Re-Spectred[]

Is there any advantage in Mass Effect 2 to become a spectre again? I allways choose to be reintitled because it might have an effect in the third part of the series, but what about the actual game, Mass Effect 2?

There are a few small dialogue choices in a few assignments, Thane: Sins of the Father, Citadel: Found Forged ID, and I think a few others. There is also some different dialogue in the new DLC pack Lair of the Shadow Broker, that probably changes depending on if you are a Spectre or not. Overall there isn't much of an impact in ME2, but I agree that it probably will have a big effect on ME3. Lancer1289 23:55, September 15, 2010 (UTC)
There's also different dialogue in ME3 in two places. First, on Earth, where Shepard is unsure if the Council will help Earth, Anderson (now an Admiral regardless of prior political status) says that since Shepard's a Spectre, "that has to count for something." Second, after meeting with the Council for the first time, the turian councilor will say that he is "upholding" rather than "reinstating" your Spectre status. This also means that you can access the Spectre office before meeting with the Council (though at that point you can only buy the Spectre weapons or access the shooting range). Meeting the Council after Suicide Mission[]

I've been wondering, is there different dialogue or there is no difference at all? I'm asking since on Youtube, they always meet council early in the game or after Horizon and I forgot to do so in my playthrough. Thanks for answers!! --Knoxxie 09:26, December 26, 2010 (UTC)

I went to the Council after the Suicide Mission. While on the one hand having the intelligence gathered from the suicide mission does not alter the dialogue, having Legion in your squad, on the other hand, does. Shepard still states they suspect the Collectors work with/for the Reapers, even if the Collector Base is preserved (and therefore forms hard evidence). Legion however comments on one single statement by the Salarian Councilor regarding the Geth being able to construct a Reaper-like Dreadnaught (which does not change the Councilors' minds in the slightest). Also Councilor Anderson has unique dialogue when Legion is in your squad, briefly explaining why he hasn't been destroyed yet although coming to the Citadel with you. The Council (including Anderson) refer to Legion as Shepard's "trophy". --CE-Proof (talk) 01:05, May 15, 2013 (UTC)

Picture on Counselor's desk[]

Isn't it always Kaidan's picture, regardless of who died on Virmire? A bug, no doubt, but still worth a note/correction where it's mentioned under Trivia. --IceQuinn (talk) 01:42, August 3, 2013 (UTC)

not a "bug" unless proven to happen to multiple people. that said, i was about to dismiss this when one of my femsheps (import, kaidan romance, dead ash) disproved initial assumptions during claim verification. anderson apparently has hots for kaidan as well. too lazy to dig up my archived saves stored elsewhere, but even if i confirm (or alternatively prove that it's not always kaidan) for more of my own playthroughs no change is permitted on the article regarding this unless another guy comes along and reports the same thing. Picture of non-romanced but very much alive Kaidan detected in at least one of my imported femshep saves as well. Elseweyr (talk) 15:00, August 3, 2013 (UTC)
I've seen Kaidan's picture in both my save where he dies and my save where he lives. Garhdo (talk) 17:20, August 3, 2013 (UTC)
None of my three Kaidan-preserving playthroughs have Ash on the table. Maybe the article should be changed until someone comes along and disproves it the other way. — Elseweyr (talk) 14:52, August 25, 2013 (UTC)
Well, I only brought this up (and assumed it was a bug) because I've known it's happened to other players as well, regardless of who was sacrificed on Virmire (would then be featured on the picture), that much is inaccurate, I guess would be safe to say - though I've never heard of it being Ashley (nor have I seen that in any of my saves, whether she was dead or alive). I do agree 100%, for the purposes of this Wiki, that, like everything else it must be verified/confirmed before an edit, which is why I brought it forward for discussion.:)
If I may point out, though, I think this can be easily missed, or dismissed, because, not every player knows about the connection (photo/Virmire death), and may find perfectly natural for Anderson to keep a picture of Kaidan on his desk (why not, right). I've actually read a couple "theories", jokes, speculation and whatnot - alluding to something else (long lost son, unrequited love, etc...), and some really seem to be clueless about this. But again, as it relates to the Wiki, I just thought this should be corrected, clarified or at least brought to attention. I was actually surprised once I stumbled upon this, honestly under the impression it was pretty much common knowledge at this juncture... --IceQuinn (talk) 05:18, August 4, 2013 (UTC)
Confirming IceQuinn, Elseweyr and Gardho. Three widely-varying playthroughs and each time it's Kaidan, regardless of whether I sacrificed him or Williams. Regardless of whether the all-Kaidan pic is a bug or intentional, the line in the article saying it sometimes shows Williams is clearly wrong. Also, why the veiled bureaucratic hostility towards somebody simply reporting a bug? It's not like he made some ridiculous statement. The admin vibe around this place reminds me of Udina from ME1 sometimes; a lot of surly harrumphing anytime anybody points out a flaw, no matter how minor or plausible. 98.26.213.10 10:12, September 11, 2013 (UTC)
per policy this has been admissible ever since one person after me confirmed this bug. none of you ever stepped up to the plate and changed the article yourselves, and you were wondering what exactly? don't bother answering, read the talkpage notice above.
