Weapon Strategy Edit
Since this is a guide for the class, I think it's the place to discussing this. If the admins think it's out of place, please be free to move it to an appropriate section.
One thing I noted in all guides regarding what weapons are good or not, they usually don't take into consideration the difficulty level. The shotgun for example is indeed a not very recommended weapon for an engineer, because the class is for debufing the battlefield by weakining the opponents, not fighting them upclose or charging the enemy. Except at hardcore and insanity levels.
Like the combat guide mentions, enemies stack with the player level and have immunities. This cause a side-effect that even if the player don't want to fight up-close, he will do so anyway. Because most enemies have defenses they tend to get close to the player a lot of time, so actually a shotgun as bonus talent is rather indicated and not the contrary. - These guides are more for generalized advice rather than specifics. Specifics go onto the individual weapon/power/talent pages themselves. However, the guides should separate, like those aforementioned pages, into difficulty level when appropriate. If shotguns are good on those levels, its been a long time since I did ME with an engineer, then mention it.
- I should also add that when reviewing the history, most of what is here currently, with some wording changes, is pretty much what I wrote back in Summer of 2010, almost 3 years now, when I had played an ME engineer walkthrough to overhaul this guide, and all of the class guides for ME and ME2.
