I find it far more likely that the system was named for Virgil "Gus" Grissom, the second American into space and one of the first American astronauts to be killed in the line of duty (Apollo 1). Two of the other systems in the Armstrong Cluster are named for pioneering cosmonauts (Yuri Gagarin and Valentina Tereshkova) and the cluster itself is named for Neil Armstrong.



I'm not sure what to think of this system myself. The star Grissom is a blue giant, which is so bright and hot that it's literally cooking all the planets orbiting it. Two are losing their atmospheres and the third, and its moons, still have lethal levels of radiation and heat. Given that it's named after an astronaut who quite literally died in a fire...
