synthetic insights security system[]
i've removed the years-old claim that disabling the SI security system at the mezzanine affects the circumstances at the SI office. i've run both scenarios, on and off, both show no difference whatsoever. enemy count = same, dialogue scenarios = same. PC, patched, all DLCs, insanity.
i would like more concrete observations as to the actual effects in the future before it can be reinserted. - I was wondering about that myself. Ever time that I've done it, I can never quite tell if anything has changed after doing it. Great Mara (talk) 03:55, October 5, 2014 (UTC)
As far as I know, nothing changes, I've shot the thing, disabled the thing and done nothing, (using a Default MaleShep Soldier w/ Singularity bonus Talent, Level 60, Tali/Liara, with Noveria being the third plot world done after Therum and Feros, and on Normal difficulty.), and there has been no difference. I think it might have been meant to do something but didn't for some reason, like disabling it would have meant Stirling wouldn't have shown up or keeping it would have led to the fight with Stirling. That's just my guess. --173.58.251.107 05:30, October 5, 2014 (UTC)
- It's such a small effect that it's super easy to not notice. Hacking the SI Security System removes a single Assault Drone from the possible encounter there. Not only is it easy to have it just get killed by your squadmates during the fight (those being so fragile), but also if you Paragon/Renegade the initial conversation (which you probably do, right?) then that ALSO removes the Assault Drone in addition to the two schlubs at the doorway. So the only way to encounter the assault drone is to BOTH not-hack the security system AND not-sweettalk the security schlubs. Screenshots below. Cattlesquat (talk) 16:52, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

- alright, personally verified and finally saw the drone. after 6 years. Ratting out Opold - Lorik consequences[]
This sentence :
>Otherwise, you can still obtain the mission from the turian himself on the Mezzanine.
seems to indicate that you can both rat out Opold and still do the Synthetics Insight quest.
I don't think that is actually possible, from my playthrough. I can't get Lorik to talk about anything else but Benezia.79.253.30.21 15:03, May 23, 2015 (UTC)
- and the verbatim alternate journal entry from directly talking to qui'in after giving opold's package to anoleis proves otherwise. it's pretty straightforward: one dialogue branch is about benezia, the other has qui'in's standard intro where he dumps his problems on you (and you have to explicitly agree to help). - I've had the same problem. The solution that worked for me is to use a console command "Ghost" to enter the elevator to the Synthetic Insights, then "Walk" to return to normal walking, activate the elevator and continue as usual. Qui'in might not have an option to give him the evidence or to convince him to testify, just ask him about Benezia, then pick "Another question".91.122.103.204 12:05, January 5, 2016 (UTC)
no console tinkering is even required to acquire this mission. here are the idiotproof steps that -will- work on any playthrough.
- before talking to anoleis, agree to smuggle for opold. get the mod.
- FIRST MEETING WITH ANOLEIS. parasini lets you in. you and anoleis talk business. give the mod to him instead of opold there and then.
- presto you can leave port hanshan immediately. without even meeting qui'in or parasini whispering to you. but if for some odd reason you want to help with his problems go right ahead and talk to him as usual. again, after the investigate option you should have just 3 lines: benezia, return, and who are you. no points guessing which path dumps the mission on you.
if you had to break out the console to activate the mission that simply means you deviated somewhere along the line. this is simple flowcharted logic and not a one-off glitch like you might be thinking. Possible Bug: Greyed out Charm and Intimidate options[]
So I've done the mission as usual, got the evidence, convinced Qui'in to testify. Then, before telling Parasini to arrest Anoleis, I went to Anoleis to extort him, as the "Multiple Choices" section suggested. When telling him I have the evidence, the Charm and Intimidate options are greyed out, leaving me only the standard accept or refuse options. I'm playing a level 60 soldier, and have max charm and intimidate. I did turn over Opold's package to Anoleis prior to going to the Synthetic Insights lab but after accepting the mission from Qui'in, so that may be affecting things.
Please explain reverts[]
(to admin) The most recent revert of the edit by user: Perseus022 is a good example of why you should take 10 to 30 seconds and explain your reverts. I (contrary to what you might think) DO read change logs and edit histories, and I saw this edit and was close to undoing it myself, for the reason that specific info on Paragon/Renegade point awards are listed fully in the Morality Guide pages and don't therefore need to be put into other articles/walkthroughs. However, I was not sure enough as to whether this was a hard and fast "rule" to undo the edit. If you explained your reverts with reference to the rule, you will give not only the editor but 3rd parties more information and help them become better editors. Failure to do so has a definite chilling effect on whether people will want to continue editing in the future. Long before I started editing actively, I very nearly decided it wasn't worth my time because my first edits here were so quickly and wordlessly deleted I was sure you were a bot. Please consider this (again). Ale89515 (talk) 18:07, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
