ME2 Defenses[]
Does Neural Shock bypass any or all defenses (armor/barriers/shields)? Or is it like most active powers aside from Overload and Warp, and mostly useless on Hardcore/Insanity? ShadowRanger 22:07, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
Husks[]
Does Neural Shock paralyze husks, abominations, scions and the like? Because Reave doesn't.

- Well it has almost been a year but I've finally decided to experiment with neural shock and I've found that it is an instant kill against unprotected husks. I only played the mission on Horizoon so I'm not sure what happens with abominations. Of course, neural shock won't work against scions or praetorians since they are fully armoured. Accuracy Penalty[]
Does anyone know exactly how much Neural Shock adversely affects accuracy? 71.245.12.26 03:13, October 20, 2010 (UTC)
- From testing, there appears to be ZERO impact on enemy accuracy, either due to a bug, or because it was a feature they thought about implementing but didn't in the final version of the game but forgot to change the tooltip. I tested in the OT, Insanity, using console to look at enemy accuracy and damage numbers (Profile Combat Target). I tested a Level 3 Neural Shock on several types of Eclipse mercs including heavies and regular troops; Aim Error numbers and damage remained consistent before and after they were shocked. I could notice no difference in enemy damage output or firing patterns. In short, no discernible effect on enemy weapon fire or accuracy. Neo89515 (talk) 23:51, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
Mass Effect 3[]
Neural Shock is technically in Mass Effect 3, only it's not a power. Instead, it's an evolution of Overload appropriately called "Neural Shock". It does basically the same thing it did in the second game, temporarily incapacitating unprotected humanoid enemies. Should this be mentioned?
- No because it is already mentioned in the appropriate places, and if it isn't in the game as a power, then it doesn't get mentioned in this article. Lancer1289 03:01, March 21, 2012 (UTC)
ME2 buggy[]
This power has several glitchy behaviors I've seen (PC, OT):
- If a target hit by Neural Shock is spasming or on the ground but then hit by a force power like biotics (tested Throw) the 2nd power will CANCEL the shock duration, causing the target to immediately recover and get back to its feet. In some rare cases I saw targets practically land on their feet after being hit with a long duration shock then immediately followed by Throw. Weapon fire often seemed to to this too; basically anything with any kind of ability to stagger a target would cancel Neural Shock immediately.
- Sometimes just fails to work for no apparent reason.
- Heavy Neural Shock's duration sometimes just seems to end very prematurely. Didn't see this behavior with Neural Shockwave.
- At least it is fairly consistent on which targets it works on (basically the same on anything, tested klixen, varren, krogan, humanoids). It does insta-kill husks but not Abominations. Neo89515 (talk) 03:15, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
Adding to the list of glitches (OT):
- Casting Neural Shock on one target can cancel the stun on other targets prematurely, causing them to get back up. This happens with multiple types of targets (tested on Klixen/mercs), with both Mordin and Shepard's version, and with both a Level 3 NS and a Level 4 Shockwave NS. At first I though perhaps there was some hidden "cap" on the number of targets you can knock out, but that doesn't seem to be the case on further testing. It just seems to cause targets to wake up for no reason way sooner than they should when you recast the power on other targets. In conclusion, it's a glitchy-ass power and I'd never consider relying on it except for use as a Husk killer, because at least they aren't getting back up. I'd be interested to know if any of this was corrected in LE. Neo89515 (talk) 04:23, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
