Just updated the article to include more information on the different files. For more detailed history of changes, check out: User:Silverstrike/Sandbox/PC Tweaks: Advanced Settings and User:Silverstrike/Sandbox/PC Tweaks (Final).

standardizing articleEdit

I have made some work on this article, but still I feel that it is hard to read and understand - there is also lack of standardization, and allot of different approaches on every snippet/section.

I would like to settle this before I move on to the other configuration files, and I feel that I am too familiar with this article to make those decisions, I would appreciate comments and ideas regarding how to make the article more readable and accessible, especially from those that don't understand technical approaches and/or don't have any experience with those kind of configuration files. Thank you. --silverstrike 15:18, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

I can do a brief pass for readability and put it in order if you like, but I'm unfamiliar with PC tweaking so I'd need you to double-check for accuracy along the way. --Tullis 15:24, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
That will be great. Thank you :). I actually prefer that someone that is unfamiliar with those kind of tweaking will look at that article - I want to make this article accessible to all, regardless of experience in editing configuration files... --silverstrike 15:31, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

High resolution screenshots - ME2? Edit

Anyone knnow if this can be applied to ME2 and if so, how? --Pa-Ec 17:35, February 8, 2010 (UTC)

ME2 lacks the necessary configuration files in the folder, so as of yet, no console-enabling or fiddling with the game engine. Phylarion 17:36, February 8, 2010 (UTC)

Key bindings with modifiers Edit

Something I found when experimenting with BIOInput.ini is that if you want to use a key with and without modifiers (Ctrl, Shift, Alt) then you must define the binding with the modifier before the binding without the modifier or those binds will not work.

Binds "Ctrl+1" to Quick slot 1

Bindings=(Name="1",InputMode=BIO_INPUT_MODE_NONE,Command="UseAbility 0",Control=True,Shift=False,Alt=False)

This must be defined in the file before the same key without a modifier.
Binds "1" to assault rifle.

Bindings=(Name="1",InputMode=BIO_INPUT_MODE_NONE,Command="SwitchToWeapon 2",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)

So a binding for "Ctrl+1" should be above a binding for "1" in BIOInput.ini otherwise the binding for "Ctrl+1" will not function. 16:25, May 22, 2010 (UTC)Ocyris

Is there a way to get the Asari Commando armor they wear on Noveria and if so whats it called and possibly the console cheat for it? DivergenceEve (talk) 17:53, August 3, 2012 (UTC)

About the last links Edit

I want to note that the links at the end of the page are all dead now.-- 02:11, January 10, 2013 (UTC)Datcoolguy

also, no idea what you're talking about. must be a problem on your end. checked all the links and they all worked fine as of today. About GiveAll command Edit

IT should be noted that if you use this comand, when you open the inventory it will lag quite a bit while it loads up the entire list and if you go to the sell part of any shop the game will just freeze (On an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.6 E4500 that is) because of it not being to handle so many items on the inventory -- 07:11, January 12, 2013 (UTC)Datcoolguy

Resetting the Cinematic Camera? Edit

Is there any way to go back to scripted cinematic camera angle after toggling the FlyCam off and on? That's always the one thing that annoys me when using that command. Jedted (talk) 00:10, April 5, 2013 (UTC)

Tungsten X Rounds!?Edit

So, recently, just out of curiosity, I decided to check and see if there were any Tungsten/Shredder VIII, IX, or X rounds that could be obtained via codes. Turns out, when I entered "givemod self 8/9/10 x_wammo_tungsten/shredder" (obviously, without the slashes and with only one of the provided variables at a time), they actually appeared in my inventory. Then I tried Tungsten/Shredder I, II, and III, and I was able to make them appear as well. However, the upper range Tungsten/Shredder rounds were no more powerful than level-VII, and the lower range mods were no less powerful than the level-IV mods.
Is this worth even mentioning on the main page, or in the trivia or whatever for the pages related to the mods themselves? Maybe it already is on the main page, or one of the others, as I haven't read every single word in the rather dense main page (I'm not dissing it; I'm just impatient), although a quick search via my browser's "Find" function yielded nothing of the sort. Balarick (talk) 12:15, December 8, 2013 (UTC)

Pardon me. What I meant to say I typed (and what I did, in fact, type) was "giveitem self 8/9/10 x_wammo_tungsten/shredder"; not "givemod etc." I sometimes get confused about the cheat codes when playing, and while I did type "giveitem" when I got these 8th-/9th-/10th-level Tungsten Rounds in the game (which, again, were no more powerful than 7th-level rounds), I got it wrong when describing it. Balarick (talk) 12:06, December 9, 2013 (UTC)

Some Item Stats TablesEdit

I made a table for the super gun stats because virtually every online source for information about the super gun just states a damage range of 20000 to 40000 rather than listing the stats for each manufacturer code. I'm not sure where the table should be inserted and I don't want to mess up the page so I'll just leave it here for someone else to add. Perhaps it should be added to a separate linked page to keep things tidy? --AnimalsArentFood (talk) 02:36, February 27, 2014 (UTC)

I suspect that this command may be for giving grenade launchers and not grenades. It may be that the final release of the game includes only one grenade launcher (the Hahne-Kedar Grenade Launcher) and the command is therefore pretty much useless (since the characters already have that launcher). It would be nice if we could confirm this as players have, for years, been trying to use the GiveAllGrenades command to get all grenades (ie, all ammo for the launcher).

GiveAllGrenades Manf_HK_GrenadeLauncher

This might be the only valid command string for GiveAllGrenades. Manf_HK_GrenadeLauncher is found in BIOG_2DA_Equipment_X.upk. Though, if that command were valid, you'd think a duplicate Grenade Launcher would appear (assuming they didn't disable such functionality for launchers).

The GiveArmor command does more than just give armor. In fact, it seems to be able to do everything GiveItem can do. There may be a difference between the two but I haven't found it yet. --AnimalsArentFood (talk) 19:15, March 1, 2014 (UTC)

There are a bunch of additional upgrades that can be obtained by using GiveItem with the four BASE_XMod types and the various manufacturer codes.
Unfortunately, I tested a few of these upgrades and noticed no improvements; the bonuses appeared to be ineffective. Maybe someone else will be able to identify some of these upgrades that do work, or find a way to get all of them working.

GiveItem Self 10 BASE_XMod_Weap_Func Manf_Spectre03_Weap
GiveItem Self 10 BASE_XMod_Weap_Ammo Manf_Spectre03_Weap
GiveItem Self 10 BASE_XMod_Armor_Func Manf_Spectre03_Armor
GiveItem Self 10 BASE_XMod_Grenade_Ammo Manf_Spectre03_Weap

I've primarily been using weapon manufacturer codes to produce the weapon & ammo upgrades, and armor manufacturer codes to produce the armor upgrades, but you can mix them up to produce weapon upgrades that can be added to your armor & vice versa. You can also bring BioAmp & OmniTool manufacturer codes into the mix.

Note: Because adding a manufacturer code to one of the usual commands used to obtain an upgrade (eg, GiveItem Self 10 X_WAmmo_HyperRail Manf_Spectre03_Weap) can change the displayed stats (bonuses & such) for the upgrade while apparently not actually affecting the working stats of the upgrade, it becomes more likely that the upgrades obtained using this BASE_XMod method do not have working stats that coincide with their displayed stats.

Here are key bindings if you want to check out the upgrades without typing a bunch of console commands:

Medal of Honor Achievement 'Glitch' Edit

I just found out that unlocking the Medal of Honor achievement through the console does NOT raise the level cap from 50 to 60. Apparently that's dependent on you having actually completed a previous playthrough. This is relevant because other achievement bonuses DO get applied if enabled through console commands, as far as I know.

On a side note -- can anyone tell me what level is attainable on a single playthrough? I've been told level 60 is impossible to reach anyway, without doing a "NewGame+" with an existing character. Anhaedra (talk) 11:30, May 11, 2014 (UTC)

m_fShowLastLineOffset Edit

The m_fShowLastLineOffset setting seems to have no effect on when the dialog wheel appears as it states it does under the Conversation header in the BioGame.ini section of the article. What does seem to effect is the m_fShowRepliesOffset setting, which is located in the same file (directly above m_fShowLastLineOffset in my ini, even). The setting seems to determine the offset, in seconds, between the end of the last line of dialog, and when the dialog wheel appears. Setting this to a relatively high number, like 20.0, will make the dialog wheel appear immediately - in the case of setting it to 20.0, it will appear immediately once the last line of dialog starts in all conversations where the last line of dialog is equal to or less than 20 seconds long. -- 18:01, June 2, 2014 (UTC)

I think you're right about this, not sure why nobody changed it yet. I'll add the 'ShowReplies' line to the section but leave the 'LastLine' there too. Jedted (talk) 18:14, March 15, 2015 (UTC)

visual weather effects Edit

Anyone know if there's a way to turn these off? They only really add minimally to gameplay experience--on most planets that have them they're barely even noticeable--but they slow down my framerate considerably. Everywhere that doesn't have them I get a perfectly respectable 30-60fps but once the fuzzy translucent wind effects kick in I'm barely getting 5. Especially frustrating when fighting thresher maws or playing the decryption minigame. Hoarous (talk) 21:20, June 12, 2015 (UTC)

Would raising XP break other game mechanics? Edit

Usually I never use console commands in any game, as I like to feel that I've accomplished things by myself (within the "game frame"). I'm currently at level 43 in a second Mass Effect run with a new character, all side quests having been done with only Virmire, Asteroid X57, Pinnacle Station and the conduit quest to do. My goal was to attain 50 XP so that I could go get the choice of a top weapon at Pinnacle station, but only now have I learned that killing enemies from the Mako doesn't give any XP points, if not XP penalties ! Hence my will to use the GiveXP console command instead of starting a new game again... Two questions: 1- Will using a console command such as GiveXP "break" other game mechanics (e.g. talent points etc.)? 2- Will I be able to import a save file with such a tweaked XP in Mass Effect 2? Thanks in advance for your enlightenment :) --HawkFest (talk) 13:52, January 4, 2016 (UTC)

Hello HawkFest,
Please note that article talk pages are reserved for article upkeep, so if you want to ask for general support/advice in the future, please use the forum or blog space.
Killing an enemy while inside the Mako does incur an XP penalty, 50/60% depending on difficulty. You can consult the Experience Guide for more info. I haven't heard of small tweaks like giving yourself more XP/talent points resulting in problems later on, but there's always a risk of unforeseen issues when making modifications, so nothing can be guaranteed one way or the other.
