The Multiplayer Challenges

On your sandbox, should the 'first aid medals' silver challenge for Mass Effect 3 really be linked to 'first aid' from Mass Effect? Just seems a bit pointless. Sqarkplugz (talk)

Hmm, I just copied and pasted from the current MP Challenges page, but you're right. Trandra (talk) 20:57, November 19, 2012 (UTC)

Didn't realise that you'd just copied from the current article. Nevermind, I fixed it there. Sqarkplugz (talk)

/ instead of :

now that we've had ample time to see how tabview looks like on the weapons pages in hindsight i think i should've suggested that you should've used / instead of : in naming the subpages, like what we have here: Garrus_Vakarian/Unique_dialogue. there's an autogenerated backlink on that page, which we do not have on the weapons subpages. as it stands the current user experience on editing is edit subpage -> remain on subpage without any convenient way to get back to the main article : [[M-55_Argus:ME3MP]].

my fault for not pointing it out sooner, i guess. T̴̴͕̲̞̳̖̼̱͒͛̎͒ͫ̃ͧeͩ̈̽̈҉͓̝̰̼̦̫̤̀͠m̫̪̪̯̻͎̫̅̇̓̇͌̚p̸̙̝̓̓͌ͨ͆ͣͥ̂̕o͒̽͐̽͏̞̬̻͕͔͕͚̰͍͠͞ṙ̢̞͚͈̹̰ͨ̓ͭ̈́̌ạ̢̧̪̹̺̺̣̹̲͂͆̏ͪͨ͒ͭř̹͈͜͠y̷͍̻̜̹̼̾̽̈́e̵̹̼̟̦͚͐̈́͌͘d͉̲̣̻͉̱͗̅ḭ̷̻̆͋̆̓̔͝t̨͍̦̫̗͂̅̍̋̆ͩ͝ộ̫̟̬̳̝̲̾ͫ̒̿ͮ̑̚rͯ̎ͨͭ̄̿̽͛҉̠̫̱̠̘̘̲́ͅ7̩̻ͤͩͨ͝͡8̜̣̙͇̻ͨ͛͛̆͒̆̽̒͐͜͡ ͥ̍̉̃̇ͥ̓ͨ͏̕҉̥̹͓̗̤̠̖̤ (talk) 08:45, November 25, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I noticed that. An admin will have to help or have to actually do it because they are able to delete redirects from renaming pages, or they can suppress the redirect. Trandra (talk) 16:46, November 25, 2012 (UTC)

Power Re-classification

I've brought this topic up before; there's a short discussion that ended with me on the Tech talk page. What I want to do is re-examine how powers are classified on the wiki, because some of their current designations are silly or are contradicted by in-game statistics. In particular, Ballistic Blades is classified as tech, even though most players are going to automatically classify it as combat. Commdor is behind the idea of using the challenges as a way to unambiguously determine where these powers go. It's a good start, but it's still incomplete because non-damage dealing powers like Sabotage and Stimulant Pack aren't listed.

Thoughts? Lksdjf (talk) 17:24, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

Also, nice manifest you have there. I've been grinding the Typhoon challenge for Gunslinger with a Typhoon at level one. I'm not even going to bother with Earth Mastery; I very much dislike the Typhoon since I had it before it was nerfed. Lksdjf (talk) 18:00, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

I think we should get someone who can look at the PC files and tell us unambiguously which ones get boosts from Tech power gear and which ones get boosts from Biotic power gear. In my opinion, that's enough to settle it, but the admins have some weird thing against it. This might not work if the gear data is stored on the server like all the weapons after the first MP DLC are.
And thanks. The Manifest took a loooong time to get. I didn't get the Typhoon until long after it was nerfed, so I still like it. :) And the Destroyer and original Turian Soldier make every gun better for Challenge grinding. Trandra (talk) 19:45, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

Biotic Protector Image Size PowerDetails

Hi Tandra

Check Out Nyreen Kandros Powers. The Biotic Protector Icon is 38px wide. I think i got the issue. In the template:PowerDetails there are after the ME3 Biotic Protector.png two bracket close "]]" set behind. Therefor the Image-Size cant apply.

I didn't edited it because teamplates are your playground. --MaverikCH (talk) 23:46, November 28, 2012 (UTC)

Just Curious

I undid the edit because it felt as though Delan was being referred to as asexual, even though we know that hanar have a concept of sex as of Mass Effect 3. I'd like your take on how it might be read. We can view it as Delan's gender being undescribed, and therefore open to interpretation with the pronoun "it", but I think that might be stretching it.Lksdjf (talk) 01:02, January 11, 2013 (UTC)

I think it's better if we keep one pronoun or another--every other pronoun in the article prior to EzzyD's change was "it" so changing that one made it consistent. I also kind of have a problem with assuming every alien with an undescribed gender is male. Trandra (talk) 06:14, January 11, 2013 (UTC)
Codex/Aliens:_Non-Council_Races#Hanar. funnily enough, it's true that on ME3 we got hanar like zymandis being referred to with male pronouns. on ME though i can only recall other characters referring to the preaching hanar (or any other hanar) as "it" (is a big stupid jellyfish).
maybe we should just refrain from pronoun use when writing about hanar in the future unless other characters refer to them in-universe with whatever pronoun they use? :/ T̴̴͕̲̞̳̖̼̱͒͛̎͒ͫ̃ͧeͩ̈̽̈҉͓̝̰̼̦̫̤̀͠m̫̪̪̯̻͎̫̅̇̓̇͌̚p̸̙̝̓̓͌ͨ͆ͣͥ̂̕o͒̽͐̽͏̞̬̻͕͔͕͚̰͍͠͞ṙ̢̞͚͈̹̰ͨ̓ͭ̈́̌ạ̢̧̪̹̺̺̣̹̲͂͆̏ͪͨ͒ͭř̹͈͜͠y̷͍̻̜̹̼̾̽̈́e̵̹̼̟̦͚͐̈́͌͘d͉̲̣̻͉̱͗̅ḭ̷̻̆͋̆̓̔͝t̨͍̦̫̗͂̅̍̋̆ͩ͝ộ̫̟̬̳̝̲̾ͫ̒̿ͮ̑̚rͯ̎ͨͭ̄̿̽͛҉̠̫̱̠̘̘̲́ͅ7̩̻ͤͩͨ͝͡8̜̣̙͇̻ͨ͛͛̆͒̆̽̒͐͜͡ ͥ̍̉̃̇ͥ̓ͨ͏̕҉̥̹͓̗̤̠̖̤ (talk) 06:34, January 11, 2013 (UTC)

Yes. I used to play the Demolisher quite often, and play the Drell Assassin frequently too. Fire Explosions happen with the Rank 5 "Fire Damage" evolution. Trandra (talk) 01:52, January 19, 2013 (UTC)

I'll remove the information for now and bring up discussion on the Talk page. Thanks for the video. Trandra (talk) 05:59, January 24, 2013 (UTC)

Please take a look at other articles. No other article is formatted that way and it shouldn't be. I directly modified them based on every other article for MP and just because they are new, they are not unique and therefore will not be treated as such. Is this still going on?--TW6464 (talk) 20:02, February 27, 2013 (UTC)

No, not officially. For now, working on getting the wiki up-to-date on the new DLC should suffice, if you were looking for something to do. (It appears that you are doing that already.) Trandra (talk) 20:06, February 27, 2013 (UTC)
yea, I got the Krogan Warlord and Awakened Cllector yesterday, so I'll add what I can get from those characters onto the character customization pages--TW6464 (talk) 20:08, February 27, 2013 (UTC)

Ballistic Blades and Proximity Mine

I saw that you removed Ballistic Blades and Proximity Mine from the Tech powers page. The last time that I did that, Lancer reverted my edits incorrectly, because I've always known that they were combat powers. What's the likelihood that we can do the same for Phase Disruptor? Your reasoning seems to have held up with regards to specific power bonuses, unless Lancer stomps back into the page and reverts that too. Lksdjf (talk) 23:21, February 27, 2013 (UTC)

Heh, I probably should have removed it with the last update I just did. It isn't a biotic power because it doesn't benefit from biotic power gear or count toward biotic kills, but I could see how it could be argued that since it uses up barriers, it is. I would personally remove it, since it is misleading to leave it there, from a gameplay perspective. Trandra (talk) 23:28, February 27, 2013 (UTC)
I'll remove it, but it'll only be put back in. Would you care to wager on how long it takes for the reversion to occur? Lksdjf (talk) 23:44, February 27, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the editing help today, just wondering the ml77 missile launcer, isn't that in me3 multiplayer?, but anyway thanks for the help. :) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Perkins98 (talk · contr).

You are most likely thinking of the Cobra Missile Launcher. If you check the trivia on the ML-77 you'll see it noted that it appeared in pre-release stills, but does not appear in the game for playable characters.
And you're welcome. Thank for you bringing attention to the small things around this wiki that need updating. Just please try to look at the whole of a page before editing so you don't make unnecessary work for yourself and others. Trandra (talk) 22:57, March 1, 2013 (UTC)

Havoc Strike as Tech?

Have you noticed that Havoc Strike kills give tech kill medals? I feel that this is incontrovertible proof that Havoc Strike is a tech power. I'm going to edit it, with your blessing. Lksdjf (talk) 23:59, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

I haven't played the Havoc since the first day I got him. I'll take the Havoc for a spin on a Bronze solo tomorrow. Servers went down today while I had 1 minute left on a Gold extraction, and I decided that that was enough for today. -_- Trandra (talk) 00:47, March 5, 2013 (UTC)
Gotten around to trying it? I know it gives tech medals, but having a newly-christened admin on my side will help my case even more. Lksdjf (talk) 13:03, March 11, 2013 (UTC)
Sorry, just did it (that tomorrow turned out to be the morning of March 5, which was Citadel DLC release day). 10 kills, bronze medal for tech kills. So definitely considered a tech skill by the game. Trandra (talk) 15:45, March 11, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks! Now, let's see if Lancer will revert it like he did last time. Lksdjf (talk) 01:17, March 12, 2013 (UTC)

User Page

Hey Trandra. I was just looking at your page and was wondering if you could educate me as to how to do a "Commander Shepard" layout of my very own. Thanks. Hefe (talk) 13:54, March 7, 2013 (UTC)

I think the easiest way to do it is if you just click the "edit" button on my user page and copy and paste it into your own. Then "Ctrl-F" for the parts you want to change (i.e. "Background" or "Armament" -- with no quote marks) and it'll find the table row.
I'm not sure how familiar you are with wiki tables, but the pipe | designates a new column, and a pipe and hyphen |- designates a new row. So if you're not sure what you can delete, just look at individual rows, which are between the |- symbols.
Make sure to "preview" as you edit to find out what does what and so you don't clog up the Recent Changes page. Let me know if you get stuck on something. Trandra (talk) 15:10, March 7, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll use this to create mine. I'll hit you up if I have questions/problems. Hefe (talk) 15:52, March 7, 2013 (UTC)

ME: Infiltrator picture

Hi again, as I said i will try to improve the ME:I content. I just acquire a tablet galaxy and ME:I and I'm then able to take quality screenshot for the article. I will then take screenshot for :

  • Character page (volus and inali as alies and turian as protagonist)
  • mission page (all mission + bonus mission)
  • Ennemies (all ennemies of the game in good quality)
  • Equipment/Abilities
  • Mechanism of the game (morale choice, credits, intel points,...)

My point is that with my english level (bad spelling and grammar) and my low knowledge of wikia editions tools i will need help to introduce those picture in the right form and place. So I have some questions :

  • Is talk page a good place to stock these image before insertion in article ? (easier than on a sand box because there is a lot of page who are concerned)
  • Can you (or do you know somebody capable) of creating a template for ennemies (such as for classic ME games ?) ?
  • Can ME:I content added to classic article ? (such as morale choice mechanism, ennemies pages like cerberus troopers who are also present in ME3, mission track,...)

Thank you for your help and don't hesitate to ask question if I was unclear for some points. Any other input (from anybody) is more than welcome. --DeldiRe 14:32, March 25, 2013 (UTC)

One last question because i can't find the right information. How do I start my own sandbox pages ? TY--DeldiRe 14:50, March 25, 2013 (UTC)

Answers/advice as I see the questions:
  1. When you take the screenshots and crop them, please save them as PNG files so as not to introduce artifacts (from JPG compression). If you want to just take screenshots and upload them in a zip file to a temporary file service to allow someone else to crop them, that is also fine.
  2. A talk page is NOT a good place to put them, as it usually messes up the formatting. I (and probably Temporaryeditor78, since it's his thing) can keep track of your uploads and help you insert them into the appropriate pages.
  3. I can create a template, it just takes some (unpaid) time.
  4. Please do not add the pictures to the regular adversary articles--there will either be disambiguation messages or trivia notes to indicate the similar names/enemies.
  5. To create a sandbox page, you just create a new page under your own name. After clicking that link, you would name it with your username in front, like the following examples:
User:DeldiRe/Sandbox
User:DeldiRe/Sandbox/Screenshots
User:DeldiRe/Sandbox/Mass Effect: Infiltrator
Everything that has your username in front of it is considered your userspace. However, you don't need to put the images in a sandbox, as you can see the files you've uploaded by clicking here.
I think that covers everything you've asked about so far. Feel free to ask more questions. Trandra (talk) 17:05, March 25, 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for those answers, I think that it cover everything I ask, I will come back if I have further questions.

I will be glad if you and TE78 can upload and help me to add them in a proper maneer. For the ennemy template for ME:I take your time to do it and I will start to upload screenshot of ennemies when it will be done. (a similar template is also needed for ME:G ennemies if you have extra free time, Some image have already been uploaded to help you such as life and shield bar)

And last but not least, do not hesitate to read my page back in order to check the spelling and the grammar

Thanks,--DeldiRe 17:25, March 25, 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for the help, good team work ;) Tomorrow evenig (European time) I start uploading the picture but I think I will need help to crop them.--DeldiRe 18:47, March 25, 2013 (UTC)

Can you save them in a zip file and then upload them to a temp file service (just Google for one), then give me the URL? I can do the cropping. Trandra (talk) 18:54, March 25, 2013 (UTC)

I started the cropping myself (see. Ice Giant ). Are you okay with the quality or do I send you my screenshots ?--DeldiRe 11:03, March 26, 2013 (UTC)

It's good. I don't think it's going to get any higher-res than that since it's a phone/tablet game. Trandra (talk) 17:49, March 26, 2013 (UTC)
Good work on the equipment page. For the adversaries, I saw that you are working on the template and I enjoy the result :). I started to take screenshot of ennemies but it is not so easy :
  • Maniability of the tablet is a ****
  • Ennemies are highlighted when you are too close from them so I have to throw a biotic power in order to remove the highlight and then take a screenshot in less than 2 seconds.
Nevertheless I'm still working on it, do start the upload on the page without the ennemies template or do I wait to do everything at the same time?--DeldiRe 09:38, March 28, 2013 (UTC)
The template is going to take a while because it has to go through a project proposal. If you have good, cropped pictures of enemies, then go ahead and put them on the proper pages. Trandra (talk) 09:42, March 28, 2013 (UTC)

Done—you're free to implement your relays proposal when you're ready. Trandra (talk) 19:07, March 25, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks again! I probably won't be able to get to the relays work until later today at the earliest as I am just about to have to leave for class, just letting you know. TheUnknown285 (talk) 19:10, March 25, 2013 (UTC)
Not a problem. I haven't even gotten around to incorporating the cover article into the combat articles (from your topic above) because I'm trying to figure out a good way to do so. Trandra (talk) 19:18, March 25, 2013 (UTC)
Hey, advice needed. I'm still working on the Relays List. One of the things I'm noting is which system each relay is in. For ME1, this is more difficult as the relays themselves don't show up in the systems. Plus, when you go to a new cluster, you don't directly to a gateway system; you go to the cluster map. So, unless the lore or subsequent games says which system it's in, I've been putting "Unknown" in the "System" field. However, what about clusters where we only see one system (like the Pangaea Expanse and and Sentry Omega). Do you think it's okay to assume that the single system is the gateway system (i.e., Refugee is the location of the Pangaea Expanse's relay and Hoc has Sentry Omega's relay)? Thanks. TheUnknown285 (talk) 17:55, March 27, 2013 (UTC)
I don't think we can assume that. We already know that DLC can add navigable clusters to a system. The cases you mentioned only show a single cluster for gameplay reasons—they didn't want you dilly-dallying while Virmire and Ilos were in need of saving.
You should probably get Commdor's opinion on this too, since he is probably more of an expert on the lore than I. Trandra (talk) 18:11, March 27, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm inclined to agree with you on both points. TheUnknown285 (talk) 18:46, March 27, 2013 (UTC)

In reply to your warning

Yes I know this. The edit "war" between us has already stopped and we are discussing this on his talk page. Sorry for the trouble.--Codeyy (talk) 14:06, March 28, 2013 (UTC)

Also, the reason I removed the Soldier and Vanguard bits is due to it being more obvious than the other 2 names put down. Since my bit about Shepard being capable of using the Widow and the Claymore in ME2 due to his/her cybernetics was irrelevant and obvious, wouldn't having Shepard there be as well? Especially since unlike the other 2 names in the trivia, he/she actually has a reason as to why they can use the Claymore and Widow. --Codeyy (talk) 14:12, March 28, 2013 (UTC)

  1. You seemed like you were dismissing his warning, so I thought I would remind you.
  2. I agree, and have agreed on the Talk:M-300 Claymore talk page. I'll just remove it, since that's 3 users that agree. Trandra (talk) 18:19, March 28, 2013 (UTC)

Picture upload problem

Hi,

I have a problem with the uploading of my images, the wiki says : "File type verification". I never had the problem ... And the picture is png. ideas ?--DeldiRe 21:53, March 28, 2013 (UTC)

I'm not really sure what all the upload errors are. Sometimes Wikia just has some hiccups.
Have you tried uploading under another file name? I've had errors that come up because a previous file with the same name was deleted. Trandra (talk) 22:07, March 28, 2013 (UTC)
I have a lot of images to upload, I will try again. Most of them are a picture for power/abilities. We could also use them for the ennemies template box. (for example, Inali uses "Salvo" and "Cloack"). But as I'm writing, I think that only Inali have such power (Ogre mech have similar attack animation but we cannot compare those two attack types).--DeldiRe 22:15, March 28, 2013 (UTC)
However, Krogan prisoner uses "charge" :) --DeldiRe 22:16, March 28, 2013 (UTC)

MEI enemy grouping.

Hi Trandra! It seems that you and DeldiRe are making good progress at updating the MEI sections of the wiki. I quite like the proposed template (although the picture seems disproportionately big when compared to trilogy templates, IMHO.) and hope you might get around to Galaxy adversary template sometime.

I do have questions about the grouping of some enemies, though. Given that two enemies of MEI share names with their ME3 counterparts (Assault Trooper and Centurion to be precise.), I believe it makes sense to follow the established policy and put them in a subsection of the existing article, underneath the ME3 section since apparently MEI occurs after the ME3 prologue. The new article for the MEI version would probably be superfluous, IMHO. I would like to hear your opinion on this, though. :) 4Ferelden (talk) 01:37, March 29, 2013 (UTC)

Well, the overlapping enemies are Assault Trooper, Centurion, Geth Trooper, Geth Juggernaut. Needs some community input.
The images are the same width as existing templates. I just made them a little bit smaller, though.
I need a little more information before doing the ME:G infobox.
  1. Do enemies all have shields and health? Do some have just health? Do any have armor or barriers or any combination of the four? From what you uploaded, it seems like there are only two, but I want to know I need to put a parser function in to show only the health bar or only the shield bar sometimes.
  2. Are there any special abilities/powers that need to be noted?
Otherwise, I just have to change some colors around. Trandra (talk) 02:09, March 29, 2013 (UTC)
Good debate to discuss on the forum page of Trandra, so we can have all arguments and vision in the same spot. --DeldiRe 13:30, March 29, 2013 (UTC)

So...

Regret being an admin yet? The things we have to put up with...
And do you know what the vandal was referring to when he said the admins were acting out of line or something? RC doesn't indicate anything out of the ordinary until this guy showed up again out of the blue an hour ago (I believe this is the same vandal who has attacked us on at least two other occasions in the same way in the past few months). I'm wondering if you have a clue about what set him off this time. -- Commdor (Talk) 05:22, March 31, 2013 (UTC)

Haha. I was starting to groan internally each new time I saw the little "You have new messages" pop-up. I don't have a clue about what set it off. I guess it's a blocked user coming back for revenge because they were bored, but I agree that there wasn't anything out of the ordinary until the vandalism started.
Could be because it was Lancer's first edit today since March 21. Poor guy gets quite a lot heaped on him. Trandra (talk) 05:31, March 31, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, he does. The most visible face of the administration is always the one that people throw their punches at.
Guess we'll just have to keep blocking this guy as he appears, like a super-slow game of whack-a-mole. I'll notify VSTF to keep an eye out for the night in case he makes a return. -- Commdor (Talk) 05:36, March 31, 2013 (UTC)

That would be an accurate statement. Either way, I needed a break because of the amount of school work that I've been dealing with, in addition to other things. I've also been working on transfer applications and other things. I HATE paperwork. Why do colleges and government love it? Lancer1289 (talk) 18:05, March 31, 2013 (UTC)

PC Gaming Wiki

Hi Trandra,

I'm a moderator at http://www.pcgamingwiki.com - we aim to provide tweaks and fixes for PC Games such as the Mass Effect series.

We already have substantial pages on all three games: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Mass_Effect etc.

However, I noticed your impressive Mass Effect 1/2/3 PC Tweaks pages and we could always do with some help in improving our pages and making the PC Gaming experience better for everyone.

I have used this site much in the past and recognise the quality of the editing work done by many of your volunteers. Perhaps some of your userbase would be interested in helping us improve our Mass Effect pages, updating them with important bugs and fixes etc.

I don't know if its possible for you to post an announcement about this - I don't want to sound like I'm spewing an advertisement at you, its just it'd be really nice if our Mass Effect pages were as comprehensive as possible.

Thanks,
Tom Fletcher

I have a question about Virmire, I am trying to max out my renegade so when I play ME2 I can get the big stand down achievement. Dr. Chloe's crush on Garrus

Hi,

I'm not entirely sure the etiquette here for this kind of thing. It's about the dialogue that indicates that Dr. Michel has a crush on Garrus based on her giving him turian chocolate.

You reverted it noting that not everyone who played the game would be aware of this, but outside of Tali dying in the ME2 suicide mission, I'm not sure how they wouldn't be aware of it - assuming they know about the turian chocolate at all. My reasons:

1) If you're even aware that Garrus has turian chocolate from Dr. Michel, you have brought him along on the mission. This is something no-one who didn't take Garrus along on this mission would know, so maybe removing any mention of Dr. Michel giving him turian chocolate is more correct?

2) You are forced to take Tali along on this mission, and if Garrus is there, his mention of Chole giving him chocolate provokes a reaction from Tali whether you're a friend or a RI of Garrus (a laugh and, "Oh, nothing" in the first case, a "Watch out, Shepard" if you're an RI).

Anyway, my point being - if a player is told that Dr. Chole Michel gave Garrus turian chocolate in the article, Tali is a forced participant of this conversation unless she died in the suicide mission, so anyone who knew that he had the chocolate would be aware of Tali's reaction. Maybe removing any mention of the chocolate in the article is more appropriate than removing Tali's reaction, as all that is required to include Tali's reaction in any other scenario is saying "If Tali survived the suicide mission, her reaction to Dr. Michel's gift..." etc. that I added and you reverted. 24.207.65.88 07:45, May 10, 2013 (UTC)

Ugh, and then after posting that I noticed that you didn't just revert my edit, but the edit I added to that mentioned the chocolate in the first place. Sorry. Disregard. 24.207.65.88 07:48, May 10, 2013 (UTC)

I only removed the bit about Tali's dialogue, which didn't have much relevance on Dr. Michel's page. The chocolate is still relevant. Seems everything is fine, though. Trandra (talk) 08:22, May 10, 2013 (UTC)

Them gate thangs

FWIW I was following (per perhaps bedazzled by) Eric Fagnan's title line ("Health and Shield Gates") for the post that described them. But you're right he then goes on to use them uncapped. For some reason it bothers me less to see it fully uncapped in his usage (e.g. "shield gate") than the half-capped thing that we had (e.g. "Shield gate") which looks more like a sloppy capjob. Anyway no biggie, just wanted to let you know where I had been coming from. Cattlesquat (talk) 14:25, May 29, 2013 (UTC)

The first word is capitalized in the page name because Wikia treats everything that is not the first character case-sensitively. shield gate works as a link as it is now, but if both words were capitalized, it would not. It also prevents people from using shield gate as a proper noun, because Shield Gate will get red-linked (which you can see in preview mode). Trandra (talk) 18:28, May 29, 2013 (UTC)

Question

Hello. I was directed here by someone at wikia community support. I was wondering if it was at all possible to change the name of the character associated here:[1] as well as here [2] and here [3] as my name is Aaron Sommers and even if you can change the spelling a little it would help as this shows up in all search results. I know there's nothing warranted to remove the name entirely but if you could at least change the spelling and make a concession in this case it would be appreciated. Thanks! 76.119.85.241 00:11, May 31, 2013 (UTC)

In the tongue of my ancestors, "Dis gun b gud." Lksdjf (talk) 00:14, May 31, 2013 (UTC)
But in all seriousness, we can't just make up things if we're going to be an informative site. James Vega, Ashley Williams, and Gabriella Daniels are all names that have more gaming hits than yours. In fact, the name "Aaron Sommers" only comes up with three Mass Effect hits on the first results from Google. Lksdjf (talk) 00:47, May 31, 2013 (UTC)

To the IP user named Aaron Sommers: the time to appeal to Bioware's naming of a character is before the game comes out. That is to say, it's too late now. Your only recourse is search engine optimization to make your wanted result show up earlier.

I'm also not in control of anything at the IGN wiki or Game Pressure guide, so I definitely can't help you there. Trandra (talk) 04:57, May 31, 2013 (UTC)

Vandalism

Thought I'd give you a heads up to see if there was any provision for soft-banning an IP. Also posting this on Commdor's page. (Thelee (talk) 04:20, May 31, 2013 (UTC))

Whoa, out of curiosity, what happened?

I was watching the drama (albeit with a bit of schadenfreude delight) unfold of "A Wikia Contributor" (82.207.68.142) leaving vitriol on people's pages, and now it's like none of that happened. No revert histories, I have to explicitly go to the Special:Contributions page to find any evidence of 82.207.68.142. Is there some admin tool that has a nuclear option like that? Just curious. A few questions

Hello, I have some questions for you regarding character quotes. What type of characters would you say deserves quotes, characters who appear in the games and are appear in some capacity during the story e.g. Admiral Raan, and also characters who appear in multiple games but in a smaller role, e.g. Conrad Verner, Barla Von. Should characters also have quotes in all sub-section's of their page such as Garrus having a quote in his Citadel DLC section. Anyway that's all my questions. --Hellfire101 (talk) 05:46, June 2, 2013 (UTC)

Trandra may correct me if I'm wrong but I believe only main characters such as squadmates and villains get headquotes in every section, although characters in several media, such as Kahlee and Aria should also qualify for this. Other important characters like allies, recurring characters and main characters solely from books and comics get headquotes on their pages. Minor characters don't get quotes at all as far as I am aware. Garhdo (talk) 11:31, June 2, 2013 (UTC)
Well, the MoS section about headquotes should answer most of your questions. Garrus gets headquotes at the top of the page, in the ME2 section, in his Loyalty Mission and Romance subsections, in the ME3 section, and in the Romance subsection. He would not get another one for ME3:Citadel. Admiral Raan probably deserves one, since she is Shepard's quarian contact aboard the Normandy during the Rannoch missions. Conrad probably has them because of the exception at the very bottom about "current headquotes," though I think he doesn't qualify as a major character.
Notably, the books and comics do not qualify for headquote status (though the Shadow Broker has one for Redemption, adding to the confusion). Trandra (talk) 15:49, June 2, 2013 (UTC)

MEG Enemy Box

Hi Trandra,

I come to you to speak about MEG, should we start the project for the enemye pages with a new template ? It could be usefull to begin with. I'm already working on the main page.--DeldiRe 08:28, June 11, 2013 (UTC)

I've watched some MEG stuff on Youtube and am now seriously doubting if we even need enemy infoboxes. The enemies just aren't differentiated enough that an infobox would be necessary. Trandra (talk) 12:05, June 13, 2013 (UTC)
Sure that enemies are quite similar in their shape. However there is some differences such as for the turret, jath amon, ... I'd also really like to have a infobox/template for the consistency with others games. However we can make it more simple to avoid useless work. --DeldiRe 13:57, June 13, 2013 (UTC)

First image out ;) --DeldiRe 23:35, August 19, 2013 (UTC)

The images are so small that an infobox just wouldn't work. Can't we just accept that this game is a little different and leave it be? Trandra (talk) 02:30, August 20, 2013 (UTC)
Sorry but I just can't. I guess that we can make smaller infobox just to improve the style of those images. I will try to do it myself and show you the result. --DeldiRe 08:36, August 20, 2013 (UTC)
So, I made some tests and i get that User:DeldiRe/Sandbox/Template:AdversariesMEG but how can I test it if the template is not implemented into the wiki ?

You put {{User:DeldiRe/Sandbox/Template:AdversariesMEG}} at the bottom instead of {{AdversariesMEG}}to test (transclude) it. Trandra (talk) 13:42, August 20, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick answer ;). And sorry for being a stubborn noob --DeldiRe 14:08, August 20, 2013 (UTC)

Well i have got some results but I cant put Healt in red and Shields in blue. could you help a bit ? (again). Feel free to edit my sandbox for any remarks.--DeldiRe 15:23, August 20, 2013 (UTC)

As you can see, the MEG project is moving forward and is soon over but I still do need help in my template for adversaries, I uploaded every images but my actual template seems to be lower than the average quality level of the wiki. Could you check it and give advice to improve it ? I'm a bit stuck with that right now :( --DeldiRe (Talk) 19:37, August 25, 2013 (UTC)

I just feel like it was such a poorly done, rushed little add-on, that it doesn't deserve the full treatment that we have given the regular series and ME:I. There is almost NOTHING differentiating the enemies that they deserve infoboxes--infoboxes are supposed to show at a glance what is special about that particular enemy, but there's nothing special. Do you see what I mean at all? (It's kind of like how we've minimized attention to ME: Deception.) Trandra (talk) 14:00, August 26, 2013 (UTC)
Yes there is not much who differentiate the enemies but that's why it is important to highlight it with their color (as I did in the text and as I could add in the box) and also their armament is quite different such as their shields and heath bar. However it is true that it deserves less attention than the classic series but for the sake of consistency, I feel that a little infobox is still needed ;). And for me, there is no comparison with deception which is out of the lore now.

Ah and sorry to insist on this topic but I just want to clear that project asap ;) --DeldiRe (talk) 14:14, August 26, 2013 (UTC)

Hi Trandra,

There is a first draft of my infobox : User:DeldiRe/Sandbox/Template:AdversariesMEG, what do you think about it ? I stille have two issues with it :

  • How can I center the right collumn ? (for example, "locations" is not in the middel of the box)
  • The text is on the bottum of the box instead of the right side, do you know why ?

Thanks for help. --DeldiRe (talk) 11:36, September 11, 2013 (UTC)

Need a Deletion

http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/File:BowModalOne-1.png

I've apparently uploaded three copies of the file. I'm going to upload one with a better name - can you delete all three? I'll do it after my final today. Lksdjf (talk) 10:26, June 13, 2013 (UTC)

Actually, just delete everything that I uploaded. I noticed that the icons lifted from the BioWare site lack the roughly trapezoidal border that the icons on the wiki have that allow them to stand out on the page. Do you know how to make them? Lksdjf (talk) 10:42, June 13, 2013 (UTC)

The N7HQ has coding that puts the icon onto a properly-sized background border, so that for 2 different sizes, active and inactive status, and X number of powers they don't have to upload 4X icons, but X + 4 icons. You can either do it the way they did (by testing it out in your own wikia.css file and a Sandbox page), or do it manually by pasting the background image into each icon. The URL for the background is in the code below, just put in http://social.bioware.com before it.
Here's the code for both the blank and filled large sized icon, if you understand CSS:
.poweritem
{
	width: 160px;
	float:left;
	text-align:center;
	margin: 107px 0 0 0;
	font-size: 14px;
	background:url(/cdn/social/n7hq/resources/images/inactivepower2.png) no-repeat 50% 0;
}
.statstree .poweractive
{
	background:url(/cdn/social/n7hq/resources/images/activepower2.png) no-repeat 50% 0;
}
I would recommend the manual way because Wikia is much better at image re-sizing. Trandra (talk) 12:05, June 13, 2013 (UTC)

I don't really know much about coding, to be honest (I study bio). I'll give it a try, though. Lksdjf (talk) 22:25, June 13, 2013 (UTC)

Sure. It's always fun to learn something new. I can work on it when I've got more time--I think it'd be better if we did a .poweractive and .powerinactive, but put the borders in manually. Trandra (talk) 16:50, June 15, 2013 (UTC)

Trailer page

Hi Trandra,

It's me (once more), I'd like to have your advice on the trailer project before working it further, could you have a look please, espcially about what TE78 said ? -> Forum:Trailers page, see link to my sandbox--DeldiRe 18:47, June 14, 2013 (UTC)

You may want to have a word with Thelee

Seems he intentionally added false information to the Arc Grenade page in a sad attempt to rile people who disagree with his edits.

He is not, he made a lot of great additions to the wiki related to game mechanics. If you do not agree with him on a point just bring it to the talk page --DeldiRe 13:49, June 15, 2013 (UTC)
I feel where you're coming from DeldiRe, but in this case he admitted doing it on the talk page of the Arc Grenade article. Obviously he was frustrated with a vandal who appears to be "awfully familiar with this wikis and its policies". But willfully adding false information undermines credibility for the wiki and also for those of us who'd prefer a more open environment for information. Since he has already pledged not to do it, hopefully a formal warning not to do it again will be enough, but I'm just a grunt around here so that's just my 2 cents. Cattlesquat (talk) 14:01, June 15, 2013 (UTC)

I've dealt with this situation and I did not issue a ban, but it was hard to do so. Lancer1289 (talk) 14:59, June 15, 2013 (UTC)

That was seriously egregious behaviour, but I think you did the right thing, Lancer. Trandra (talk) 16:50, June 15, 2013 (UTC)

Skal!

Thank you for taking the time out to answer me! I figured it hadn't been done through the horrible horrible theme designer provided to us by Wikia. That code should be helpful, though, and I'll start experimenting with it on my designer wiki. Thanks again. GarouxBloodline

Trandra - could you please confirm

Trandra - I know you are away but could you please check the discussion here Forum:Trailers_page#Discussion. It appeared to me and DeldiRe that you gave him permission and encouragement to upload some official trailer videos on a trial basis pending a project vote (and also mentioned that official videos are apparently allowed under the existing policy anyway). Could you please check in and confirm your involvement in that? Cattlesquat (talk) 21:38, June 17, 2013 (UTC)

Shepard appearances

I do not remember that Shepard appeared in ME: Homeworlds or even in ME: Conviction. However, shouldn't we add that he/she is present during the event of redemption ? At least his body, and especially in the last picture where Cerberus' doctors are trying to recover him/her.--DeldiRe 14:07, June 20, 2013 (UTC)

I haven't read (most of) the comics. I think you ought to talk to Commdor, since he actually has. However, I do know for sure that Shepard appears in the last panel of Conviction, because I have read that. Trandra (talk) 14:36, June 20, 2013 (UTC)

Shepard also appear in Garrus' section of Mass Effect: Homeworlds with is set when he is defending himself from the gangs on Omega. Like in Conviction he/she only appears in the final panel. Also, I think we should add the Mass Effect Library Edition to the Comic tab, It's a compilation of all the comics from Redemption to Homeworlds. --Hellfire101 (talk) 17:30, June 20, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, Hellfire, I didn't even know about the Library edition! It deserves its own page, even if it is just a collection, similar to the Trilogy having its own page. Trandra (talk) 19:55, June 20, 2013 (UTC)
good article btw Trandra.--DeldiRe 09:08, June 21, 2013 (UTC)

Many thanks for adding the Library Edition page, much love! --Hellfire101 (talk) 10:36, June 22, 2013 (UTC)

N7 HQ

Hi Trandra,

I was able to extract some pictures from the website such as N7HQ Icon Garvug but I'm so noob that I can't extract the pictures of the missions as you did :(. Could you help for that (extract or explanation) ?

Could you also have a look to my sandbox page N7 HQ to check the layout (especially for the mini game because I want to also implement it on Mass Effect: Datapad page) and also to make a quality check of my spelling and my grammar. Feel free to edit ;).

Thanks in advance. --DeldiRe 14:34, June 26, 2013 (UTC)

my turn to cross-post :p. @trandra: nice save, completely washing my hands off this :3. @deldire: can't really help with what you're doing, given my disinterest with ME3's online features in general. although i'm quite puzzled (again) with what you're trying to accomplish. it looks like the page can be stripped further down to essentials since most everything is already covered elsewhere (it -is- an article about a website that tracks or enhances gameplay stuff that can readily be seen ingame by actually playing, that's to be expected). the one thing that looks unique to this, the datapad replacement, even looks like it can be merged with the datapad article itself (along the lines of "the following stats pictures etc are from the N7HQ browser version of datapad etc etc"). there may be not enough material left to justify an article if pared down to basics or merged with the relevant articles.
it needs more differentiation from ingame shit, justification for lengthening the page and keeping it noteworthy. for example, commdor added codex entries from N7HQ because those were (until recently) cut content from ME2. as this is your project, it's up to you to research on what else can be found on N7HQ that can't be seen elsewhere. and as this is hardly the right page to discuss this (yeah trandra sorry bout that) i think i'll shut up now. T̴̴͕̲̞̳̖̼̱͒͛̎͒ͫ̃ͧeͩ̈̽̈҉͓̝̰̼̦̫̤̀͠m̫̪̪̯̻͎̫̅̇̓̇͌̚p̸̙̝̓̓͌ͨ͆ͣͥ̂̕o͒̽͐̽͏̞̬̻͕͔͕͚̰͍͠͞ṙ̢̞͚͈̹̰ͨ̓ͭ̈́̌ạ̢̧̪̹̺̺̣̹̲͂͆̏ͪͨ͒ͭř̹͈͜͠y̷͍̻̜̹̼̾̽̈́e̵̹̼̟̦͚͐̈́͌͘d͉̲̣̻͉̱͗̅ḭ̷̻̆͋̆̓̔͝t̨͍̦̫̗͂̅̍̋̆ͩ͝ộ̫̟̬̳̝̲̾ͫ̒̿ͮ̑̚rͯ̎ͨͭ̄̿̽͛҉̠̫̱̠̘̘̲́ͅ7̩̻ͤͩͨ͝͡8̜̣̙͇̻ͨ͛͛̆͒̆̽̒͐͜͡ ͥ̍̉̃̇ͥ̓ͨ͏̕҉̥̹͓̗̤̠̖̤ (talk) 19:15, June 26, 2013 (UTC)
What Temp said. I think you should focus on doing an overhaul of the ME3: Datapad page, NOT a summary of the N7HQ, because the content of the latter will be a poor, repetitive summary of information that is better fleshed out elsewhere (i.e. ME3: Datapad, multiplayer challenges, multiplayer classes).
I'm uploading the new background images for the other Datapad locations now. Trandra (talk) 19:45, June 26, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the pictures Trandra.

Sure that it is already covered elsewhere but it is the same as for the article over Datapad. An app or a website related to the game is quite the same thing. no? However I'm looking for a way to merge N7 HQ and datapad but I can't find it. Thoughts?--DeldiRe 22:47, June 26, 2013 (UTC)

Hi again Trandra, I still have issues to extract some of the pictures on the N7 HQ website. Could you give me some advice to get those hidded pictures ? Even with the source code. For example how did you extract the picture of the missions, I wansn't able to find them even if i found the icons. Thanks in advance. --DeldiRe 14:54, July 3, 2013 (UTC)

Could you please explain which pictures you need? I've already uploaded all the mission pictures. You can check my uploads here. Trandra (talk) 15:18, July 3, 2013 (UTC)
Indeed, I was a bit unclear in my explanation. In fact I try to get those five icons :

. Could you help or better give me an explanation to do that by myself. I do like to improve my computer "skills". Thanks! --DeldiRe 08:21, July 4, 2013 (UTC)

Clean-up nomination

Hi Trandra,
I feel a bit nooby for bringing this up, but to put it simply: I'd like to initiate linguistic clean-up operations for certain guide articles. The ones I've personally been dealing with the most, like the Infiltrator and Sentinel Guides, seem rather poorly written to me. Or, perhaps better put, with a higher degree of subjective stuff that people keep adding from playing experience, guides seem more liable to end up clumsy, incoherent, and therefore unclear as a whole.

Essentially, I feel the guides deserve better, and I'm willing to work on that. There are currently a few other guides (mostly for ME3) nominated for clean-up as well--is this the best way to start a project of this sort? Should the articles themselves then be tackled little by little, so others are aware of the revisions and can contribute? Maybe mention it on corresponding talk pages? Elseweyr (talk) 15:27, July 21, 2013 (UTC)

You can put the {{Cleanup}} template on them. It's not going to help terribly much since you're one of the very few actually doing clean-up right now. The guides being a mess is the typical result of a wiki--with multiple editors, the voice is not clear. Trandra (talk) 13:20, July 22, 2013 (UTC)
I suggest you to create sandbox of the pages that you want to clean and when the page is ready, you can implement it. Good luck with that ;) --DeldiRe 15:34, July 22, 2013 (UTC)
I see. Don't know about Sandbox pages, I'm hardly a wiki expert yet, and I'm not looking to revise the content as much as the text. Who would need to approve the implementation of a new page, an admin? Elseweyr (talk) 15:55, July 22, 2013 (UTC)
A sandbox is a page in your own user space, e.g. at User:Elseweyr/Sandbox/Sentinel_Guide or somewhere like that. Ycould conceivably even start a Projects Forum entry and link to some sandboxes that you make (suggest making a few sandboxes first). If there was a centralized place to "follow the march of progress" it might be easier for semi-lurkers like me to help, or at least offer notes and/or support. Having a place to receive support also of course helps demonstrate consensus and hold back the reflexive reverts. Approval ultimately by community consensus as usual, but having an admin sponsor/supporter helps buckets... Cattlesquat (talk) 16:02, July 22, 2013 (UTC)
Oh and if you do that you may or may not want to grant folks (either specifically or generally) permission to edit the sandbox articles to contribute. Since by policy we can't edit articles in your sandbox without your permission. Cattlesquat (talk) 16:03, July 22, 2013 (UTC)
Yes, I expressed myself poorly--I do know what Sandbox pages are, but I'm unfamiliar with exactly how people tend to work with them, and wasn't sure whether I should create them. (Your reply helped.) Most guides are not cataclysmically bad, bud I guess it wouldn't hurt to create Sandbox pages anyway. I'm going to have to familiarize myself with the forums as well, in that case.
And what about abysmally bad walkthrough sections of otherwise good articles? I've noticed that not strictly essential text reformulations tend to get reverted more readily, even if the revised versions were better. Elseweyr (talk) 16:45, July 22, 2013 (UTC)
Revert challenges of course are not unique to this wiki, they're just a fact of wiki life. So far the most successful solutions I've found are (1) talking to the reverter on their page if they're a known/regular user (see if you can explain/agree on the value of the overall direction you're heading with things; when it works they become an ally or at least stay out of your way) (2) talk page discussions on the page (get community consensus before or after the fact), (3) Projects Forum for larger overarching projects (get consensus in advance for a bigger change or series of related small changes). Cattlesquat (talk) 17:09, July 22, 2013 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Yep, just listen to what Cattlesquat is saying. I don't think you need to do a Sandbox for clean-ups, though. TE78 has been reverting things without looking at individual changes a lot, so just bring it up for appeal on the talk page or something. Trandra (talk) 17:18, July 22, 2013 (UTC)

derp. i do look at them. 80% of the time legit reverts. 9% is me reverting myself, 1% for the truly accidental times, the remainder falls under "10% legit 90% sloppy/invalid". wrote a lengthy explanation, discarded it with a simpler message: "time is credits".T̴̴͕̲̞̳̖̼̱͒͛̎͒ͫ̃ͧeͩ̈̽̈҉͓̝̰̼̦̫̤̀͠m̫̪̪̯̻͎̫̅̇̓̇͌̚p̸̙̝̓̓͌ͨ͆ͣͥ̂̕o͒̽͐̽͏̞̬̻͕͔͕͚̰͍͠͞ṙ̢̞͚͈̹̰ͨ̓ͭ̈́̌ạ̢̧̪̹̺̺̣̹̲͂͆̏ͪͨ͒ͭř̹͈͜͠y̷͍̻̜̹̼̾̽̈́e̵̹̼̟̦͚͐̈́͌͘d͉̲̣̻͉̱͗̅ḭ̷̻̆͋̆̓̔͝t̨͍̦̫̗͂̅̍̋̆ͩ͝ộ̫̟̬̳̝̲̾ͫ̒̿ͮ̑̚rͯ̎ͨͭ̄̿̽͛҉̠̫̱̠̘̘̲́ͅ7̩̻ͤͩͨ͝͡8̜̣̙͇̻ͨ͛͛̆͒̆̽̒͐͜͡ ͥ̍̉̃̇ͥ̓ͨ͏̕҉̥̹͓̗̤̠̖̤ (talk) 22:13, July 22, 2013 (UTC)

Small hiccup in translation.

In the trivia section of Thane Krios' page, where it is possible that his name is derived from Thanatos, "the Greek god of death", just a small hiccup there that most people wouldn't catch. Thanatos is the male personification of death, and is a name, just not the name of a god. Just a random thought, and if you have read this far thank you and sorry for bothering you. Hope you have a good day/night.

Cut romances

They all come from "Lair of the Shadow Broker". This one is for Miranda: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJaUQ-M5CxU Jack: www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4Khz4KIn20 Tali: www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BksTbUqFys

However it doesn't really make sense, since the DLC was released months after the game. Is it possible that they intended to have it in the main game back when Miranda, Jack and Tali were goin to be bisexual romances but then they decided to "polish" it (or whatever) and so it was delayed? I'm not sure if it makes sense but it's a theory. --JordanaBrewsterFAN 16:04, August 25, 2013 (UTC)

Or equally likely they just piled the stuff into the download as fun stuff for fans to fine. When you've got content that might be interesting to fans, there is definitely a reason to plop it out for their benefit, and sometimes just hurling it in as an easter egg style thing is the most efficient way to do it. Cattlesquat (talk) 16:50, August 25, 2013 (UTC)
There's all sorts of artifacts in DLCs usually because developers tend cut the content without excising the data. Or it could be an Easter Egg thing, as Cattlesquat said. Who knows? All we know right now is that they had Jennifer Hale and Mark Meer record the lines, but they didn't use them. Trandra (talk) 18:11, August 25, 2013 (UTC)
To bad, I would have really like for Tali and Thane to go both "left" and "right". --JordanaBrewsterFAN 18:28, August 25, 2013 (UTC)

Combat Engineer Exploit.

Combat Engineers have an AI problem (exploit), if you go into a multiplayer match, go to the edge of any high cover and put the camera dead ahead the AI for the Engineer (ME3) will aim for the floor rather than aim for the person in question. Check this out and when we have multiple people confirm this, only then may I consider putting it up on the wikia. JouninOfDespair 12:56, September 9, 2013 (UTC)

Interesting. Could you maybe get some people to record it and put it on Youtube? I can't play ME3MP right now because I don't have an Xbox at the moment. Does this happen all the time? Because I know with the last enemy in a wave, the AI behavior goes all weird. Trandra (talk) 13:34, September 9, 2013 (UTC)

Its funny you should say that. I do have PHYSICAL evidence (with strong language unfortunately) on youtube right now. But that would mean showing my mugshot. I don't know if I can get others to record this, but I have the evidence showing me both exiting and the engineer shooting me, and the engineer then shooting the stair when you sit at the edge of any cover with the camera pointing straight. (It starts roughly 42 seconds in). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pE2EkGRxe5Q - The link. Feel free to criticise my ugly mug :> JouninOfDespair 20:12, September 10, 2013 (UTC)

PS: And you can get this to happen as often as humanly possible if you get bored THAT quickly on any difficulty :P. Just leave an engineer without a turret, make sure your the nearest target, stand at the edge of a box, a pilar or W/E, and laugh to your hearts content JouninOfDespair 20:17, September 10, 2013 (UTC)

Like I said, I think it's not specific to the Combat Engineer but happening because he's the last enemy in the wave. Here's the same thing happening with a few geth enemies and a Marauder. Not sure how/where to note this in the multiplayer pages, as there's no general hints area. Trandra (talk) 20:24, September 10, 2013 (UTC)

I have to correct you there, it will happen regardless of enemies. My friend (if he had an account here) would vouch for me as he's seen me do this half a dozen times. Its not a factor of "last enemy" its a flaw in the AI. JouninOfDespair 21:38, September 10, 2013 (UTC)

So this is just the Combat Engineer? Any others? We do still need confirmation though. You play on Xbox; it'd probably be easier for people on PC to get more confirmation (and/or recorded play). By the way, no criticism from me of your looks because that is mean. Haha. Trandra (talk) 17:14, September 11, 2013 (UTC)

You CAN do it with Marauders, but they melee you out of cover so they may kill if you don't have a high enough shield recharge speed (as do geth troopers), Assault Troopers I'd strongly say yes because their melee doesn't knock you out of cover. JouninOfDespair 08:56, September 12, 2013 (UTC)

It sounds like it's just an AI issue in general, rather than a specific problem with the Combat Engineer. I suppose the CE is unique in that he doesn't have a melee attack so it makes the bad AI that much more obvious. Trandra (talk) 15:14, September 22, 2013 (UTC)

race category

I have an idea about three races in the non-citadel category. I believe the Raloi, virtual aliens and the Yahg shouldn't be considered part of that section. Reasons to back up my assumption are both the Raloi and virtual aliens aren't even known to most ME users because they were created for the Cerberus Daily News page. The Yahg on the other hand we known more about but they aren't even a space-faring race yet, only that they were considered for uprising like the Krogan were. My sugestion is your people put these races in a new category such as "Miscellaneous Races" or "Other Races". --SEDA13579 (talk) 20:55, September 21, 2013 (UTC)

I don't really see any reason to change it. If you'd like other users to weigh in, I'd suggest putting in a proposal on the Projects forum. Trandra (talk) 15:11, September 22, 2013 (UTC)
I would oppose as well. CDN is considered canon and should be included short of a policy vote to specifically remove the canonocity of CDN (which would, by extension, have to include ADN and Twitters). Also, with regard to the raloi in particular, they are actually mentioned in-game in ME3. For the yahg, I would say continue to stick with sapient, non-Citadel races. Using space-faring ability as a criterion runs into the problems of if asking do uplifted races count? Would the vorcha count as they don't really have their own FTL (see the trivia on that page). Total tangent, but is there a handy reference somewhere around here for which things are and/or aren't canon? Cattlesquat (talk) 20:04, September 22, 2013 (UTC)
Maybe the manual of style. TheUnknown285 (talk) 20:28, September 22, 2013 (UTC)
The MoS' information about canon only pertains to the wiki's perspective in terms of 'correct storyline' rather than what is valid lore on a more general scale. I'd also like to know about this. Elseweyr (talk) 20:53, September 22, 2013 (UTC)

When are the Raloi mentioned in the game. I've never heard anyone talk about them.--SEDA13579 (talk) 01:16, September 23, 2013 (UTC)

They are mentioned in a news report near the beginning of ME3. It's the last item listed in the stories heard after gaining access to the Spectre Office.
As for canon/non-canon, anything in-game that is reachable through normal means is canon. That much is obvious. The rest is based on assumptions drawn from the guidelines about developer-confirmation. So anything from the official websites, blogs, and Twitter feeds; said by a developer in a public forum, etc. If it isn't obvious or already stated somewhere in the guidelines, then I suppose I could draw up some wording for clarification. The original message wasn't about Zaeed, but I kind of had his cut dialogue in mind as well: it's probably extremely rare, but devconfirmation could validate accidentally cut content, no? Or would the wiki treat it as non-canon, regardless? Elseweyr (talk) 04:52, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
see here for precedent on reintegrating cut content. as for devconfirmation, we'll need something that explicitly says "oh we accidentally left x out of the game, treat it as canon" rather than something that says "oh we accidentally left x out of the game, now let's talk about other things."T̴̴͕̲̞̳̖̼̱͒͛̎͒ͫ̃ͧeͩ̈̽̈҉͓̝̰̼̦̫̤̀͠m̫̪̪̯̻͎̫̅̇̓̇͌̚p̸̙̝̓̓͌ͨ͆ͣͥ̂̕o͒̽͐̽͏̞̬̻͕͔͕͚̰͍͠͞ṙ̢̞͚͈̹̰ͨ̓ͭ̈́̌ạ̢̧̪̹̺̺̣̹̲͂͆̏ͪͨ͒ͭř̹͈͜͠y̷͍̻̜̹̼̾̽̈́e̵̹̼̟̦͚͐̈́͌͘d͉̲̣̻͉̱͗̅ḭ̷̻̆͋̆̓̔͝t̨͍̦̫̗͂̅̍̋̆ͩ͝ộ̫̟̬̳̝̲̾ͫ̒̿ͮ̑̚rͯ̎ͨͭ̄̿̽͛҉̠̫̱̠̘̘̲́ͅ7̩̻ͤͩͨ͝͡8̜̣̙͇̻ͨ͛͛̆͒̆̽̒͐͜͡ ͥ̍̉̃̇ͥ̓ͨ͏̕҉̥̹͓̗̤̠̖̤ (talk) 05:05, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
Exactly what I meant; thanks. Elseweyr (talk) 05:10, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
Slightly off the original topic, but regarding the discussion of canon - where do we lie on works that directly conflict with established canon - the two most prominient being Deception and Paragon Lost? Garhdo (talk) 17:47, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
My knowledge is limited, but Deception lore comes with a nice disclaimer in relevant articles, eg. Gillian Grayson (see this), and generally games > other media where discrepancies occur. Elseweyr (talk) 18:16, September 23, 2013 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I'd say there are priorities to what is considered canon first. Games, books and comics from the staff writers, statements from BioWare devs themselves, then third-party licensed stuff (Paragon Lost, mobile games). Deception was pretty much disowned by the developers after the fan outcry, so I wouldn't really consider it canon. Trandra (talk) 18:25, September 23, 2013 (UTC)

fair enough. I'm wondering if we need to come up with some sort of canon-criteria in a similar way to Wookiepedia, although I personally would hate to do so....Garhdo (talk) 18:31, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
