Name?[]

So in the trivia about her name, there's the bit about the first name (rana is a name for a genus of frog) and a bit about her last last name being a portmanteau of thanatos (greek for death) and optic, and then some kinda speculative bit about her name meaning something along the lines of "one who witnesses death". But it occurs to me that we're only looking at part of her name for the last part. Wouldn't a better and more complete approximate meaning of her name be "frog that witnesses death"? :P SpartHawg948 05:38, December 8, 2009 (UTC)

In the realm of name trivia, looked it up on a whim and discovered this: Wikipedia:Thanatopsis . Apparently, "thanatopsis" is translated as "consideration of death" -- which in my opinion could qualify it as trivia; as the phrase is so close to her name, and you are literally "considering her death" in the first game. Killing her[]

I've seen on various parts of the site that it is possible to kill Rana in ME2. But on this page it doesn't explicitly state that she can be killed - and while playing I've never once even been able to see how to kill her. So can she be killed or does the game force you to let her escape? TheFedExPope 01:41, June 25, 2010 (UTC)

The game lets her go. After digging through my saved games, I found that there is no way to kill her. This is strongly hinted from this that she will come back for ME3. But it seems that if you didn't kill her on Virmire, then she will be back. So no you can't kill her. Lancer1289 03:20, June 25, 2010 (UTC)

Presumably by "she" you mean Belinda Cornish the voice actress. Mark Meer's wikipedia article says yes. :-) Cattlesquat (talk) 15:02, April 15, 2014 (UTC)
