Legitimate Information[]

So I received a bunch of emails today regarding information about the Mass Effect movie. They all said basically the same thing: It will be about male Shepard, played by to be announced, Joker will make an appearance, although he won't be played by Seth Green, and the story won't be about the first game. What I was wondering is, how can we tell if this is legitimate information that can go into the article or just a rumor that's been blown way out of proportion? This really isn't the place for this question, Talk:Mass Effect (film) would be more appropriate, but either way, all information that is sourced is in the Mass Effect (film) article. There really isn't much else to say apart from that. Lancer1289 22:31, September 21, 2011 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) The info (which we've recently added to Mass Effect (film)) is from a blog post on Legendary Pictures' site. Legendary Pictures is the company producing the film. On top of that, the official ME3 site has a small news post verifying those details. -- Commdor (Talk) 22:32, September 21, 2011 (UTC)

Red Sand Fan Film?[]

Shouldn't the Red Sand Fan Film be added to the list as well? It stars Mark Meer as John Grissom and the link for it can be found on the Mass Effect Series' wikipedia page (and before we jump the gun, I know that WIKIPEDIA isn't a legitimate source, but the section on the page that talks about the movie is sourced.--J Shepard 12:17, March 21, 2012 (UTC)

No becuase as you pointed out, it is a fan film. Fan films, or any fan generated material, has no place in articles. Lancer1289 14:33, March 21, 2012 (UTC)

Time for a rename?[]

Now that a TV show is officially "in development" (https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/mass-effect-tv-series-amazon-writer-marvel-1236203755/), maybe it's time for this page to be a little more inclusive and serve as an indexer for the film/tv side until we learn enough for a separate article/s? The new project is obviously not a film, so maybe something a bit more cumbersome like "Films and TV Shows" (alternate suggestions welcome)?

Why not separate pages right away? Because they're substantially empty at this point and it would be better to have one slightly more informative page than two empty pages? We can always create the necessary pages later when they have more content.

Personally though, still seems like a moot point. It has been crickets in this side of the franchise for so long that maybe this ends up being another nothingburger years later. Would like to be wrong there though. Eldar ears (talk) 23:46, 9 November 2024 (UTC)

I would say most likely we could rename this page to "Film & TV" and have subsections for each, and if it seemed prudent to have them be separate pages down the line that could always be done. Neo89515 (talk) 04:17, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
Sounds fine to me. When the TV show airs (or we otherwise get a bunch more material on it), it will obviously end up wanting its own page (linked from here), but for now the above seems like a good idea to me. Cattlesquat (talk) 21:22, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
I can get behind any naming convention as long as it will be accurate to upcoming content (about film and TV, not just film). If there are no objections, I may visit again next week and rename this page to "Film & TV" (or whatever emerges more preferred). Don't forget to update MediaWiki:Wiki-navigation afterward though - you green guys have the access there. Eldar ears (talk) 03:51, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
Good to know we're useful for something. Neo89515 (talk) 05:31, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
