If that's true, then the CPF should be removed and nothing added. Maybe the reporter is speaking Japanese, but we currently have no lore mentioning Japan or its condition in the ME universe at the time of ME through ME3. In short, we don't know if Japan still exists or not as the country it is today. -- Commdor (Talk) 15:23, February 2, 2012 (UTC)
- In ME1 Japanese is talked about as one of the country banks which you can get credit's from but that's all. I changed it but it was change back by Lancer. DeadpoolShep (Talk) 23:39, 2 February, 2012
- That Codex entry also refers to "Mexican pesos", even though we know Mexico is part of the United North American States. It's still possible that Mexico could have its own regional currency, but you can see how that Codex entry alone doesn't provide concrete info about a nation's status at the time of ME. I'll remove the CPF, but Japan can't replace it in the article until we get more info. -- Commdor (Talk) 15:55, February 2, 2012 (UTC)
- Probably for the best. Lancer1289 16:24, February 2, 2012 (UTC)

Taking the place of Cerberus Daily News?[]
It seems as though the Alliance News Network is taking the place of the old Cerberus Daily News (which makes sense considering Shepherd is back with the Alliance and no longer with Cerberus). An update on the Mass Effect 2 Facebook profile said that updates are supposed to come every Friday. So, should this page be updated to follow the format of the CDN page or folded into that page? TheUnknown285 02:44, February 4, 2012 (UTC)
- We're going to wait and see, there's a lot we don't know. We're still expecting a final two weeks of CDN reports soon and the ANN may not be a replacement for those. The ANN reports could also stop after Mass Effect 3 releases, so it wouldn't make sense to do the archive system for only five reports. -- Commdor (Talk) 02:52, February 4, 2012 (UTC)
- The wait and see approach is probably the best way in this case. If it becomes regular, then perhaps, but if not, then really no. We will again just have to play this one by ear. Lancer1289 02:53, February 4, 2012 (UTC)
I was wondering if the Twitter thing would ultimately become the replacement. When Cerberus Daily News ended, Bioware said that it would return for a few weeks preceding DLC releases and for two weeks before Mass Effect 3 would be released. I do not have Mass Effect 2 set up at the moment so I cannot check if updates are being posted there. Can anyone confirm that something is returning and taking the place of Cerberus Daily News? He Who Plays 06:48, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
- BioWare confirmed we should start seeing new reports on ME2 sometime tomorrow. -- Commdor (Talk) 06:52, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
Translation[]
Didn't know about the trailer until yesterday, so I figured I'd translate the foreign parts for you. If anyone wants to add it to the main article, feel free to do so, I won't do it as I'm certain it'll be deleted because it's missing any sources other than me...
The first part is English so I'll obviously skip that.
French newscaster: J'ai rien là! Il me faut une information, vite! (I have nothing! I need some information, quick!)
German newscaster: Heute morgen um 8:13 Ortszeit geriet die Europäische Union unter Beschuss von Reaper-Kampfhubschraubern. (This morning at 8:13 am local time, the European Union came under fire by reaper attack helicopters.)

Japanese newscaster: 地球は現在、奇妙な静かさに包まれたのです。 (Right now the world is shrouded in a peculiar silence.)

Thank you Knuff. DeadpoolShep 01:17, February 16, 2012
Glad you found it ;) Btw, does anyone know what a "Reaper attack helicopter" could be? Has anything like that ever been mentioned or talked about? Knuff 16:36, February 15, 2012 (UTC)
How to handle content from Codex into article[]
Should we include content from the Alliance News Network codex form ME3? How do we separate the description and possible agents of this organization with the news content that streams in?
In addition, this is not a Systems Alliance organization. According to the codex, it is now a multi-species-owned organization that originally was human-controlled, but never apart of the Alliance military. - (Lone Hunter 21:17, March 7, 2012 (UTC))
- First this isn't a Codex, there is only Codex. This is news reports. We've also have a way of doing this already. Lancer1289 21:50, March 7, 2012 (UTC)
In-game role?[]
What role does the ANN play in the game? For instance, do these various reports appear in the game. If so, how and where does the player see them? The article does not explain this at all. RS89 (talk) 05:23, January 19, 2014 (UTC)
- These reports were part of the viral advertisements leading up to ME3's release. ANN does appear in the game, notable in the form of Diana Allers and via News Stories. Garhdo (talk) 19:25, January 19, 2014 (UTC)
ANN cleanup proposal[]
Hi,
I'd like to clean ANN article and related page on basis on what I have done on my sandbox. My proposal: several page should be updated and I'd like to have community input before implementation:
- User:DeldiRe/Sandbox/ANN : Minor reorganization of the main article in a chronological order and to link new pages.
- User:DeldiRe/Sandbox/Alliance News Network Reports : Page to replace the current page "ANN Reports - March 2012". This update is "needed" because there is also several report in February and because the reference to March is not necessary. The new page aggregate every report in one article with some minor changes.
- User:DeldiRe/Sandbox/Alliance News Network Blogs : Creation of a small article about the two N7 spec ops blogs.
- User:DeldiRe/Sandbox/Alliance News Information Partners : reordering the shipboard news regarding their title.
If those updates passes, the related pages (where links are present) will be updated accordingly. Thanks for your input. Do not hesitate to edit my sandbox if you feel that it has an added value. --DeldiRe (talk) 12:07, September 10, 2014 (UTC)
multipage proposals should have been taken to the projects forum, not here. you are changing too many stuff to conform to -your- vision of what they should be when in the first place frankly most everything was fine as it is. yes on some, no on others, nothing more is to be done unless properly deliberated and voted on. T̴̴͕̲̞̳̖̼̱͒͛̎͒ͫ̃ͧeͩ̈̽̈҉͓̝̰̼̦̫̤̀͠m̫̪̪̯̻͎̫̅̇̓̇͌̚p̸̙̝̓̓͌ͨ͆ͣͥ̂̕o͒̽͐̽͏̞̬̻͕͔͕͚̰͍͠͞ṙ̢̞͚͈̹̰ͨ̓ͭ̈́̌ạ̢̧̪̹̺̺̣̹̲͂͆̏ͪͨ͒ͭř̹͈͜͠y̷͍̻̜̹̼̾̽̈́e̵̹̼̟̦͚͐̈́͌͘d͉̲̣̻͉̱͗̅ḭ̷̻̆͋̆̓̔͝t̨͍̦̫̗͂̅̍̋̆ͩ͝ộ̫̟̬̳̝̲̾ͫ̒̿ͮ̑̚rͯ̎ͨͭ̄̿̽͛҉̠̫̱̠̘̘̲́ͅ7̩̻ͤͩͨ͝͡8̜̣̙͇̻ͨ͛͛̆͒̆̽̒͐͜͡ ͥ̍̉̃̇ͥ̓ͨ͏̕҉̥̹͓̗̤̠̖̤ (talk) 07:55, September 30, 2014 (UTC)
I have aggregated those pages here because the changes are really small and are already covered elsewhere. The aggregation here is to put attention to it for the community:
- ANN blogs: it's a page which is covered by the new MoS (I just added it here to have a last input if the community wanted to say something about it) and I already asked question on this point months ago with no input
- ANN IP : covered in this forum : Forum:Official_lore_content_from_external_sources_-_Current_projects, we also discussed that topic several months ago (I can't remember where, but I can check if you want). Moreover, it's just a minor change regarding the title (instead of a "arbitrary" chosen name) of the blogs.
- ANN reports: I made an "official" proposal on the page with the "delete" template.
- ANN main article: I made a proposal to clean the page (as requested on the page) on the right talk page. Moreover, it's also minor reorganization to include the changes on others pages. I only added the three other changes to help other editors to understand the cleanup.
As you can see, I tried to get community input, I don't want to conform things to MY vision, I always ask input, it's not my fault if I don't receive any. The only tricky point for you is the ANNIP page because you created the order for shipboard news, to conform to - your - vision of what they should be (to quote you). The organization of shipboard news was really fine as it was (is) but things can always be improved (for example, when I created the ANNIP page in the first place, I didn't know that I could also have added the shipboard news, that's an improvement that you brought and I supported it...)... Especially when I tried to conform to your standard as you always ask to stick to what we have instead of "arbitrary" choices.--DeldiRe (talk) 08:24, September 30, 2014 (UTC)
long story short: you're remodeling a ton of pages. everything else is irrelevant. formalize in a project page or nothing. T̴̴͕̲̞̳̖̼̱͒͛̎͒ͫ̃ͧeͩ̈̽̈҉͓̝̰̼̦̫̤̀͠m̫̪̪̯̻͎̫̅̇̓̇͌̚p̸̙̝̓̓͌ͨ͆ͣͥ̂̕o͒̽͐̽͏̞̬̻͕͔͕͚̰͍͠͞ṙ̢̞͚͈̹̰ͨ̓ͭ̈́̌ạ̢̧̪̹̺̺̣̹̲͂͆̏ͪͨ͒ͭř̹͈͜͠y̷͍̻̜̹̼̾̽̈́e̵̹̼̟̦͚͐̈́͌͘d͉̲̣̻͉̱͗̅ḭ̷̻̆͋̆̓̔͝t̨͍̦̫̗͂̅̍̋̆ͩ͝ộ̫̟̬̳̝̲̾ͫ̒̿ͮ̑̚rͯ̎ͨͭ̄̿̽͛҉̠̫̱̠̘̘̲́ͅ7̩̻ͤͩͨ͝͡8̜̣̙͇̻ͨ͛͛̆͒̆̽̒͐͜͡ ͥ̍̉̃̇ͥ̓ͨ͏̕҉̥̹͓̗̤̠̖̤ (talk) 08:28, September 30, 2014 (UTC)
Indeed, short story: a forum for every change in a title. I will be off the wiki for a while, I'm tired of being insulted just like yesterday (I will just finish the pictures for MEPL).--DeldiRe (talk) 09:19, September 30, 2014 (UTC)
As requested by the tag "cleanup" proposal, here is a proposition for the new page with a minor reorganization of the main article (in a chronological order) and to link to new pages (such as blog reports). Feel free to edit my sanbox to improve the content. --DeldiRe (talk) 16:26, December 11, 2014 (UTC)
- After 3-4 months, I received no more input for the cleanup proposal (only for this page). I will implement those changes tonight (see: User:DeldiRe/Sandbox/ANN. If someone feels that a vote or a forum is needed before this minor cleanup, he can shoot!--DeldiRe (talk) 10:42, March 5, 2015 (UTC)
- incorporate the article's miscellaneous grammar fixes to your sandbox mockup and then maybe your cleanup scheme can be implemented. maybe. First, I will ask you politely to change your tone of voice when you speak to me, it's offending. Secondly, it's not your call to say maybe as every editors are equal. Third, thanks anyway for your remark, I will look into it.--DeldiRe (talk) 12:59, March 5, 2015 (UTC)
Cleaning has been done, feel free to check for any remaining mistake in the article. --DeldiRe (talk) 08:21, March 12, 2015 (UTC)
