Split[]

Since this walkthough is much longer than anyother one, and just about as long as the ME plot worlds Virmire, Feros, and Noveria, I was thinking of splitting this article into two. Lair of the Shadow Broker (mission), keeing the Illium information here, and Lair of the Shadow Broker (mission): Hagalaz. I really have no strong preference either way, but I'd like to get some opinions on this one. I had to split the ME plot worlds because they were huge and again just about as long as this one. Lancer1289 18:24, September 7, 2010 (UTC)

So it's long, requiring much scrolling. Other than that, why split it (serious question)? (Nice work getting it up so fast, by the way) AnotherRho 20:57, September 7, 2010 (UTC)
I think it's fine as is. -- Commdor (Talk) 20:59, September 7, 2010 (UTC)
Well thanks for the complement about getting it up, it was a lot of typing, and my fingers almost killed me. However I tried to make it a user friendly as possible. Oh well, this is sometimes why I liked ME, the entry changed. Lancer1289 21:18, September 7, 2010 (UTC)

Upgrades[]

Can someone post all the upgrades in this DLC.(there are more then 2 upgrades) And for those who are interested, you can change the system time(windows time) to get the reports immediately from the investment console.

Acutally there are only two upgrades in the mission itself. The upgrades you get from the deliveries after the completion of this mission are listed on the Shadow Broker Base page. Lancer1289 16:37, September 8, 2010 (UTC)
 Thanks for the info.
No problem. Lancer1289 20:19, September 8, 2010 (UTC)

I discover something new. After defeting the SB and having access to the ship I went in a mission (Saving Crashing Ship). When I returned to the SB ship I encounter another upgrade, for the SMG, wich gave me 60% more damage. I didn't have more missions to do after, so I don't know if there are more, but I started a playthrough a few days ago and I'm now on Illium. I'll do LoTSB and confirm if there are others, but it seems there are more upgrades on the ship. Also, every time you do a mission and return there are new investments assignments to buy (and earn money) and new minerals on the terminal. Brfritos 08:48, September 9, 2010 (UTC)

Is it the SMG damage upgrade where the description says it's from Batarian State Arms, and they released it as thanks for helping take care of some stuff w/ the Citadel? If so, yeah, I got that one as well. SpartHawg948 08:55, September 9, 2010 (UTC)
Actually every weapon remaining receives an upgrade! 8O I completed several missions and after everyone there's another available, so we gain for the shotgun, sniper rifle and SMG. Now I wish that Bioware raises the XP level between missions, we are becoming too powerfull even before reaching level 20! The Collector Ship, one of the most challenging missions - IMHO of course - becomes a cakewalk with the shield, weapons and cybernetics upgrade (if you did Overlord before going to Horizon, that's it). But on the other hand I realize that this gives the player more freedom for doing pre-Collector Ship missions, since if you are a Vanguard, for example, you HAVE to go to Tuchanka and do Grunts mission to gain the shotgun upgrade. Now at least I have a choice not to doing it and still beign able to get it. Brfritos 05:10, September 10, 2010 (UTC)

Credits?[]

The Cerberus Funding on the PC that I got differs from what is stated on this wiki page. I got MORE. 45K. So in total I earned 99K. If this is a bug, I don't want it fixed. :] I must note that although I finished Liara's terminal hack quest, I couldn't even start the observer one - when I tried saying goodbye, the shadow broker mission got started automatically. Maybe this is my reward for the missed credits. :] Parochy (talk) 14:59, August 28, 2012 (UTC)

Are there really 78.000 Credtis? I played through the DLC twice and only got 58.500 Credtis. Thit is the amount of Credits that was there for a long time. So it looks like a lot of players got 58.500 Credits. I don't want to exclude the possibility that there ARE 78.000 Credits, but where are they? Is there any difference between Paragon and Renegade?

213.240.180.240 18:16, September 8, 2010 (UTC)
Actually I'm the one who wrote the origial walkthough and since I don't know if I missed anything, the first credit count was lower than 58,500, the 78,000 stands for now. When I get a chance to play it again, I'll check the numbers, but those extra credits might be from the deliveries and Investments, but if that is the case, then I'll put it back to the number I get. Credits from those don't belong here. This is a walkthough of that mission, and said mission ends withe the Mission Summary page. Lancer1289 18:51, September 8, 2010 (UTC)
I have just finished this mission (in hardcore) and at the debriefing it said I found 66,000 credit. So it must be more than 58,000 23:36, September 29, 2010 (CET)FarkasLory

I got way less also. In fact, I only got 36,000 from the Cerberus pay out (even though it says 45,000) because I checked my money just before & after the final boss. 68.0.77.66 10:24, September 9, 2010 (UTC)zqrahll

Pretty much every time I've done it I've gotten quite a bit more than 78,000. I'd have to go back and check, but pretty sure I usually get about 90k. SpartHawg948 10:34, September 9, 2010 (UTC)
Oh, nvm. You're talking 78k found. The comment immediately above my last one had me confused, made me think you meant 78k total. Yeah, 78k found sounds about right, and I've never had an issue with getting a full 45k from Cerberus. SpartHawg948 10:36, September 9, 2010 (UTC)
The guy also said that he checked his credit count. For my part, I've played once, and the Summary page said I found around 58k credits; also I don't check before and after credit counts. AnotherRho 18:03, September 9, 2010 (UTC)
I acquired 67,500, not including investments or deliveries see here Ilovetelephones 17:11, September 10, 2010 (UTC)
What? How?! I double (and sometimes triple) checked all areas for pick ups, got credits for all medi-gels and power cells since I didn't use any heavy weapon ammo or revived any squad mates during the mission and only got 58.500 as others above have. The only time I didn't check was during the 2 boss fights (but there weren't any credits to pick up during those, were there?). Playing PC on Insanity btw.
Same for me, I played it 3 times and checked every possible corner including the boss areas and only got 58,500. I think possibly if your Shepard is imported from a ME2 completion you get more credits. I am guessing most people who are getting 58,500 are using a Shepard imported from ME1.CptMarg 16:57, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
For further comments, please see lower on the page at the Credits Part two section as the Mission Summary Screen appears to be bugged. Lancer1289 16:59, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
I got 63K + 45K credits fo the mission, and I eneded up 108k richer (checking status screen) after the mission. PC on Insanity. The noted about it being bugged, and capped at 90k is wrong - at the very least, it is not as simple as that. 82.9.106.192 23:48, September 14, 2010 (UTC)Yx
The mission Summary Screen is bugged as it displays incorrect information. We've had reports of 58,500, 67,500, and 78,000, none of which panned out. This is the first I've heard of 63k being reported but checking the mission summary screen, which has been confirmed bugged, isn't valid enough. Many people have reported the bug, and one person saying it isn't, based on the confirmed bugged mission summary screen, doens't justify it. There are 54k in credtis found, and there is supposed to be 45 in Cerberus funding, however only 90k is all that is recieved. Lancer1289 23:55, September 14, 2010 (UTC)
I'm not suggesting that a single report is going to be sufficient evidence for you, but it certainly needs further investigation. The conclusions drawn from other people are limited by their perspective, and are evidently wrong in this case. I am also not suggesting that there is no bug; only that the nature of teh bug is not as described. As I said before, I received 108k, confirmed by my *status* screen, not the mission screen. I had 8k going in to the last fight, I had 116k immediately after. It is not as simple as "90k is all that is received", at last not in all cases - there is more to it than this. 82.9.106.192 20:37, September 15, 2010 (UTC)Yx
I don´t really know how this works, actually I just finished the mission for the first time and got 109500 credits; 45k from Cerberus Funding, and 64.5k from Credits Found. --Chuchui666 (talk) 07:35, September 27, 2012 (UTC)Chuchui666

Levelling Bug?[]

One of my Shepards gained a level while on the outside of the Shadow Broker ship and, while he gained the talent point for it, none of the squadmates did. Finished the mission and there's a point missing for every squadmate. Has this happened to anyone else? Playing on Hardcore at level 26 as an Infiltrator, by the way. PumbaaSmith 19:04, September 8, 2010 (UTC)

After level 20, I think, Shep. gets 1 point per level, but the team only gets 1 point per two levels. If you expected that, then disregard. That being said, I played while already at level 30; however, I can confirm that Liara started with one less point than everyone else (2 less than Jacob and Miranda). (Also Hardcore Infiltrator) AnotherRho 18:06, September 9, 2010 (UTC)
Actually, I expected that. Don't remember the math, but compared Grunt's amount of talent points, and one was lacking. Did the Broker's ship mission again and got the talent point, so no harm done, in the end. It may be a good idea to keep an eye on your teammates' talent points if you level mid-mission, though. PumbaaSmith 21:14, September 10, 2010 (UTC)

Blasto![]

Illium Skyway Chase Egg

Blasto (or a similarly legendary hanar) prepares to enkindle some enemies.

Well, I think it's pretty obvious that this guy is meant to be Blasto anyway, but they never say his name. All the fan-service in this DLC is quite excellent. Wasn't sure whether to add it to the article or not, so I've added it here. -- Dammej (talk) 23:08, September 8, 2010 (UTC)

The fan-service was truly phenomenal :) I had to stop the game a few times due to laughing at references to the Mako, omni-gel and Jilani being owned by a krogan. If this is the class of game that's the new standard for future DLC and ME3, it's going to be one amazingly awesome game. Bronzey 12:39, September 9, 2010 (UTC)
What was said about the Mako? I must've missed it.JakePT 12:45, September 9, 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict)Indeed there was a lot in this pack that BioWare addressed, usually in very humorous ways. My favorites are probably Jilani getting hit by someone other than Shepard, Blasto's thing, I must have missed the Mako stuff or I wasn't paying attention, and that Omni-gel thing. That was a great way in ME to get containers open if you failed the first time around. My favorite piece of dialogue however was probably what I couldn't resist putting in the walkthough, "It's a taxi, it has a fare meter". Lancer1289 12:49, September 9, 2010 (UTC)

OMFG!!! One gun at each leg/tentacle? I think the image should be added (WITH the caption). About Jilani that made me lough my ass out. After all it what she deserves. If the vid would show Shepard punch her that would be a million times better. SoulRipper 15:19, September 9, 2010 (UTC)

Um except that we don't have definite confirmation that is Blasto. While I'm pretty sure it is, if we had the confirmation, then it would be another story. We already have one image for the sky chase and adding another at this point will just clog the article. Lancer1289 15:53, September 9, 2010 (UTC)
I meant the image for Blasto not for the sky chase. This hanar cant be other than Blasto. The image matches exactly with the discription of Blasto. After all, this whole data part of the DLC was just to clear some things up (like Liara and M. Aethyta and Legion's username :P ). SoulRipper 17:34, September 9, 2010 (UTC)

I must of missed the references about the Mako... I caught the Omni-Gel one, but where was the Mako? Tanooki1432 20:53, September 10, 2010 (UTC)

Just to answer the Mako thing for you if you haven't found out already Liara says "At least its better then the Mako" during the car chase scene some point after Tela starts dropping the mines, not sure if it was coincidence but she happened to say it when I was shook rather violently by a blast from a mine and Shepard commented on how shaky the ride was. NightsKnight 00:46, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

Pre-requisites[]

In the information it says that the only pre-requisite is having the DLC. If you create a new character and do not normally have access to Illium (because you have not gone far enough in the storyline), do you need to wait until you do get access to Illium? Also are Liara's hacking side missions that are included without the DLC also a pre-requisite for this?

Yep, you need to have access to Illium. Not sure if you have to do Liara's hacking assignments first, but I'd assume so because Shepard only learns about Liara's interest in the Shadow Broker through those assignments. -- Commdor (Talk) 00:38, September 9, 2010 (UTC)
I'm playing a new imported game and can confirm this, you have to do the first Liara hacking mission, then when she talk about the Shadow Broker you can tell her about the info and start the mission if you wish (the dialog about Shepard's body and the Commander's reply is quite different. And better, IMHO). I don't finished the playthrough yet - I'm hungry LOL - but the second part of Liara hacking mission is skipped. Also there is no fight betweeen Nyxeris and Liara, she simply leaves the room. I'm in the Azure Hotel part of the DLC, so I can't confirm if she will appear latelly or simply vanished. Air car controls[]

Currently the listed air car controls are only applicable to XBox 360 users and will be confusing to PC user

Added PC controls. AnotherRho 18:12, September 9, 2010 (UTC)

Added the mouse, the strafing keys A and D don't really help at all since they steer only a little in one direction. First time I tried it with A and D I exploded right at a pillar when flying through the construction site (I also found out that turbo wasn't working since I bound it to (E) and the tool tip wasn't reflecting that, still showing (Spacebar) ). The second time using the mouse for steering I was able to turbo boost through the whole chase without any problems.
Good call on mentioning the mouse. Yes, it's a bug throughout ME2, that the tooltips only reference the default keys, not the keys you have remapped. (also, don't forget to add your sig) --AnotherRho 22:24, September 16, 2010 (UTC)

Since you mentioned the reference to the default keys, tooltips for the Hammerhead were total gibberish, and I didn't remap anything. Prismvg 22:46, September 16, 2010 (UTC)

I figured I should jsut say this, but since I was playing on a 360, don't have the money yet for the PC version of the pack, I do ave it however, but since it was something new, I figured I should list the controls. We have so many great PC players here, I knew that someone would have added the PC controls before long. Lancer1289 23:25, September 16, 2010 (UTC)

Fight Vasir section[]

There is a third interrupt with Liara, where Shepard can ask "about us" (if there was an "us"). I missed the second, but after reading the walkthrough, I assume it is as said there. AnotherRho 18:18, September 9, 2010 (UTC)

Acutally I don't know about that. I had the two because they are standard, but the profile I played it on for the walkthough didn't have a relationship with Liara from the first game. Lancer1289 18:22, September 9, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, you can interrupt her and speak to this effect (not exact quotes): -Shep: "Liara, we'll be jumping light years away; we have time to talk!" - L: "Talk about what?" - S: choice of either "Our relationship? [i.e., "about us" as Shep says]", or, "I'm worried about you" [so I recall the second choice, anyway]. AnotherRho 21:58, September 9, 2010 (UTC)
Yup. I can confirm that interrupt, and those options, though obviously the "Our relationship" option only appears if there's a relationship to begin with. IIRC, if there's no relationship, there's no conversation choice, since there would only be one option, but you do still get the third interrupt. SpartHawg948 22:00, September 9, 2010 (UTC)

Liara's apartment[]

In the walkthrough for the APT, these two entries are of course included:
1. Picture: On the upper level is a photo album that changes from the SSV Normandy to a Prothean dig site. Tela comes up and Shepard mentions that Liara did leave a message.

2. Degree Certificate: Apparently, Liara got a doctorate from the University of Serrice on Thessia. Tela mentions that she’s getting her worth out of that degree.

  1. (less important), on my first (so far only) playthrough, the photo didn't change (obviously something screwed up). Just wanted to note that here.
  2. it seemed to me that Tela was being sarcastic, as though to say that one doesn't need a doctorate from U of Serrice (or from anywhere) to be an information broker and seek revenge on someone. Any thoughts? AnotherRho 22:04, September 9, 2010 (UTC)

Hostage Negotiations[]

I had a full renegade bar (Insanity - soldier level 30) and was still unable to select the option, I had the shock trooper specialization so I only got +70% to the bar but it was full with that percentage, now going back with Commando (+100%), will post my findings, but for now it seems that the requirements go beyond a full bar if your level 30(into higher numbers that do not get represented for us), possibly due to insanity. EDIT: I posted this before logging in Ilovetelephones 11:41, September 10, 2010 (UTC)

With the Commando bonus I was able to use the dialogue =), still, I'd have thought full bar meant everything = /, probably worth noteing. Ilovetelephones 12:22, September 10, 2010 (UTC)
I encountered the same problem with one of my two renegade characters. The both of them had the +70% morality bonus evolution of their passive talent and (what at least looked like) a full renegade bar. It didn't bother me much though as either way I would have chosen for one of them to wound the hostage for a slightly different and more bad ass save. Shefel 12:36, September 10, 2010 (UTC)
Aye, the non-special renegade option seems more badass XD, still the inability to select it puzzled me, what difficulty settings and level were you? as I know at the very least the latter is supposed to effect the persuasion-checks. Ilovetelephones 17:14, September 10, 2010 (UTC)
Both were played at Normal difficulty and level 30, and of course it was indeed a bit annoying. I was lucky though that the appropriate Shepard was unable to resolve the situation in another way than wounding the hostage (without acting paragonish ofc). Shefel 19:46, September 10, 2010 (UTC)
I'm gonna put a note about it in the mission then Ilovetelephones 07:58, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
If you are not lvl 30, I don't think you need full morality to unlock paragon/renegade options. My lvl 19 Shepard just completed LOTSB and I was able to use the paragon option for the hostage with only about half my morality bar.

None of this surprises me at all. I was always unable to choose the final Paragon check in Samara's Loyalty Mission (just before Samara actually shows up). At the time, I didn't have Dominate available, and I was wanting to have access to it to complete my list of bonus powers. I was running around with a Surgeon (Widow Soldier), and was using Commando, and I was never able to pass the check. On a whim, I re-specced and took Shock Trooper instead for the duration of the mission, and had no problems choosing between Samara and Morinth. That means that the choices when confronting Vasir simply require an unusually high Paragon or Renegade level, just like the final Paragon/Renegade check in Samara's Loyalty Mission (or the not-lesbian catfight between Jack and Miranda after both of their loyalty missions have been completed :P). It's not unique at all. Swk3000 16:35, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

To choose the Paragon Charm option, "I'll shoot if I have to.", you need to have an import or genesis character that both saved the Rachni Queen on Noveria and the Council in the battle for the Citadel in ME1.

Credits Found Part 2[]

Ok since we apparently can't agree on what the Credits Found part of this mission, we need to find it out. Personally when I wrote it I found 58,500, and a few other numbers have popped up, 78,000 and 67,500. We need to figure this out so please list the amount of credits you found. On all three current playthroughs I found 58,500. So let's figure this out. I'll add some embedded text about this until this can be figured out. This credit number should only apply to what is visually scene in the Mission Summary Screen, as that is the precedent we have. Any additional credits gained from the deliveries from the Shadow Broker Base are not to be listed here. If there is a discrepancy in where you have more credits than listed in the mission summary screen, then please mention that too. Thanks. Lancer1289 16:14, September 10, 2010 (UTC)

I've found 58,500 credits too, I don't know where this 78,000 and 67,500 comes from. I started LotSB with roughly 72.000 and ended with 175.000, hence the 103.500 credits total (45.000 from Cerberus and 58.500 found on the mission). I believe the confusion about credits - and levelling, for that matter - comes from the fact that the game works now like a real mission and not in the episodic way that was ME2 main game. We will not see warnings about levelling up or other things. For example, I ended the mission gaining 3 squad points, but the game don't warn me about this in the middle of the fight. For those asking I prefer this way, the mission flows much more fluid without every time a "mission summary" beign displayed. Brfritos 17:44, September 10, 2010 (UTC)

I actually found 67,500 my first time, but not sure how much my second time. I didn't check it that time.--Xaero Dumort 18:27, September 10, 2010 (UTC)

No idea why there is a part 2 for this discussion, if you look at my picture post link on part 1 its clear that 67,500 credits can be found at least. Ilovetelephones 07:53, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
And if you had looked at the time stamp for my first comment in this section, you would have seen that it was posted almost an hour before yours in the first section with the picture. Lancer1289 07:55, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
I figured it should be noticed in this section too in case someone didn't check part 1, and in the hopes that if there are more credits to be found someone else will screenshot it, although I checked every room throughout the mission. Ilovetelephones 08:13, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
Got 58.500 (PC on Insanity).

I found out this is a bug. I finished the encounter with shadow broker, and the summary said 58500 Found, 45000 Funding. Then I reloaded a quick save that was at the door right before shadow broker, killed him again, then the summary said 78000 found and 45000 funded. So clearly it's a bug. I started out the mission with about 7k credits, had little since I bought everything in the game. And ended up with 97k credits. So i clearly didn't get 121.500 or 103.500 as the summary claimed. When i took away the credits that i got from salvaging medigel and cells, i end up with about 45 k found and funding. So the mission only gives 90.000 credits. I didn't add all the credits i picked up together, but i followed the guide on the article, and ended up 90 k richer. This is a bug. Hope this helps. :) Daedalus92 13:38 September 11, 2010 (UTC)

Just so reply to this, I have also confirmed it is a bug on the 360 as well. I ran through the whole DLC four times today, and did the save/load thing before the Broker fight, and each time the Credits Found was different, first 58,500, then 67,500, then 78,000, then back to 67,500. By checking my credits before the fight I found the actual amount of credits found is 54,000, and I made sure to check everywhere for credits. As a result you only get 36,500 from Cerberus, for a grand total of 90,500 credits. Well at least that was the case on four of my playthroughs of the DLC pack today. Can anyone else confirm this because I really don't want to change it without a few more confirmations. Just to note that my after totals were always the same, 90,500 credits richer. Lancer1289 02:16, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
Maybe check your credit count before the mission, and then run through the mission without picking up any credits, salvage, etc., and check again after it's all over, to verify the amount of funding (by itself). --AnotherRho 21:19, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
I'll try that now. We have three people sayint he same thing, about 90,000 credits but I'll nevertheless run through it again for consistency. If I get something weird, then I'll post it. Lancer1289 21:26, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
Just checked my credits before/after mission, and am certain that the numbers reflect the amount going into the mission and that upon finishing it (before snooping around Liara's new lair). The total credits I received were 91,100 (however, some of them may have been medi-gel or power-cel salvage: unsure of specifics). PC version, Hardcore. I recall the mission summary alleging about 58k or so found. AnotherRho 21:58, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
Just finished with the rerun, and it was tempting to grab credits but I didn't even pickup power cells and medi-gel. I got the full 45,000 in Cerberus Funding. I also ran it a second time, grabbing all the credits, but not any medi-gel or power cells, and I got 90,000 credits exactly, 54,000 from credits found, and the rest from the funding. I checked before the Broker fight and had an extra 54,000, then it went to 90,000 at the end, despite the Summary Screen saying I found 67,500 Credits and had 45,000 in Cerberus Funding. Therefore with three other confirmations, I'm going to be changing the summary to reflect this with 54,000 Credits Found, 36,000 in Cerberus Funding, with a total of 90,000. I'll also add embedded text directing people here to prevent chaning it and a note saying that the mission summary screen is bugged. I hope that BioWare does fix this as it was a good DLC pack until this came up. Lancer1289 01:03, September 13, 2010 (UTC)
Nice work Lancer, way to resist that temptation. ;) It's especially weird that the "Credits Found" report is buggy, since that count (big surprise) takes into account any mistakes on a bypass or hack (e.g., depleting funds from a find), or what have you. - But Lancer: when you said, "... I got the full 45,000 in Cerberus Funding," did you mean it reported 45k funded by Cerb. AND you actually received 45k? or just the report? From everything else, I assume you mean it merely claimed 45k was given. --AnotherRho 02:33, September 13, 2010 (UTC)
Yes that is exactly the case. After the walkthrough the report said Credits Found: 0 Cerberus Funding: 45000, and lo and behold I was 45,000 credits richer. On the playthoughs, I checked, if you collect less than 45,000 credits, not counting Medi-gel and Power Cells, you only get that + the 45,000 from Cerberus. If you collect over 45,000 credits, not counting Medi-gel and Power Cells, you get the Credits Found + Cerberus Funding up to 90,000 Credits, and then the Medi-gel and Power Cells are added to that. Talk about a big bug, the credits are messed up, and you don't get the full Cerberus Funding like it claims. I really do hope that someone form BioWare can shed some light on this and fix it. I explained this in the trivia and put embedded text in the article to direct people here. I know there is 54,000 credits found, so I added that and modded the Cerberus Funding appropriately. I'm curious has anyone brought this up on the BioWare forums yet? I know they check here, as we've seen in the past, but it might get more attention if it goes there as well. Lancer1289 02:42, September 13, 2010 (UTC)
Good question about the forums; if I notice, I'll mention it here. Also, read your trivia section which explains as you said; however, I don't quite understand the meaning of the last sentence of the trivia. You seem to mean that the medi-gel, power-cell money is not counted in the mission summary, unless you would otherwise have received less than 90k, in which case that salvage will be counted (as it normally is, by 100s)...? AnotherRho 02:53, September 13, 2010 (UTC)
Nice catch, that was worded a little confusingly wasn't it. I have since reworded it a bit and added an example to illustrate how the Credits from Medi-gel and Power Cells are added to the totals. I really do hope this gets fixed, and if you do find a forum thread, then let us know. Lancer1289 03:05, September 13, 2010 (UTC)
Nice. - Found a single mention of the problem on the BW social forums, and the poor bloke had only found this wiki discussing the problem! But it's a new thread, so maybe it'll get a hearing. The poster appears to have done and discovered just what the players here did/found. Here's the link: LotSB Credits (mission summary) at BW social forums --AnotherRho 03:40, September 13, 2010 (UTC)
New indeed. I guess people come here first to see if there is a problem, then they probably go and post there. Anyway we'll keep this here, where everything is worked out, and maybe that post will get some attention from the devs, and fixed hopefully becuase this is my one problem with this DLC pack. We know the devs come here, so maybe this has already gotten some attention. Fingers crossed on that one. Lancer1289 03:47, September 13, 2010 (UTC)
Yes. But does BW make patches to correct things like spelling and credit calculation errors (only played ME games)? AnotherRho 03:50, September 13, 2010 (UTC)
Usually they do, there are a few small things in ME, like spelling that aren't fixed, see the journal entry for UNC: The Negotiation, but for ME2 they are pretty good at spotting things fans have encountered and fixing them. Lancer1289 03:53, September 13, 2010 (UTC)
Well, Packages for Ish still isn't fixed, you can't get it out of your journal if you choose charm path. :/ 85.166.168.242 13:11, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

BioWare poking fun at themselves[]

Don't know where to put this, but during the part when you're defending the door Shepard might say "Remember the time when you could just slap some omni-gel on a lock?" (or something like that) and Liara responds "A lot of people weren't happy about that security upgrade." (or something like that). Seems like BioWare is poking some fun at themselves and the playerbase. Tanooki1432 20:52, September 10, 2010 (UTC)

Yes I really miss that feature. Currently I'm on an ME run and Omni-gel is a great resource if you miss the decryption the first time around. I can somewhat see the reason for removing it, but still, it was a great backup if you messed up. Lancer1289 20:58, September 10, 2010 (UTC)
I agree that it was a good alternative but it always woried me (and still does) how the hell does some gel hacks, cracks, decrypts (whatever) a door, a computer or even a VI Core (Noveria). Sci-Fi gonna drive me crazy one day :P SoulRipper 21:12, September 10, 2010 (UTC)

Ship Model Message[]

I was just wondering if anyone else has encountered this bug. I've been visiting the Shadow Broker Base/Ship periodically and I always receive a message at the beginning about acquiring the Shadow Broker Ship model. I know that I've already received the ship since it's on my desk on the Normandy but every time I visit the ship, the message pops up again. Is this happening to anyone else? Freakium 02:56, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, it happens every time I go back. You're not alone when it comes to encountering this. Lancer1289 02:58, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
Yup. Happens to me too. SpartHawg948 03:08, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
Whew, good to know my copy isn't bugged... Hope they patch this up but it's not that big a deal. I'm more concerned about the crashes I experience right after Tela says she's a Spectre. The only way I can go through that without a crash is to skip several times. Freakium 05:01, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
Never had that second one however. Tela's conversations go fine every time I've played it. Lancer1289 05:08, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
I've got the ship model bug, and I got the Vesir crash as well (more of a freeze really) the first time I played it, but not since.JakePT 07:00, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

A lot of varying Dialogue=cool[]

A lot of dialogue varies depending on your Shepard (same choices on wheel). First is the Shadow Broker commenting on each squadmate (he even talked about Kasumi and how that graybox she has is invalable; I wonder what he says if Shep destroyed the graybox), the state of the Collectors (still hand Shep to them, salvage base w/ Reaper IFF, or steal from Cerberus), Shep's Paragon persuasion to the Spectre changes dealing with how the Rachni and Council were handled, how the Spectre greets Shep depending if Spectre status was reinstated or not, and Liara's (hilarious) comments if you cheated on her.

But when you invite Liara up to the Normandy, a lot of dialogue varies:

One is if Shep romanced her (talk about relationship mostly); not sure if you cheated on her and then continue relationship, what changes. Another is if Shep did not romance her; they mostly talk about what Shep is fighting for (extra dialogue option other than "everyone" and "survival" if has a ME2 romance). Between these two, I noticed the option of saying "Thank You" when given the dog tags is different (Romanced: sometimes you get back what you lost; not romanced: the dog tags changed many hands but Admiral Hackett gave them to her and sends his regards and hopes Shep is ok). Also, Joker's sexual comment on Liara changes depending if Shep is not in a romance (embraced eternity lately?), Femshep romance (Vaenia joke), Maleshep romance ("eyes go freaky"). Also, if a squadmate died, Shep has an extra dialogue option (their heroes). And Liara talks about Horizon if the Collectors weren't destroyed yet.

Very immersive and without bugs (that I have seen). Kinda like Alpha Protocol's varying dialogue. Pretty cool if ME3 has more referential dialogue changing on choices (more than ME2).

I gotta see what the Shadow Broker says about each squadmember though.

--Commander Shepard 08:54, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

Shadow Broker squad member quotes are all posted on the unique dialogue pages for the squad members. Someone graciously gave of his time and stayed up till all hours to get nearly all of them, though I did have help with two or three. (Note- my ego truly knows no bounds!) So yeah, the squad member lines have been up on the site pretty much since day one. The romance lines, on the other hand, are taking a little longer. In an aside, I'll also say the following about the squad member quotes: Miranda's and Jacob's are a disappointment, since they're the same, and my personal favorite is Morinth's. SpartHawg948 08:56, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
The shadow broker reacts to Morinth? Wish I knew that before I completed the DLC, he's gotta be the only person in the galaxy apart from Kasumi(?) who can tell the difference XD Ilovetelephones 10:19, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
But that's what makes it so cool... he can't tell the difference. He still thinks it's Samara, just that she's acting a bit differently than before. Check it out at Morinth/Unique dialogue, and compare to what he says about Samara at Samara/Unique dialogue. SpartHawg948 10:21, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
Ahh I see it now, thats pretty sweet, I think the varying dialogue almost makes up for the fact that none of the characters outside the DLC get extra dialogue, although the Liara/Shepard combat talk was very amusing. Ilovetelephones 11:09, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
Indeed on all counts! :) SpartHawg948 11:15, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up on the squad dialogue by the Shadow Broker, didn't know that! --Commander Shepard 22:42, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

Quite an accomplishment...[]

Am I the only one who thinks this article is one of the best and well-organized guides on the Wiki? Seriously, in mere days, we've turned it into an all round beautiful article, after its initial status as a single-line article. I'm so proud of you fellow editors and your hard work. We've certainly pulled it up with this article! Fiery Phoenix 20:44, September 13, 2010 (UTC)

I second the praise. Also, the fine efforts and results might go to show how much players generally agree that this mission is excellent. AnotherRho 21:07, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

Cutscene Bug[]

I don't know how common this is, but nearly everytime I beat the Shadow Broker and the cutscene plays with Feron escaping, I never actually see Feron. His dialouge still plays but he's completely invisible (which is really creepy, seeing as he talks to Liara in that cutscene). Has this happened to anyone else? 86.25.223.205 16:52, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

That's weird. It never happened to me though, on all 5 runs of the DLC. Are you on 360? Fiery Phoenix 17:14, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm on 360. Funny thing is though, the only time I got to see him was when I used my FemShep with Liara romanced, which showed what was meant to happen. (I forgot to sign in before sorry) Daemon hunter17 18:06, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

I see.

If you haven't, I suggest installing the game on your hard drive. That seems to actually fix the majority of these weird bugs. Also, try reloading and/or rebooting. That usually fixes such things, too.

Good luck! Fiery Phoenix 19:08, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

Breakthough as far as the Renegade hostage option goes[]

My Shepard was able to select the Renegade option without even having a full bar. (Although the 100% bonus talent was selected, Guardian, in this case.

http://yfrog.com/j8shepardkp

Perhaps, like the Paragon option, it has something to do with your previous game's choices.

He makes mention to the fact of "this is how a real Specter would handle the situation." Perhaps you NEED the 100% bonus talent? I know when I ran through (selecting the Renegade option) that I chose not to get re-instated as a Specter, but Shepard still acted as if he was one. --Actuality 20:43, October 6, 2010 (UTC)
I have about as much Renegade as you do (or a little bit more, about 90% [911 points, to be accurate]), as well as the 100% bonus and was able to select the Renegade option as well. I wonder what it is that makes some people unable to select the option even with a full bar... M0RGION 01:38, November 8, 2010 (UTC)
It's about percentages/ratios, not how full the bar is. The bar is practically meaningless, although it does tell you how many points you have (but again, the paragon/renegade dialogues are not triggered by a point threshold like in ME). Just by general principle, if you're doing this late in the game, after having completed lots of other missions and assignments where you didn't obtain renegade points, your renegade ratio is not going to be high enough to meet the renegade dialogue requirement. Rtl42 18:58, December 30, 2010 (UTC)
With both bars (just) maxed out I was able to use both, so it must be something else on top of that. --93.232.164.250 02:04, March 3, 2013 (UTC)

Strange bug with early LoTSB playthrough[]

On my current ME2 character, I ran through LoTSB before recruiting either Samara or Thane (and also before the collector ship mission). After beating Shadow Broker, I went back, went to Liara's office and got the tipoff for Thane, which worked fine.

Now I can't get Liara's office to give me the intel for Samara. It displays Samara in the list but there's no effect when I select her name. Also there's a second entry named No More Intel, which is the entry that you get when you've already done both Samara and Thane's recruiting missions.

I probably should have gotten the intel for both Samara and Thane when I was at the office the first time, but this is still a mildly annoying bug; looks like this playthrough will be Justicar-free.

I tried deleting the DLC, but that just gave me an error trying to load the save game.

This is on the Xbox version. --Haflinger 22:56, January 10, 2011 (UTC)

Well when it comes to deleting the DLC, it won't load the game because you don't have the DLC installed and you completed the mission on it. As to the Samara bug, I know this has come up before, with not being able to access Samara's recruitment mission, and IIRC it is noted in the appropiate places. Random additional Mission reward on console near Liara?[]

Anonymus (on PC): After getting the final mission report you can go in the room with Liara with a bunch of consoles. Directly to the left of Liara is a console which in german version is called "Anlieferung" (probably "delivery" in english version). Opening this console always gave me random results. Sometimes 2500 palladium, sometimes even 20.000. But I also got randomly a free weapon upgrade (one for SMG, one for Assault rifle). This means you can get an upgrade for free. I have not found this mentioned at all.

P.S. I did a bunch of reloads and testet it further. Most of the times you get some ore as reward (I even got 80.000 platin!), 1250 eezo, 2500 iridium, but rarely you realy get a free weapon upgrade.

In my opinion this should be tested and verified by other players.

Yeah we already have a lot of that detalied in the Shadow Broker Base article. Where it is much more appropriate. Lancer1289 19:09, March 9, 2011 (UTC)
Oh sorry, than you can delete this whole stuff ;)

Achievement on Hardcore?[]

When you turn the game onto hardcore, do you need to do it before talking to Liara, or before getting the mission from your computer in order to get the achievement?NickTyrong 04:30, March 18, 2011 (UTC)

I would have to say that you should do be before talking to Liara. As you can get Tali's mission, which requires hardcore to get the Geth Pulse Rifle, when you are on a lower difficulty and yet you can set the difficulty to hardcore before you land and still get the rifle. Or before leaving the landing area IIRC. I haven't tested this myself, as I played the first time through on Insanity, but setting it before talking to Liara is probably a safe bet. Lancer1289 05:08, March 18, 2011 (UTC)
I changed the difficulty as soon as I landed on Illium and continued the mission normally from there. Achievement popped up just fine at the end. -- Fiery Phoenix 18:32, March 21, 2011 (UTC)

Glitch Vasir Fight[]

I just one shotted her using Liara's Statis and it skipped right to the video of her dying. Reloaded the save tried again and it did it again. PC version. I found this hilarious. Tough boss brought down in one shot.--67.172.138.177 06:04, October 13, 2011 (UTC)

While the above isn't quite detailed enough to be positive, I think I can confirm that this not only works, but also that it works on the Xbox 360 version as well.
In my case, when she came back to the fight with no barrier but still with full armor, I had planned to nail her with stasis just as she dropped from the balcony to our level. I jumped the gun slightly though, and managed to hit her with the stasis (rank 3) before she moved. She stood frozen for the duration, and then as she fell she went slightly backward, deeper onto the balcony above. Apparently that qualified as a "knocked from the building" death, and it went straight to her dialogue scene.
I'm not sure if this will work sooner in the fight, nor how reliable it is, but I got a good laugh out of it and I plan to attempt it again next run.
Just for the sake of specifics, this was on the Xbox 360, Insanity, level 30 mostly paragon FemShep, with obligatory Liara (who seems to max out at 29 squad points, essentially not getting the +1 "bonus" for what would be her loyalty power since it's already unlocked), and Miranda. Gender Confused Agents :P[]

I'm surprised it isn't mentioned in the article already; am I right that after killing Vasir, in the scene with Liara listening to the Shadow Broker Agents, they say "a woman and T'Soni have retrieved the data" even if Shepard is male? Is this worth mentioning as trivia? Tali's no.1 fan (talk) 13:06, September 5, 2012 (UTC)

Bug after pursuing Vasir.[]

Has anyone encountered this bug after chasing Vasir from the hotel. From the room where you kill the enemies and run to the door to get outside you get the cut-scene about Liara shooting Vasir. On my first playthrough (Soldier, Veteran) I encountered no problems but now (Adept, Hardcore) there comes "loading..." after that scene and I never get to the cab. Instead after some while the game continues and I can move around in the area (and go back to the hotel even) and Vasir is standing idle behind the cab. Quicksave before the cut-scene doesn't help as this still happens. Any way to just "jump over"? Playing on PC--193.40.10.222 16:12, October 16, 2012 (UTC)

Answering myself. So I restarted the mission and chose other squad members. Before, they were Grunt and Kasumi. Now I took Miranda and Jack and all worked out just fine.--193.40.10.222 17:43, October 23, 2012 (UTC)

Controller Battery Death[]

I finished Lair of the Shadow Broker and my controller died right before the last Paragon interrupt. I looked it up to see how important it was. "There is a very brief paragon interrupt available if Liara is your romance option, to confirm the relationship." I'm so pissed off right now. I'm wondering, since I already had her as a love interest in the Genesis DLC (since I don't own the first game), is that Paragon interrupt extremely important to keep the relationship? Heh, how the Trivia bit competely ignores the absolutely hilarious chat with Liara in the hotelroom and her "dual" opinion about the "Lustful Video" is beyond me, it's one of the most funny comments from Liara in the entire game franchice imo, and if not nemtioned players might just loose out on that fun part, ofc not "Mission critical" in any way, but as trivia goes ??? Jeez ;P .....

Revised Rooftop Chaos Combat Strategy[]

I completely rewrote the combat strategy section for the rooftop battle as it was overly complicated and frankly the cover position it advised is not reliable; whoever wrote it even noted it seemed "suicidal" but actually wasn't... the only problem is, it usually was suicidal. What I replaced it with was the cover position that has worked for me many times and is generally the most sound place to stay, combined with combat tips and knowledge I've gained from multiple successful Iron Man runs of the Trilogy. It should be noted that for the rooftop battle, I always just use the Avalanche spam technique, hitting each wave as they touch down, but for those who don't want to expend the heavy weapon ammo doing that, this new combat strategy section I wrote should suffice.

Revised Broker Ship Exterior Final Battle Strategy[]

The strategy section for the final battle on the Broker Ship exterior while waiting for Liara's hack is EXTREMELY cumbersome and overcomplicated with these long-winded explanations for different cover positions etc. I've beaten this fight on Insanity with every class and I know from experience that there is only ONE spot you need to fight from while keeping your squad by the door safely out of the way; when I'm less busy I'm going to hack this section down to size - if people want to overcomplicate it they can do on their own time but for the purposes of this Wiki, ONE straightforward, simple strategy that works is all that's needed. Ale89515 (talk) 23:09, May 22, 2020 (UTC)

This section's now been trimmed down to size; I'm going to be honest that felt like removing a tumor. Ale89515 (talk) 07:17, May 25, 2020 (UTC)

Credit Cap still in LE[]

Investigated with an old save importanted from OT to LE and it looks like the credit cap still exists. Whenever I do a fresh playthrough will check again, but at least with the playthrough I checked, here's what happened:

  • Credits right before facing Shadow Broker: 110,098
  • Credit award reported on Summary Screen: Cerberus Funding (45,000), Credits found (67,500), Credits total (112,500)
  • Credits right after beating Shadow Broker: 146,098 (ACTUAL LotSB total credits: 90,700)
