When talking to Chellick at C-Sec, the Charm option is greyed out and unavailable at Charm Level 6 for me.Queinty 10:54, March 31, 2011 (UTC)
- I just did this the other day and six was enough for me. Lancer1289 15:55, March 31, 2011 (UTC)
Talk to Rita tocomplete?[]
On the 360, the Assignment shows as complete after talking to Chellik and before going back to Rita. Is this different from the PC version? --Morgan-wolf 06:08, April 15, 2011 (UTC)
What is the use of SLIs?[]
Are SLIs truly better than actual mission-specific images? U Kataka (talk) 01:11, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
- these are the actual save/load images extracted from the OG (and andromeda) files and are standard across all assignments and missions. do not fuck around with them. you're more than welcome to add stuff at the main body of the page depending on how appropriate it syncs with the text, but then again there are limits. Morality point guide links[]
As for "out of place" I think we'll have to have a discussion on that. People are always going to want to know point totals/requirements especially for ME1 on all assignments. If that info isn't presented up front on these walkthroughs they won't know where to look and will try and make edits like the recent one. We need to be willing to cater to the needs of the type of player who actually needs these guides the most and aren't likely to be familiar with the Wiki or its resources. Neo89515 (talk) 15:54, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
- Although I didn't see it in a spot-check of the Manual of Style, I remember learning (8-ish years ago) that specific Paragon/Renegade values had been relegated to the three Morality Guide pages, but the ones already noted in walkthroughs at that time were "grandfathered in". I don't really know the reason for that and I couldn't find the discussion where that consensus was once reached on a cursory search, but I remember that is How Things Were Handed Down To Us. Consensus, as always, can change, but I think that's the story. Cattlesquat (talk) 20:56, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
- Seems to be a somewhat separate issue though, because we're not talking about someone removing point totals or bar requirements, but trying to add them in because they aren't mentioned here. There was a link to the Morality Guide page at the bottom but now that's been removed too. I feel that user's pain. If we're going to make the Morality Guide page where to go to look up that information (which I agree with) then we need to do something to point people from the walkthroughs TO that page for that information (and if that's not allowed, that I definitely do not agree with). I personally would support a simple "for" redirect at the tops of all ME1 assignment walkthroughs with heavy morality components that would just read "for morality point totals and charm/renegade level requirements for this and all other assignments, see Morality Guide." There's a line between guiding newer users and "spoonfeeding" them of course, but people trying to edit in point totals etc. to these pages is very common, likely as they are not being sufficiently made aware of where that information IS. Providing a redirect for what is very commonly looked for information would 1) reduce confusion for newer users and 2) reduce headaches for us removing these edits . Neo89515 (talk) 22:13, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
- to be clear, there's nothing wrong with linking to relevant sections in whatever guides. the problem is emphasizing that shit when it has no business being front and center. guide pages are aggregates, and most of a guide is irrelevant to the mission/assignment at hand save for the section about the mission/assignment itself.
- learn how to incorporate these things in an understated manner. T̴̴͕̲̞̳̖̼̱͒͛̎͒ͫ̃ͧeͩ̈̽̈҉͓̝̰̼̦̫̤̀͠m̫̪̪̯̻͎̫̅̇̓̇͌̚p̸̙̝̓̓͌ͨ͆ͣͥ̂̕o͒̽͐̽͏̞̬̻͕͔͕͚̰͍͠͞ṙ̢̞͚͈̹̰ͨ̓ͭ̈́̌ạ̢̧̪̹̺̺̣̹̲͂͆̏ͪͨ͒ͭř̹͈͜͠y̷͍̻̜̹̼̾̽̈́e̵̹̼̟̦͚͐̈́͌͘d͉̲̣̻͉̱͗̅ḭ̷̻̆͋̆̓̔͝t̨͍̦̫̗͂̅̍̋̆ͩ͝ộ̫̟̬̳̝̲̾ͫ̒̿ͮ̑̚rͯ̎ͨͭ̄̿̽͛҉̠̫̱̠̘̘̲́ͅ7̩̻ͤͩͨ͝͡8̜̣̙͇̻ͨ͛͛̆͒̆̽̒͐͜͡ ͥ̍̉̃̇ͥ̓ͨ͏̕҉̥̹͓̗̤̠̖̤ (talk) 22:34, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
- Very well, I will try learn that. And maybe others also need to learn that when we're seeing multiple instances of people trying to add in point totals it's a sign that they're not being adequately pointed to where to go for that information. Sorry if this ruffles feathers, but people don't come to these pages to admire how good the text flows or whatever, most of the time they just want to look up some information and get back to playing. When we see a need for making sure the pages are informing people, we should be willing to make the tiny amount of effort needed to provide it, rather than literally REMOVING even existing links to those guides. Bug - how you deal with Jax irrelevant[]
The description of the bug where you can't get the reward for completing the assignment with Chellick currently states that you have to complete the Jax encounter peacefully. I had the bug occur after even killing him, meaning that how Jax is dealt with is irrelevant to the bug occurring. What matters is that you talked with Rita prior to completing the Jax portion and talking to Chellick. Neo89515 (talk) 15:07, 21 January 2023 (UTC)
- For your information, this is the bug as it was treated and fixed in the Community Patch. However there's not much detail as to its exact nature. I looked into the conversation files, and I see the issue: doing the persuasion thing with Chellick triggers the transition "Jenna has been released", which, if you go to Rita, triggers her conversation where she thanks you, which contains a trigger to complete the quest. So it doesn't matter if you go to her before or after dealing with Jax, or whichever way you deal with Jax. Just convince Chellick then go to Rita and the quest is complete. However it's hard to say if this wasn't intended; didn't BioWare want you to be able to basically screw Chellick and skip his task?--Loadingue (talk) 00:29, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
- Good to know. What doesn't make sense is that Chellick would enlist you to take Rita's place, ask you to talk to Jax, you deal with Jax, and then have Chellick not respond (in any Jax outcome), which is what can currently happen. That can't have been intended. Neo89515 (talk) 00:33, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
- Ah yes, if the plot is marked as complete while having skipped Jax, then Chellick will simply say "Not now" if you try to talk to him. And it's a bit weird. Chellick doesn't have anything in his conversation, cut or not, that would fit the situation where you skipped the deal with Jax. Safest bet is to assume talking to Rita shouldn't complete the quest, and besides as the Community Patch modders noticed, talking to Chellick after the deal completes the quest anyway. In any case, I think that's the whole story.--Loadingue (talk) 00:51, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
