The supposed 'stun' effect[]

From my observations and testing, I've noticed a few things:

  • The stun, when it even works, is not a "ragdolling" effect like that of Neural Shock, but merely stops enemies in their tracks for a tiny duration during which time they can't do anything (attack or use abilities).
  • The stun, even at max level Damping, doesn't seem to affect organic enemies at all, only synthetic like the Geth. It doesn't for example, stop Rachni, Thorian Creepers, or Asari Commandos from moving or attacking, though the biotic and tech suppression does work if the target has those ability types.
  • Immunity does not appear to count as either a tech or biotic power, as enemies hit with Damping can still use Immunity.

from further testing Damping's stun on different enemy types, here are some additional observations:
  • Stun DOES work on "zombie" enemy types: Thorian Creepers, Husks, Saleon's "experiments"
  • Basically, it's standard organic gun-having infantry enemies that DON'T seem to get stopped
  • High tech resistance afforded by certain armor types worn by soldiers/mercs may have something to do with this; the duration on the "stun" esp for level 1 Damping is so short it's easy to miss, especially if it's further reduced by tech resistance. I've noticed, for example, that certain mercs are immune to even Level 3 Neural Shock on Insanity, notably inside Tonn Actus' base on Tuntau.

The stun works on majority of basic enemies, organic and synthetic alike. There is, however, an issue with an "action queue" of computer controlled actors. If you stun an enemy who is already charging at you or have started attack animation, he will finish current action first. Stun duration of Damping is so short that oftentimes it expires before said activity comes to an end. The same is true for AI Hacking - if you hack a charging Geth Destroyer or a Geth Turret which has already locked on a squad member, they will continue to pursue Shepard even if other enemies are closer. These effect is present for all types of adversaries, for some it's just easier to spot than for others. -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 19:04, October 6, 2020 (UTC)
That seems to make sense. I'm curious as to how this is known, though. Ale89515 (talk) 20:06, October 6, 2020 (UTC)
