If I tell Conrad to go away the very first time I talk with him does he reappears after another mission? Cgs93 01:24, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Oblivion Reference?[edit source]

Conrad reminds me an awful lot like the Adoring Fan from Oblivion. Same hair color, same obsession with the main character, and they're both as annoying as nails on a chalkboard. Might be worth throwing it in the Trivia section. 17:30, February 21, 2010 (UTC)

No, the hair color is similar, but hardly identical, and the obsession and annoyance are hardly notable, and both being annoying as "nails on a chalkboard" is an extremely subjective statement. Factor in that they look nothing alike, sound nothing alike, and your interactions with them are nothing alike (Verner wants a handshake and a picture and to be a Spectre, while the Adoring fan wants to follow you around everywhere) and it seems like a non-reference. Now, if it were actually an option to take Verner with you, sure, I'd agree it was a reference. As is, doesn't really seem that way. SpartHawg948 20:15, March 10, 2010 (UTC)

Conrad screenshot[edit source]

An image of one of the conversations with Commander Shepard could (in my opinion) add to this article - maybe one with respective Paragon/Renegade expression. I can take that screenshot if there is a need for one -- silverstrike 14:49, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Nice idea but we usually avoid taking shots with Shepard in them. See Talk:Screenshots. --Tullis 15:26, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
I agree. I thought of taking the screenshot without Shepard or cutting him out of the picture (if this does not mess the picture too much). I'll try to take a relevant image without Shepard in it and upload it. -- silverstrike 17:02, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

I have taken this image of Conrad without Shepard in it (although, you can still see his shoulder). I will try to gather more images of for that assignment.
Nice pic. We don't need loads of pics for an assignment this short: one good shot will do. --Tullis 17:41, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
What is the standard for taking screenshots (image size, maximum file size, DPI, etc.)? Just for future reference --silverstrike 17:47, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Bug?[edit source]

My char has Colonist War Hero background, but instead greeting her as War Hero, as it stated in article, Conrad refers to her as hero of Eden Prime.

I don't think what's stated in the article is correct, since I'm pretty sure I've been initially hailed as "the hero of Eden Prime" with every background. He does talk about the Blitz later, but I think I remember him mentioning Akuze and Torfan to relevant Shepards as well…someone should check that out. ShepardWhyThisJubilee 16:51, February 8, 2010 (UTC)
Five War Hero Shepards, five "Hero of Eden Prime"s. More or less 100% sure the article information is incorrect. ~~

Conrad will always mention it, as you will always meet him after the battle of Eden Prime. He will mention the Blitz, if you payed attention to his dialouge.MEffect Fan 09:13, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

So, the trivia needs to be revised then? Does Conrad mention the Blitz in lieu of mentioning Eden Prime, or in addition to it?--Effectofthemassvariety 09:16, May 24, 2010 (UTC)
Maybe, to be honest, I was not listening either. But when I think about, Conrad will start annoying you after he hears about Eden Prime and I guess not mention the Blitz at all. (Sidenote: Conrad is like Tingle from The Legend of Zelda, always bugging you.)MEffect Fan 09:49, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

I can confirm, just started character with War Hero background and literally just met Conrad a minute ago, and he said "hero of Eden Prime", so that trivia is incorrect or there is a bug. Xelestial 21:48, April 26, 2012 (UTC)

I can confirm this as well. Played through it twice now with the war-hero background and Conrad brought up Eden Prime on the first visit both times. Max7345 (talk) 10:13, January 5, 2013 (UTC):

ok, so after doing some not-extensive research™ on the topic i've decided to concur with the guy who removed it today. we got multiple reports posted here (and dated months to years ago) that war hero shep = "hero of eden prime". i personally tried hunting for war hero shepards being greeted by conrad on youtube (first five or so pages), all of them got hailed as "hero of eden prime" then later "elysium" and "skyllian blitz" is brought up.
anybody still insisting on shep being greeted as a "war hero" the first time talking to conrad, vid plz or you're dreaming. a detailed account of factors that may have led to it happening is pretty much mandatory as well (playing on xbox/ps3/pc? game version/dlcs installed? what war hero + spacer/colonist/earthborn combination worked? class? morality at the time? when was conrad spoken to? etc etc)
PS i said "not-extensive research" because i'm too lazy to fire up ME and start another war hero + x shepard for this. HOWEVER, in one of my long-archived playthroughs that had a war hero shep (lost, can't be bothered to dig up) i also seem to recall being hailed as a "hero of eden prime".

messed up order[edit source]

i was doing my final runthrough today and forgot to do this quest. i want to bring it over to mass effect 2. i am currently on the citadel before you go to ilos, and have only given him my autograph so far. is there any way to complete the quest?

Pretty sure you're screwed. I believe the quest only progresses when you leave and return to the Citadel (possibly requiring you to complete a mission in between). Since you're about to leave the Citadel for good, you're stuck. ShadowRanger 20:05, March 10, 2010 (UTC)
. . . That is unless you have some side missions you haven't done yet, such as the one on the moon, the one with the nuke, or the one with the self-destructing ai (wait, that one is on the citadel). After completing these you might be able to advance the quest. Merrell 21:19, March 10, 2010 (UTC)
That only works if he can return to the Citadel. If he's already reached the plot point indicated (the last visit to the Citadel before going to Ilos), then he can do all the missions he wants, but he can't actually visit the Citadel again (what with being wanted by C-Sec on spacecraft jacking charges). ShadowRanger 21:37, March 10, 2010 (UTC)
It is possible to to this mission by only going to Therum. Level up enough, I believe it is around 10 levels or so and Conrad will be back. My current campaign I was able to complete this mission without going to Noveria, Feros, or Virmire. But your situation, yea you can't finish it. Lancer1289 March 10, 2010 21:22 (UTC)

Just before Virmire[edit source]

So, I've had two interactions with him so far, but I've already done Therum, Noveria, and Feros. Will he be present for the third interaction after I finish Virmire?

He will, but at the same time, you should have already completed the assignment by the time you finish those three. Lancer1289 18:46, August 1, 2011 (UTC)

Bug or inaccuracy?[edit source]

I seemed to have run into a bug on my own, or an inaccuracy of the walkthrough; after running into Conrad for the first time, becoming a Spectre, leaving the Citadel, and then coming back, my PS3 decided to crash on the elevator ride to C-sec. After resetting my system and going back to where he usually shows up, he wasn't there for the second meeting.

After trying the "leave and come back" method a second time, then reloading to an earlier save, I was only able to get him to show up for the second interaction by playing through a main mission...but now he's not showing up for the third one. Given the solution to this last time, I'm going to see if playing through another main mission gets him to show up the third time a little later. Max7345 (talk) 10:07, January 5, 2013 (UTC)

Found a solution to this on my own a while ago: apparently, you need to make sure your alien squad's dialogue advances before attempting the second or (assuming you've done a primary mission) third meeting as far as assignments go. As in, do the assignment, then try talking to Wrex, Garrus, and/or Tali before even getting back into the galaxy map. If their dialogues advanced a bit (e.g. a new option comes up on the wheel or Wrex's vocabulary advances beyond "Shepard") then he should show up in his usual location once you head back to the Citadel.

Max7345 (talk) 10:20, February 28, 2013 (UTC)

Apparently that doesn't work reliably, either. I have just attempted this approach (after I have become Spectre I solved an assignment), but no Conrad Verner can be found in the Wards. Either something must have gone awry here, or the key is that in order to get this unstuck you have to do one of the main missions. And yes, I have given him an autograph after first reaching the Citadel and before becoming appointed a Spectre.

Robidu (talk) 16:47, July 25, 2013 (UTC)

In my testing (I've played this game at least 20 times over the years), the second dialog with Conrad only occurs after the first main world mission, and the third only occurs after the second world, despite what the Wiki says. Pretty sure this needs to be changed, but since I am not 100% on this, I will just leave it for others to verify. -- DeJuanNOnley (talk) 16:46, September 26, 2017 (UTC)
I was curious, so did some further testing. The above claim is true to a point. But, if you do enough assignments and return to the Citadel repeatedly, you can get the dialog to trigger without doing another mission. -- DeJuanNOnley (talk) 08:40, October 3, 2017 (UTC)

Mass Effect 3 consequences...[edit source]

You have a chance to reencounter Conrad Verner in the Refugee camp on the Citadel, providing he survived the incident on Illium in Mass Effect 2 (you have to either threaten him to stop his "investigation" or convince him that he has been of great help for your resolving the matter at hand).

At a certain point of time (I need to rerun this to figure out which one it is), once Shepard shows up on the scene, Verner accuses someone to be a criminal - with the one accused drawing his gun and attempting to shoot Shepard - only to have Verner throw himself into the projectile's path.

A few moment later, when Verner wonders why he hasn't been wounded, someone else reveals that she had sabotaged the criminal's gun so that the thermal magazine draws the heat, but no shot is fired.

I'm going to find out about the exact when and where this happens once I do my second run on ME3 and provide further details here.

Another Error/Glitch[edit source]

I'm replaying Mass effect and I think I've came across a glitch for this mission. In the second interaction I told Conrad to get lost and ended the assignment. Then on the third interaction I intimidated him. Later I got the elevator report that he died. So does this mean its screwed up for ME2 importing and if so is there a way to fix it?
