"They are notable in that their limbs can be targeted and blown off." Is this accurate? My understanding is that ME2 includes location specific damage (targeting heads/limbs) as a universal mechanism, so it would hardly be notable that you can target and disable specific limbs of the LOKI mech.--Ocdscale 20:27, December 6, 2009 (UTC)

Gameplay Vids[]

Well, no offense guy but your wrong. If you've seen gameplay footage, you can cleary see that their body parts can be shot off.--Matt xMan 23:32, December 6, 2009 (UTC)

Whoa! Ocd is wrong? Why is that, exactly? Maybe you need to re-read the post, Matt. Ocdscale NEVER stated that the LOKI mechs can't have limbs shot off, just that maybe it's not that notable, since some of the material released seems to suggest that this can be done with other enemies as well. Please, in the future, actually read the posts thoroughly before making statements such as "your (sic) wrong". That's unnecessary, inflammatory, and seeing as this is an opinion issue (notability of a topic) rather than a fact based issue (whether it happens or not) it's not something you can make a call like that on. Thanks, SpartHawg948 23:42, December 6, 2009 (UTC)

My Opinion[]

Thanks Spart for correcting me, again, but here's what I have to say: does it really matter? I shouldn't even matter in my opinion. Like the rest of us, I've seen the gameplay and I've seen that their bodies can come off. My opinion, and yes I'm putting this on the talk page, their the only adversaries that body parts can be blown off. I think that the humans can be targeted too, but not blown off. Mabey they'll drag an blood might come out, unless head was targeted. Mabey the geth as well may have parts that blown but we'll have to wait for that. --Matt xMan 00:07, December 7, 2009 (UTC)

No problem Matt! Happy to help, again (I can do bold words too!) :) In the future though, please do read the other opinions fully, and maybe word your responses to seem less confrontational, as that can come across as rude or insulting, and rude/insulting language towards other users is of course something that can get you blocked. Also, all of this could have stayed in one thread, but instead you started two others. In the future, keeping things that share a common topic in the same thread would be greatly appreciated, as it helps to cut down on clutter, especially when talk pages start getting longer. Thanks again (did it again!), SpartHawg948 00:54, December 7, 2009 (UTC)

LOKI named after Loki...[]

I don't personally think that the name Loki needs to be specified when it's already in the sentance. --Effectofthemassvariety 07:04, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

Is there that much of a problem with it? I don't see why it shouldn't be mentioned. The sentence sounds better in my head this way. NiRv4n4 07:06, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

(edit conflictActually it is in the YMIR and FERNIS articles, so consistencey is good here. Lancer1289 07:07, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
I too think it's silly redundancy, but that's just me. As for Fenris, I believe it's in that article because Fenris isn't the commonly used name, I believe it's actually Fenrir or something like that. In that case, I see no need for redundancy in the Ymir and Loki articles, but if this approach is better received, so be it! SpartHawg948 07:08, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
Ok here is my two cents, I really don't care I was just pointing out that it is also in the other two article so I really don't care. So that is 2-1-1 on the vote count. If it is removed I really don't care. Lancer1289 07:11, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

I know, and again, I'm happy with it the way it is if the community is happy, I was just pointing out why it's in the FENRIS article- i.e. because Fenris isn't the name normally used for the mythological creature the mechs appear to be named after. SpartHawg948 07:12, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

(edit conflict) I just felt that it was kind of obvious, and redundant. I don't care either way, really. --Effectofthemassvariety 07:14, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
The vote is 2 (for removal), 1 (for keep), and 1 (abstaining) i.e. me becauase I don't care either way. Just wanted to make that clear. Lancer1289 07:15, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
(edit freaking conflict) "Some believe that the EFFECTOFTHEMASSVARIETY Mech is named after Effectofthemassvariety. See? Kind of silly. But then again, maybe that's just my name that's silly. :P --Effectofthemassvariety 07:18, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
Actually make that 3 (for removal) to 1 (keep). That just pushed it, I really needed that Effect. Thanks. So fell free to remove it if you wish. If you do then remove it from the YMIR article as well. Lancer1289 07:20, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
Haha, I'm always here to help! :P --Effectofthemassvariety 07:25, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
Just make sure you get them both. I left it up to you because you brought it up, and you should finish it. Lancer1289 07:26, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, sorry. It seems I couldn't even do that one thing right. I'll get it right next time. --Effectofthemassvariety 07:41, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

Need a new image[]

I just got my copy of ME2 today, and I was killing LOKI mechs off the bat. But I didn't know this. I thought they were some sort of security bot, not a LOKI. The reason is because when i read about the LOKI, the focus on the image was not on the LOKI Mechs, which I mistook for some form of soldier, but on the YMIR mech (Which i Figured was a LOKI mech, and while I noticed the similarity to YMIR mechs, i figured it was probably just a lighter model.) My point is thus; I know theres alot of screenshots we need, but LOKI mecha are all over the place, and if we could get an image of them thats less misleading, I think it could be helpful. --FoxtrotZero 02:44, June 8, 2010 (UTC)

I replaced the image in the infobox to a more accurate one. We still need more pictures of Mechs, though. --silverstrike 03:20, June 8, 2010 (UTC)

Human-made LOKI mechs in 1896 CE?[]

When I read the "Artificial Intelligence" article and saw the LOKI mechs in the picture within the "Mass Effect 3: Citadel" section regarding the end of the Geth War, there is something not quite right about that picture. LOKI mechs are manufactured by Hahne-Kedar, which is a human company, and humans in 1896 CE haven't achieved spaceflight at that time. Let alone that humans haven't made first contact with any alien races and weren't introduced to the galactic stage until 2157 CE.

So why there were human-made LOKI mechs on the Citadel in 1896 CE in the first place? Should this error be worth noting in the "LOKI Mech's" trivia? Razer666L (talk) 06:54, March 26, 2013 (UTC)

no for a gaggle of reasons.

Updating page[]

I plan to update this page to be in line with the way other enemies pages are formatting, i.e. with a "Capabilities" section and a "Tactics" section; this should also allow the notes to be reduced in size considerably and be made more readable. Ale89515 (talk) 16:51, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

I have to wonder, where is all the information in the "Overview" section even coming from? What is the source? There's a Codex entry for "Security Mechs" but the rest? Was someone getting a little too creative by paraphrasing and embellishing the Codex entry? As stated above I plan to take a hacksaw to this page to bring it down to size and in-line with other Enemy pages, but maybe if a lot of this material is deemed worth saving the page should be bifurcated into two. I personally don't favor this, only raising the idea. Ale89515 (talk) 03:31, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

apparently amalgamated from in-game observations, the few relevant bits in the codex, and indeed some embellishing. can't find much else on the books and comics regarding lokis specifically except for the one thing i added over 6 years ago.
the bulk of the issue can be traced to a 6kb edit over a decade ago. most of that can be compartmentalized to standard enemy page formatting, though there's still a lot of repetition and inferred capabilities (that aren't otherwise stated or seen) that can be excised. Overheat Behavior Likely Bugged[]

I have noticed that while LOKIs are vulnerable to overheat effects, it's often imperfect - they are often able to fire off a volley even before the overheat effect should wear off, usually before performing a reload animation. I tend towards believing this is a bug. Ale89515 (talk) 18:41, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
