Who gets the pictures again?

For the MP characters and guns, I mean...--TW6464 (talk) 16:34, February 26, 2013 (UTC)

There hasn't been any one person who regularly handles them. It's still pretty early after the DLC's release, I'm sure the images will be uploaded over the next few days, if not today. -- Commdor (Talk) 16:50, February 26, 2013 (UTC)

Question about MP challenges

Is there any achievement in MP challenges about new DLC Reckoning? Previous DLC like this have such achievements, I mean Resurgence Mastery, Rebellion Mastery, Earth Mastery, Retaliation Mastery. Some weapons are associated with salarians, quarians, geth and blood pack, are they added to old challanges like Commando Mastery, Mashine Mastery or Bloodpack Mastery? Just questions made from my curiocity. 23:44, February 26, 2013 (UTC)

There might be new multiplayer Challenges for the Reckoning weapons and characters, but I haven't checked. -- Commdor (Talk) 02:21, February 27, 2013 (UTC)
There are indeed. Punisher is Reckoning Mastery. Lksdjf (talk) 03:16, February 27, 2013 (UTC)
I checked already, shame Reckoning Mastery doesn't count as part of Mass Effect Mastery, I hoped it can be a substitute for Solo Mastery (I suck on this), I also hoped Venom will be a part of Commando Mastery, because it's easier than playing 20 times by same character for 200 waves. 06:25, February 27, 2013 (UTC)

Hey, just to let you know I have replied to your e-mail. Sorry it took awhile. TheUnknown285 (talk) 17:43, February 27, 2013 (UTC)

Reverts on biotic focus, poison strike, elite mercenary and omni-bow mastery

You clearly have no idea how calculations work or even tried looking at the screens. I set the values to the base cooldowns and you reverted them? I can see why people laugh at ME wiki when it comes to stat accuracy.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk · contr).

Your edits (I assume they were yours, although they were made under a different IP address) were poorly formatted and removed some content. Since you didn't explain in the edit summaries what your edits were intended to do and I had no reason to believe the previous versions were incorrect, I reverted the changes. Feel free to re-add your edits if they are correct, but please make sure you leave the descriptor words ("seconds", etc.) intact. -- Commdor (Talk) 07:39, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

I suggest that you look at the manual of style in which I followed I also clearly remember another admin saying to not add anything which is not displayed in the power screens in game, which in the case for Poison Strike, there is no "seconds" value listed for poison duration. Ironically that is something added without any source and is based on presumed values. I'm not going to bother making the edits again in case some other admin reverts it again or says that there is no source for these data.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk · contr).

You're right, those terms are not called for by the MoS. I stand corrected, and I apologize for any inconvenience my caution may have caused. I would re-add your edits myself, but I'd have to check your info against the game (since I would be the person effectively making these changes, I would have to be able to back them up on my own if need be), and I won't have a chance to do that until much later. Again, if you can vouch that the info in your edits is correct, you're more than welcome to re-add them. -- Commdor (Talk) 09:01, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

I can say for certain that the base cooldown for Biotic Focus is correct, that most of your values were wrong for Omni-Bow Mastery, that you are right for the charge generation of Elite Mercenary, and that POison Strike's values are correct. However, for Poison Strike, all there is is a number. Let's hike that number up from seconds to minutes. Does that seem reasonable? What would need that much poison damage to kill? How about hiking it down from seconds to deciseconds, or centiseconds? That makes no sense, right? It's downright useless at that point. Seconds becomes the logical unit of measure, especially given that every other duration value in the game is in the unit of seconds. Lksdjf (talk) 09:08, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

My omni-bow mastery values were wrong? Don't make me laugh. You better double check your data. For poison strike poison duration, logical deductions have no place in here, only proof. 10:34, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

I just corrected the values, and you did indeed add Durability values wrong. The maximum is 65%. I'm surprised that you missed the error in Fitness Expert as well. As for Poison Strike, you're welcome to take off the seconds, but remember that this is for other people to read, not for us to be prissy about exact rules. Rules are bent all the time when the developers miss things, and they can be amended when the need arises.

Also, a joke for his/her royal majesty: A horse walks into a bar. The bartender asks, "Why the long face?"

Seriously though, you don't seem like a pleasant kind of person.Lksdjf (talk) 10:59, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

I feel that I should apologise for the spiteful comments that were made in the preceding conversations. I was initially frustrated that my edits were reverted for seemingly no explanation and then took advantage of being anonymous to vent it. You and Commdor have been remarkably accommodating. Again, sorry for all that. Corlist (talk) 11:15, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

I know I haven't been on as much lately, but I can't seem to stay logged in for any protracted period of time and any time I exit my browser, it logs me out and it takes a lot of time to get back logged in. I'm sending an email to Wikia about it, but I can't seem to resolve this issue. Lancer1289 (talk) 01:00, March 5, 2013 (UTC)

No problem. Hope you get that issue fixed soon, we got to hit the trail hard tomorrow to cover the Citadel DLC. -- Commdor (Talk) 02:31, March 5, 2013 (UTC)

I should be writing

Well, it seems that fate, or rather Mother Nature had intervened. My college was closed today due to the 5-9+ inches of snow that is expected to fall on the Chicagoland area. It wasn't snowing this morning, but right now, it is coming down at about an inch an hour. I will need to step out in about 3 hours for an hour to do some snowblowing.

I should be starting to write the walkthrough in an hour as I need to eat lunch and I need to download the 4 GB pack. I should have it up by this evening. Lancer1289 (talk) 18:01, March 5, 2013 (UTC)

Armax Combat Arena

Just checking but is that page supposed to simply redirect to the DLC page? Should there not be info on that location? Hefe (talk) 20:30, March 5, 2013 (UTC)

It's a redirect until we get more information (which should be soon). It can be converted to a full article if all of the information on it can't be covered in the Silversun Strip article. -- Commdor (Talk) 20:32, March 5, 2013 (UTC)

Mass Relays Proposal

Hey, when you get a minute, could you take another look at my proposal to reorganize and add to the mass relays list? I've made updates to both the list and the proposal. I'd like to see if you had anymore suggestions before I put it to a vote. Also, is there a way to strike-through text? I'd like to strike-through the old version of the proposal. Thanks. TheUnknown285 (talk) 22:51, March 7, 2013 (UTC)

Just bumping this for your attention. I know there's a lot going on right now, so you've no doubt missed it in the shuffle. TheUnknown285 (talk) 17:33, March 10, 2013 (UTC)

Chat mod position.

I had some questions about the position I have just been given - namely if there are any extra wikia controls I can now use, for example to kick a person from chat, drop a warning message on their talk page, etc. Just that if there are I would need to know how to use them.

And thanks again for giving me the position. Garhdo (talk) 09:43, March 8, 2013 (UTC)

I recommend asking Legionwrex for more details, he's got more experience with Chat than me (I've never had occasion to kick or block someone from Chat). As far as I know, you can kick and ban users from Chat while using the Chat! Live feature, the options should appear as links associated with individual users. You can also ban a user for Chat on the wiki itself by going to that user's Contributions page and selecting the "Ban from chat" link at the top of the page. -- Commdor (Talk) 17:43, March 8, 2013 (UTC)

uploading female versions of the cerberus armax armors for display instead of the usual male ones. because, well, it kinda fits with what first comes to mind when the word "phantom" in a mass effect context is used (kai leng's upgrades come at a distant second and "phantom" does certainly come up in the armors' descriptions). not to mention we could certainly use some more curves. (Edit conflict) All of the current armor pictures are of male Shepard. Frankly, we should redo the armor pages to show both male and female versions (maybe something rotating, like the <gallery type="slideshow"> tag), but I'd have to learn some JavaScript. :P Trandra (talk) 17:51, March 8, 2013 (UTC)
Oh, okay. That'll take some doing, I expect, but I wouldn't be opposed to it. The question is how wide to make the scope: are we going to need female Shepard images for all armor sets in ME3? And armor parts? And sets and parts in ME2? And possibly even for the ME armors? This could be a project of non-negligible size. -- Commdor (Talk) 18:02, March 8, 2013 (UTC)
currently scavenging other wikis for ideas to steal, saw something on the bleach wiki that might warrant some scrutiny. visual result is that you have a pre-timeskip pic of kenpachi and a post-timeskip one. the source codes are right there in the preformatted sections, the only thing that needed doing is probably "redesigning" to conform to the MEwiki look.
as to the scope, it's easy enough to obtain everything from ME2/ME3 since they share mostly the same display aesthetics (front-back although if needed be we can add SIDES). ME classic armor pages probably can wait, we have examples of male and female armors there (though frontals only, no back views). T̴̴͕̲̞̳̖̼̱͒͛̎͒ͫ̃ͧeͩ̈̽̈҉͓̝̰̼̦̫̤̀͠m̫̪̪̯̻͎̫̅̇̓̇͌̚p̸̙̝̓̓͌ͨ͆ͣͥ̂̕o͒̽͐̽͏̞̬̻͕͔͕͚̰͍͠͞ṙ̢̞͚͈̹̰ͨ̓ͭ̈́̌ạ̢̧̪̹̺̺̣̹̲͂͆̏ͪͨ͒ͭř̹͈͜͠y̷͍̻̜̹̼̾̽̈́e̵̹̼̟̦͚͐̈́͌͘d͉̲̣̻͉̱͗̅ḭ̷̻̆͋̆̓̔͝t̨͍̦̫̗͂̅̍̋̆ͩ͝ộ̫̟̬̳̝̲̾ͫ̒̿ͮ̑̚rͯ̎ͨͭ̄̿̽͛҉̠̫̱̠̘̘̲́ͅ7̩̻ͤͩͨ͝͡8̜̣̙͇̻ͨ͛͛̆͒̆̽̒͐͜͡ ͥ̍̉̃̇ͥ̓ͨ͏̕҉̥̹͓̗̤̠̖̤ (talk) 18:24, March 8, 2013 (UTC)
Interesting...that JS for "Toggle" could conceivably be used for the images and re-purposed for spoilers, like on the DA Wiki (if the community agreed on it). I'd still have to learn a little JS, but having something existing would make it easier. Trandra (talk) 23:13, March 8, 2013 (UTC)
Except that there are plenty of reasons why it has been brought up and rejected in the past. The first just being accessibility. I am sick and tired of going to the DA wiki and having to click 15 times to get all of the information in the article. It is frustrating to say the least. Not to mention that numerous users have been opposed to it in the past for the same reasons. We have spoiler tags for a reason. Lancer1289 (talk) 00:44, March 9, 2013 (UTC)

Should the romance aspects of the DLC be mentioned solely in the Romance section of the characters or mentioned solely in the ME3: Citadel section or both? As Garhdo removed the romance aspects of the DLC to the Romance section for Garrus. I just wanted to double check with you if that's ok.Typhoonstorm95 (talk) 01:10, March 9, 2013 (UTC)

Any content that's only accessible through the DLC should be noted in the relevant DLC sections. So here, any romance moments in ME3: Citadel belong under the ME3: Citadel section, not the Romance section (which is reserved for romance content encountered in the base game). -- Commdor (Talk) 01:13, March 9, 2013 (UTC)

Alright, thanks Commdor for answering my question. I thought that would be the answer, but I wanted to make sure.Typhoonstorm95 (talk) 01:19, March 9, 2013 (UTC)

didn't realise that, my bad. Although Commdor I do have to wonder if the romance content added from Citadel should be within the Romance section, just as Liara's content from Shadow Broker is in hers? Garhdo (talk) 04:48, March 9, 2013 (UTC)
Liara's LotSB romance content is placed under a second Romance subsection of the Mass Effect 2 section of her article (the first Romance subsection covers her base game romance interactions for ME2). Depending on the volume of content we end up adding to the relevant character articles from ME3: Citadel, we may or may not decide to do the same thing for those characters. -- Commdor (Talk) 05:17, March 9, 2013 (UTC)
Ok I think it might be an idea once we get all the content up. Garhdo (talk) 05:32, March 9, 2013 (UTC)

Inoffensive name to avoid spam filter...

When you get a chance (or Lancer, for that matter), if you could please do the color-change-thingy (you know this nonsense isn't my strong suit) to reflect Trandra's promotion to admin. And we do have one for CMs, right? If so, I think the new CMs need updated too. Already done. :) Trandra (talk) 19:49, March 11, 2013 (UTC)
And you fixed the CM color-change-thingy too, many thanks. I thought it wasn't working because of extreme update lag, but it was commas all along. -- Commdor (Talk) 19:57, March 11, 2013 (UTC)
Those commas...will you get you every time. (Or not.) There was some update lag, as my name didn't change until I added the commas to the CMs, and theirs didn't change until ~30 minutes ago, even with purging and cache-clearing. Trandra (talk) 20:06, March 11, 2013 (UTC)
Sorry for butting in but I saw this and now I'm curious - color-change-thing? Garhdo (talk) 20:08, March 11, 2013 (UTC)
On the Recent Changes page, users with special statuses (Chat Mod and so on) show up with specially-colored links so they can be easily identified. Every time we promote a user, we also have to manually edit the site's code-stuff to apply the color marker to that user. -- Commdor (Talk) 20:16, March 11, 2013 (UTC)

ah ok cool. I normally just use the Wiki Activity page,so I've never noticed anything like that. Garhdo (talk) 20:24, March 11, 2013 (UTC)

Infobox Help

Hi there. As SpartHawg advised, I've come to ask you for help.

I've been trying to edit the info box on prisoner in Purgatory, as they DO have shields on insanity (proof pic thrown onto the respective talk page), but I was not able to find where those fancy colour-filled bars are added. :) Or should it just be reflected in the article and the box got to be left with health bar only?

VagabonD SerpenT (talk) 15:33, March 13, 2013 (UTC)

I've updated the article with your info. The infobox is supposed to reflect enemy traits on Normal difficulty, so that can't be updated to show shields, but we can state that the enemy develops shields on Insanity difficulty in the Tactics section. -- Commdor (Talk) 18:26, March 13, 2013 (UTC)
Okay, thank you. I was just making comparsion to a Blue Suns or Eclipse soldier pages, where they also say that Shields appear on top difficulties, but infobox shows them anyway. :) I've no idea myself, to be honest, I was rejoiced to see that I can play ME2 on Insanity from start :P VagabonD SerpenT (talk) 18:29, March 13, 2013 (UTC)
Commdor, is that true, though? Husks are shown with armor in their ME2 template (which they get on Hardcore and up). I didn't change it myself because it seemed that everyone else on the talk page was saying Prisoners don't have shields even on Insanity, and I wondered if I'd forgotten about some kind of shield generator thing on that mission. Trandra (talk) 19:38, March 13, 2013 (UTC)
The picture provided as proof seems like solid enough evidence. The alternative would be to remove the additions to the article, open a talk page discussion there, and wait until other users can verify that Prisoners have shields on Insanity.
Or are you asking if the enemy infoboxes are supposed to use info based on Normal difficulty? Now that I think about it, I'm not sure. I don't see why we would choose any difficulty other than Normal to pull the stats from ("Normal" is supposed to be the baseline ME experience, after all), but then my focus around the wiki is on the lore content, not gameplay, stats, or background mechanics. If there's ample precedence on other enemy articles for using the high difficulty stats for the infoboxes, then I've got no grounds to object. -- Commdor (Talk) 20:03, March 13, 2013 (UTC)
I think Trandra was talking bout the infoboxes stuff. As I've checked, each article about e.g. Husk, Eclipse Soldier, Blue Suns Soldier, Blood Pack Trooper (or how those vorcha are properly called) shows template with armour or shield, but the tactics says that the additional layer of defence shows up only on Hardcore at least. VagabonD SerpenT (talk) 20:07, March 13, 2013 (UTC)
Commdor addressed both of the things I was questioning. I've changed the infobox to reflect the highest difficulty, since all other infoboxes do. (Why they reflect the highest difficulty is a different question altogether.) The picture is proof enough; if anyone wants to dispute it, then we'll roll it back for discussion. Trandra (talk) 20:26, March 13, 2013 (UTC)

The name Shia is a name for a religious figure in drell mythology, it's use as a nickname does not preclude it form the list and therefore neither should the other names.--FossilLord 23:49, March 13, 2013 (UTC)

The other names aren't used to refer to anyone or describe anything other than the drell gods, though. They shouldn't be in the list for the same reason we would not put all other known drell names in the list. In contrast, "Siha" appears to double as both a name and a descriptive term/title, it has a meaning beyond just a name. -- Commdor (Talk) 23:56, March 13, 2013 (UTC)

Point of Order

I'm sort of disturbed by the idea that a policy can be "withdrawn by proposer" after it has already technically passed? I mean I realize that there's no actual revision of the policy language provided in the proposal, so maybe we kind of passed an effective nullity. Totally understand the overall situation, but it seems a bad precedent to mark the policy as rejected after it passed. Especially by an admin who voted against it. Marking it passed and essentially taking no action since there isn't any action to take might be more appropriate? Cattlesquat (talk) 18:52, March 15, 2013 (UTC)

Language policy revision

Hi I was wondering if you had more details on the withdrawal, as I don't remember withdrawing it? Instead I am drafting the policy based on the guidelines passed by the Community? Garhdo (talk) 19:01, March 15, 2013 (UTC)

What guidelines are you referring to? I closed the policy proposal as withdrawn because you were making significant changes to it after the voting period had concluded and had asked for the proposal to be closed. That renders to vote the null and void since the community was voting to implement the policy described on that page, not any other version located elsewhere. Any changes you make to a proposal have to be clearly delineated on the proposal page before the vote concludes, so that voters can understand what they're voting on and have the chance to change their votes if they agree or disagree with the changes. Since your proposal is still in the process of being written, a new vote has to be held on the final version. -- Commdor (Talk) 19:15, March 15, 2013 (UTC)
I asked for it closed as the time was up, not because I was withdrawing it. The policy outlined on the page was a description of what I planned to implement, I am now simply drafting it out in more appropriate language. Garhdo (talk) 19:18, March 15, 2013 (UTC)
I think you misunderstood the purpose of the policy forum. You're only supposed to post a finalized, complete version of your policy there; you can't put a vague outline to a vote and then fill it in later. The community has to be able to see the whole thing during the vote so they know exactly what they're voting on.
Think of it like this: if you voted in the U.S. presidential election, would you like it if your options were only "Democrat" and "Republican" and you didn't know exactly who the candidates were until after the election? -- Commdor (Talk) 19:28, March 15, 2013 (UTC)
Yes but what I am writing now covers all the points in the actual proposal. I was unable to edit the forum after voting started to make it more specific there, and so I am doing it now. If it requires a revote however then that is what will be done, and I would welcome your opinions on my draft. Garhdo (talk) 19:36, March 15, 2013 (UTC)
Unable to edit because you couldn't access the page or unable to edit because you thought you couldn't edit policy proposals on the fly during voting? I'm certain you can update proposals during voting because I've done it before. It's a big part of the process, it's how you address user complaints and suggestions from the discussion.
Since you're making your changes after voting concluded on the policy instead of during, I'm afraid you do have to submit a second proposal for the community to vote on. On the bright side, seeing as the community supported your previous effort, it's likely they will do so again and your policy will still be approved. -- Commdor (Talk) 22:24, March 15, 2013 (UTC)
Unable to edit that section of the page, hence my extraneous explanations in the discussions. But no worries. I'm hoping to have the new policy finalised and submitted for voting by the end of the weekend. As I said before I would welcome opinions on the draft from yourself, as well as any other admins, senior editors and chatmods. Garhdo (talk) 00:18, March 16, 2013 (UTC)

Bug Question

On the Skyllian Blitz article, it states in the trivia section "During a conversation with Joker, it is mentioned Shepard was present during the Skyllian Blitz, even if they were not awarded any special commendation, regardless of background." I added that this may be a bug, thinking that there may be dialogue from Joker that mentions Torfan or Akuze instead, dialogue that is being blocked for some reason. I now confirm that this is the case as there is dialogue by Joker about Torfan and Akuze (it's at the end of the video). So, do we still need the three confirmations to post this to the article or is it okay to go ahead? Thanks. TheUnknown285 (talk) 23:45, March 17, 2013 (UTC)

I didn't think it was relevant to the article, so I removed it. Shepard's stress levels during the Skyllian Blitz have little to do with the Blitz itself. Even if that mattered enough to stay, the fact that a single line of Joker's dialogue that refers to it in Mass Effect 3 may be bugged is even less relevant. The only place I can think of where this line and the bug would be appropriate to mention is Joker's Unique Dialogue article.
But first, are we sure that this is actually bugged? Has anyone tried to see if they can experience all three lines normally during playthroughs with Shepards of each background? -- Commdor (Talk) 00:20, March 18, 2013 (UTC)
Alright, I posted a request for confirmation on Joker's Unique Dialogue talk page. TheUnknown285 (talk) 18:26, March 19, 2013 (UTC)
I've now seen how the two lines work in that it's the line about the Skyllian Blitz followed by a background-specific line. I'm now far less certain if that's a bug or not. At any rate, I would argue that we should re-add the note on the Skyllian Blitz article saying that Shepard evidently took part in the Skyllian Blitz regardless of background. That to me seems pretty relevant (we already note that Shepard took part if he/she has the War Hero background. Thanks again. TheUnknown285 (talk) 17:45, March 27, 2013 (UTC)

Legion in the Geth subtypes.

Mr. Commdor,

I have seen you have previously removed my edit to the geth article that adds Legion to the subtypes listed on site. Can you specify why you have done so? The games have clearly mentioned that Legion is in fact a platform unique to the geth and thus deserves to be noted in the subtypes. So for what information does this need not be mentioned? 18:49, March 22, 2013 (UTC)

Upon closer examination, my revert of your edit was a little hasty. The lore does support the conclusion that Legion is a unique platform and thus a distinct geth subtype. I've re-added mention of Legion to the Subtypes section of the geth article. -- Commdor (Talk) 01:41, March 23, 2013 (UTC)

Mass Relay List Question

Hey, advice needed. I'm still working on the Relays List. One of the things I'm noting is which system each relay is in. For ME1, this is more difficult as the relays themselves don't show up in the systems. Plus, when you go to a new cluster, you don't directly to a gateway system; you go to the cluster map. So, unless the lore or subsequent games says which system it's in, I've been putting "Unknown" in the "System" field. However, what about clusters where we only see one system (like the Pangaea Expanse and and Sentry Omega). Do you think it's okay to assume that the single system is the gateway system (i.e., Refugee is the location of the Pangaea Expanse's relay and Hoc has Sentry Omega's relay)? Thanks. TheUnknown285 (talk) 18:45, March 27, 2013 (UTC)

I would say no, as that is an assumption. In ME, we could only go to the Century system in the Hawking Eta. In ME:2, the mass relay's location was actually in another system. Of course, it's up for Commdor to decide.Typhoonstorm95 (talk) 19:52, March 27, 2013 (UTC)
For the record, I'm inclined to agree with you, but I'm going to throw it out there to see what others think. TheUnknown285 (talk) 20:07, March 27, 2013 (UTC)

For ME-exclusive clusters that don't indicate which system contains the mass relay(s), stating the system is "Unknown" is acceptable.
For ME-exclusive clusters that only have one accessible system, I'm actually inclined to allow assumptions that the sole known system of that cluster is the gateway system, at least for the purposes of this list. I think those are reasonable assumptions to make given the info we have. If we learn from future ME media that a system is not the gateway system for its cluster, we can revise the list accordingly. -- Commdor (Talk) 20:55, March 27, 2013 (UTC)

Alright, I'll add that to the list. TheUnknown285 (talk) 21:46, March 27, 2013 (UTC)

Hey, yet another question. It has just been pointed out to me that the codex entry for the planet Corang says that there is a relay in the Century System in Hawking Eta. The thing is, according to ME2, Hawking Eta's relay is in the Chandrasekhar System while no relay is shown in the Century System nor do we list there being a relay in that system. I'm thinking this is an error (for what it's worth, Century was the only system we saw in ME). If it's not, then that means that Hawking Eta has two relays (three if you count the Mu Relay). So, my question is: would you have a problem in updating the relevant pages (e.g., Century, Chandrasekhar, Hawking Eta, Corang, etc.) to note this? Specifically, I mean adding trivia notes as well as adding a header for a relay in Century? Thanks. TheUnknown285 (talk) 23:24, March 29, 2013 (UTC)

Most likely an error. Looks to me like the mass relay was moved from the Century system to Chandrasekhar during ME2's development and Corang's description was never corrected. Since there's no mass relay shown in the Century system in ME2 despite Corang's description, we ignore the description and go with what is actually shown in the game (i.e. that the relay is in Chandrasekhar). -- Commdor (Talk) 00:43, March 30, 2013 (UTC)
So what about adding trivia notes to those pages I mentioned? Thanks. TheUnknown285 (talk) 16:41, April 7, 2013 (UTC)
I've added a blurb to Corang, since its description is really what's causing the confusion. -- Commdor (Talk) 20:04, April 7, 2013 (UTC)
Alright. I took the liberty of altering it a little bit. Thanks. TheUnknown285 (talk) 20:08, April 7, 2013 (UTC)

Alright, this should hopefully be the last question (*knock on wood*). The list is pretty much done, barring some proofreading and any additional relays mentioned in codex entries, etc. that I missed. I'm ready to post it. However, it is rather long. I'm wondering if it would be better to create a new page titled something like "List of Mass Relays" or "Mass Relays/List" and create a link to that list on the Mass Relays article. What do you think? Thanks. TheUnknown285 (talk) 13:25, April 1, 2013 (UTC)

MEI Main article

Hi Commdor,

Due to the no response on my project forum to refresh the MEI main article (except from edits and help from several other editors and admins), can I add this page : User:DeldiRe/Sandbox/Mass_Effect:_Infiltrator to the main wiki ?

However, before doing so, I'd like you to check it one last time (if yo uhave time) espcially for the wording/spelling/grammar. Do not hesitate to edit my sandbox page, I authorize it.

Thanks for the help.

NB: I'm also working on a text to add into Storyline III, when it will be clear (with pictures), could you also check it for the same reasons than above before implementation ? --DeldiRe 08:13, April 8, 2013 (UTC)

Your project page for improving the Mass Effect: Infiltrator article hasn't received any new comments in some time, so you can go ahead and open it up for voting (add a section titled "Voting" with three subsections titled "Support", "Neutral", and "Oppose" above the "Comments" section). If the community approves the overhaul, we can implement it. If I find anything to critique I'll post about it later.
As for your ME:I additions to the Storyline III page, can you provide a link? I can't seem to find it. -- Commdor (Talk) 21:34, April 8, 2013 (UTC)
I start the vote then (vote that I already started but that Lancer stopped...), when this page and the template of Trandra for MEI enemies are implemented, the MEI content will be mainly added (still some work to do on walkthrough of the mission, I will provide some picture but hard for me to write everything, I'll do my best).
Here is the link for the Storyline : User:DeldiRe/Sandbox/Storyline III. Nevertheless, this article is not yet finished so I will come back to you when it will be ready. Thanks for the help. --DeldiRe 21:43, April 8, 2013 (UTC)

Hi again Commdor,

the vote is now over : Forum:ME:_Infiltrator_new_main_page . Are we ready to implement ? However, what do we do with the merge of the articles related to combat analysis ? Do I start a new vote ? --DeldiRe 10:31, April 16, 2013 (UTC)

I've applied the overhaul to the ME: Infiltrator article with some adjustments. Another vote to accommodate the merged info wasn't necessary since the overhaul did not conflict with the merge and vice-versa; the point of the overhaul was to improve the article's formatting, and the info didn't need to be removed to accomplish that. -- Commdor (Talk) 21:48, April 16, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the overhaul. Did you made a last quality check (spelling/grammar/wording) ? --DeldiRe 07:24, April 17, 2013 (UTC)

As promised the MEI section for Storyline III has been implemented but still need a quality check. Could you check it if nobody else can make it. Thanks in advance. In the same time, Cerberus article now has a small MEI section (no need for a large section). --DeldiRe 14:06, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the great cleanup work that you just achieved. Could you also check this post ? -> User talk:SpartHawg948#MEI heading on ME wikia. TY ;) --DeldiRe 20:03, April 23, 2013 (UTC)

Blood Pack.

Re: Graal Spike Thrower. Me and several other users established on Talk for the Blood Pack page that with the batarian classes and the Graal being listed in the challenges they could, and in light of the multiplayer canon policy should, be counted as relevant to the Blood Pack. Garhdo (talk) 03:16, April 13, 2013 (UTC)

The multiplayer canon policy applies to lore info provided by the multiplayer mode. MP challenges have no relation to ME lore, they're a gameplay feature like achievements, the power wheel, cover movement arrows, the start menu, etc. The Graal's inclusion in the Blood Pack Mastery challenge only means BioWare included the Graal in the Blood Pack Mastery challenge; any other implications, such as the possibility that the Blood Pack use the Graal, would be speculation.
Even if the challenges contained any lore info (a descriptive text blurb like "Blood Pack front line warriors rely on the Graal for its immense stopping power", for instance), the only viable reason to add the Blood Pack category to the Graal article would be if the Blood Pack were the creators of the weapon. Shepard can use the Cerberus Harrier, but we wouldn't add the Systems Alliance category to that weapon page just because of that. -- Commdor (Talk) 03:58, April 13, 2013 (UTC)

Similarities between Reapers and Leviathans "Irrelevant, this refers to the appearance of a Reaper's "core" (what the Human-Reaper was), not the external form"

Please provide som evidence or your "core" explanation. So far, I don't see any. Thanks--
David Latapie ( | @) 23:37, April 16, 2013 (UTC)

See the second Trivia item in the Human-Reaper article and its source. The outer shell of a Reaper like Sovereign is what resembles the Leviathans, and the Human-Reaper would have been enveloped by a similar shell. Ergo, Reaper similarity to Leviathans only applies to a Reaper's external appearance, and does not directly support that their inner "cores" may appear similar to the race they were created from. We would need to see another Reaper without its shell before we can prove EDI's speculation to be true. -- Commdor (Talk) 23:52, April 16, 2013 (UTC)

Awkward question

Hi Commdor - I'm in the awkward position of asking you, as the person who objected to my previous edit to the ME2 part of the Assignments page: on the talk page discussion we had me in favor, you against, and then Gardho weighed in "in favor". It has been over a week... am I allowed to proceed on a 2-1 basis? I think that counts as enough to move forward, but I don't want to be accused of starting an edit war with an admin. :-) I mocked up here the least intrusive marking possible, avoiding the Act 1 / Act 2 terminology you didn't like. Your faithful servant, etc. Cattlesquat (talk) 23:32, April 26, 2013 (UTC)

I've got no objections to implementing the layout provided in your sandbox, although there's an asterisk near the Hahne-Kedar mission in the left column that seems out of place. -- Commdor (Talk) 02:07, April 27, 2013 (UTC)

Hey, in response to some recent vandalism - we've had the AbuseFilter feature enabled on your wiki. This is a tool that allows us to set more powerful edit filters on the wiki. Admins also have access to this, and I'll leave it up to you guys to set any policies on using it (if any) - it can be a powerful tool to stop spam, but please ensure you follow Wikia's Terms of Use when you do. If you need any help with making or understanding any filters, let me know. If you decide not to use it, you can just delete the filter that was added and go about your business. -- RansomTime 19:44, April 29, 2013 (UTC)

Thank you. Hopefully this is just what we need to put an end to these attacks. -- Commdor (Talk) 21:20, April 29, 2013 (UTC)

Could you delete the comments Legionwrex and I have made on your blog post on the next ME game? I believe he and I have derailed the topic in the comment thread. If you don't want to, I'll understand. --Nord Ronnoc (talk) 01:59, May 2, 2013 (UTC)

You know, frankly I'm a bit irked that you are requesting my comments be removed from the thread. Pretty sure only the creator of the blog or the person who wrote the comment can do that. And honestly, I'd prefer if my comment didn't get deleted as I didn't even do anything wrong (I'm not saying you did, Nord), but if it'll keep the peace then whatever.--Legionwrex (talk) 02:45, May 2, 2013 (UTC)
Legionwrex has it right, only the blog's creator (in this case, me) or the creator of a comment can request that certain comments be deleted. You can request that your own comments be deleted, but not Legionwrex's. However, I don't find either of your comments to be overly disruptive, so I'm not inclined to delete them unless they later lead to a more serious dispute. -- Commdor (Talk) 03:54, May 2, 2013 (UTC)
Fair enough. --Nord Ronnoc (talk) 04:35, May 2, 2013 (UTC)

Possible sockpuppetry in blog

Greetings Mr. Administrator, I am a long-time lurker in this site and I would like to bring to your attention the issue as stated above.

This blog seems to be kept alive solely by this user and possible alternate IPs , , , (may not be all)

I have noticed them agreeing with each other for whatever reason, which is probably none of our business, but then I have noticed the same horrible spellings and grammar structure appearing over and over again on the posts of these people. even posted as "Lee" then identified themself later as "Jake".

Please deal with this. Thank you. 17:44, May 2, 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. While I agree that the behavior of these users is suspicious enough to warrant blocks for sockpuppetry, the comments themselves are neither malicious in nature nor harmful to the wiki, so I'm willing to hold off on blocking them for now. Since sockpuppetry should not be encouraged, however, I have turned off commenting for that particular blog. If these IPs start up again on another defunct blog post, I'll consider taking more stringent action. -- Commdor (Talk) 20:30, May 2, 2013 (UTC)

Hi Commdor - I accidentally created a misspelled redirect page & need it deleted since I can't. The incorrect one needing deletion is "Lessus_Monastery". The correct one that should stay is "Lesuss_Monastery". I can't believe I misspelled that after specifically checking what I was doing, but darned if I didn't. Sorry thanks! I thought it was referring to Brood because the original edit to the Archuk article included a bit about Vega saying the krogan was a prisoner. If Vega doesn't say that, then it's more likely he's referring to Archuk. Since there's still some uncertainty, though, I think the safest thing is to remove the trivia. -- Commdor (Talk) 02:53, May 11, 2013 (UTC)
vega's exact words during the identity theft mission (requires wrex for context): "Nothing beats having a krogan bodyguard, huh? I had a buddy like that once. Ah... no, not so much a buddy, really. More of a prisoner who helped us. It's a long story, man. Anyway... Brooks. She's kinda cute. Think she's on the market?"
this looks like one of the things where no explicit connections were made but conservation of detail (especially given james' detailed backstory) points to the most likely conclusion. the qualifier "may be referring to brood" in the trivia wording is sufficient enough in my books, it doesn't really say that it -was- brood, but it allows for the possibility either way. like most of our unsourced trivia bits where reasonable connections were deemed acceptable. Asking here with it just being mentioned above - If reasonable connections can be allowed here to create trivia, without any confirmation, then why can the same not be done for ongoing issues like Aleena/Aria, Joker's sister, etc. Not trying to start an argument, merely trying to play devil's advocate and wondering why one supposition is acceptable but the others are not? Garhdo (talk) 11:04, May 11, 2013 (UTC)

Those other items have already been brought up at some point in the past and then contested, so now developer confirmation is required to get them back in (especially the Aria/Aleena link, which I've never considered credible). No one's out-and-out objected to the Brood trivia yet, but the moment someone does, it too will have to be removed until it can be dev-confirmed. -- Commdor (Talk) 19:41, May 11, 2013 (UTC)

Or we could vote a special policy exception - hint, hint! :-) Cattlesquat (talk) 20:20, May 11, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah... I don't think so. I much prefer keeping trivia on a short leash, too many other wikis don't and you end up seeing the most ludicrous things in their trivia sections. -- Commdor (Talk) 20:39, May 11, 2013 (UTC)
My theory would be more along the lines of adding a few very specific items into the policy (e.g. a note on Aeian T'Goni briefly describing the semi-confirmation-incident about that) - not opening the door for trivia in general but having the community judge a few specific things worthy of inclusion. Understand the concern about the ludicrous though. I've certainly seen a whole lot of total crud try to get added here. Cattlesquat (talk) 20:53, May 11, 2013 (UTC)
But you already tried that recently, and it was rejected by the community for good reason. I know you've got the best intentions, but this simply isn't a door that can be opened only partway. The dev-confirmation rule is a clear standard with a single, indisputable interpretation; remove that, and the only thing preventing users from adding gibberish to trivia sections is whether or not they can secure enough votes in their favor. It's far too risky. -- Commdor (Talk) 23:52, May 11, 2013 (UTC)
Totally already tried that, yeah, and not personally planning another run up that particular hill for a while at least. Having it get rejected was good reason to take a step back from it, and if I ever did propose something myself on that it would be far more surgical than the last one, e.g. "this specific note and nothing else can be added". But I do still think the Aeian T'Goni connection deserves better than the "cold shoulder", so for now I'll still look for opportunities to plead the case. :-) Cattlesquat (talk) 00:01, May 12, 2013 (UTC)

To add to my point about Devil's advocacy above. The Brood trivia should be removed in that case. I am formally objecting as we cannot allow a supposition, however logical, if others are refuted and must remain that way, despite being as logical. Garhdo (talk) 00:03, May 12, 2013 (UTC)

No objections here. -- Commdor (Talk) 00:33, May 12, 2013 (UTC)

The ME3 Relevance Policy Vote

Hi Commdor - this passed, so a procedural question I have is... should the main paragraph of that get copied/paraphrased into the community guidelines somewhere? Or is it sufficient to just stay on the policy page? Cattlesquat (talk) 12:37, May 11, 2013 (UTC)

It is enough that the policy page exists. Trandra (talk) 17:24, May 11, 2013 (UTC)

Rowdy posters on a blog

Mr. Mittens's recent blog has drawn a lot of rowdy, immature, and pointless comments, most prominently from Charles Saracino and Ardent Clerk Bosker Apologist—the Ardent Clerk guy also made a very inappropriate edit to Legionwrex's talk page and Charles has posted an apparent chat log filled with extremely inappropriate comments. I really don't see any sensible purpose coming out of the comments on that blog, given the attitude of these people who have just come along to play on the site. Kaidan Alenko Trivia

Hello Commdor, not sure this is the place to ask but I saw you reverted an edit of the trivia on the Kaidan Alenko page, about his name being written Kaiden in Mass Effect 1, with the comment "requires verification". I have a screen to support this if it could help. --Charoleia (talk) 16:59, May 19, 2013 (UTC)

We need also independent confirmations since this would essentially be a bug. BUT, I'm doing some Mass "1" playthroughs right now so if you'll let me know precisely where in the game to go I will go and try to provide a confirmation. Cattlesquat (talk) 17:57, May 19, 2013 (UTC)
Quite easy, you can see it when you choose to land on Virmire. During the cinematic when the Normandy approaches the planet, Kaidan says "Check out those defense towers". With the subtitles on, you can see that Kaidan is spelled Kaiden.--Charoleia (talk) 20:41, May 19, 2013 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure I have seen this too. But don't count that as verification because I'm not 100%. Trandra (talk) 20:51, May 19, 2013 (UTC)
I know its not a reputed source, But I have seen this listed on other sites including TVTropes. Never noticed it myself but other people clearly have, so a bit of checking should easily confirm it. Garhdo (talk) 22:37, May 19, 2013 (UTC)
I've just verified this in an ME game, playing on Xbox 360 -- just about the first thing Kaidan says when you head to Virmire. Cattlesquat (talk) 03:26, May 21, 2013 (UTC)

turrets as "lifeforms"?

what's our stance on this? turrets obviously aren't alive (unless -maybe- if geth) though some people do list them on certain planets probably thinking "lifeforms" = "enemies encountered on the planet". As I've been working through the ME missions, I've noticed "Lifeforms" being used in various places as essentially an antiquated version of an "Enemies" list for planets, and if I'm not mistaken in some Assignments. Really we should probably just update all of these to "Enemies". Is my opinion on it. Cattlesquat (talk) 04:13, May 20, 2013 (UTC)
and still we have things like "pod crabs" or "shifty-looking cows" on some pages. All turrets and drones (including those of geth manufacture, since it's never been established if geth turrets and drones contain geth programs and therefore can be called "alive") should be listed in the Points of Interest tables at the specific points where they are encountered (see Luna) and kept out of the Lifeforms sections. -- Commdor (Talk) 05:19, May 20, 2013 (UTC)

no complaints on the mass moving of comic story content onto the storyline pages?

if none, the relevant comic pages should probably be pruned of story content for less redundancy since that's apparently how the literature articles were set up: real world info in their own articles, story bits in the storyline articles. Nope, no complaints. Story summaries for comics are displayed in both the Storyline articles and the individual comic articles. Some time ago I tried to get the summaries moved out of the comic articles due to that redundancy, thus bringing them in line with the book pages, but the motion was opposed. -- Commdor (Talk) 03:54, May 27, 2013 (UTC)
that sort of thing classifies as a "major change"? well now. given that your proposal is about 2 years old and a lot of new material has been released since then, it's probably safe to say that ME comics are generally one-shots or a couple of issues each.
the blanket-copypasting of comic content into the storyline pages brought up this question of mine, and i dunno if that should've been reverted pending further community discussion or we can simply chop off the story bits from the comic articles now because of established precedent against redundancies. in any case, discussion or policy proposals should probably yield more productive results this time around. Subdividing "Player Notes"?

Since I just got my re-org for Arc Grenade's Player Notes section reverted twice (albeit once by an angry person), I thought I'd check in on this.

Is there a style policy that stipulates that Player Notes shouldn't be subdivided?

If not, can't a case be made where in some cases subdivision and organization is necessary for clarity? I.E. there's a difference between data/fact-backed simple info ("how this works") and opinion-based strategy ("how some people think you should do this").

(Thelee (talk) 21:13, May 30, 2013 (UTC))

The Manual of Style for power articles does not currently allow for the subdivision of Player Notes sections with additional headings. Changing the MoS to get the headings added would require a policy proposal.
Although (and I'm mentally kicking myself for not realizing this five minutes ago; I didn't sleep any last night so the thought processes are a little off), it'd be acceptable to divy up the Player Notes sections with psuedo-headings as is done on the multiplayer class pages. You would just need to make sure that all Player Notes sections across the power articles are similarly organized eventually. -- Commdor (Talk) 21:23, May 30, 2013 (UTC)
Ah! I was wondering why the multiplayer class pages used the ";General"-style bold fake headings. I wonder if this qualifies as a "loophole." If you don't mind, I'm going to revert your fixes in that manner (just so it's clear I'm not edit warring you). My end goal is to eventually have powers organized like that (though some are in direr need than others), but given the number of pages that's a big "eventually." (Thelee (talk) 21:26, May 30, 2013 (UTC))

Someone is aggressively reverting all my edits, regardless of legitimate of source (many of my sources are actual developers or devconfirmed methodology) and due to formatting. Thought I'd give you a heads up to see if there was any provision for soft-banning an IP. Also posting this on Trandra's page. (Thelee (talk) 04:19, May 31, 2013 (UTC))

Thumbnail confusion

While editing in source mode, I've seen some images with captions, but they don't have the thumb indication in the file brackets for the caption to actually show up to the reader. Were these images intended to be thumbnails? If so... there are a lot of images missing the thumb indication. Zapeth (talk) 03:52, June 4, 2013 (UTC)

Nope, none of the images we use in articles are supposed to be thumbnails. Captions are there because they appear as mouseover text on the image without the "thumb" modifier. -- Commdor (Talk) 04:07, June 4, 2013 (UTC)
Oh, okay; I see. Out of curiosity, why don't you all use thumbnails in your images? Zapeth (talk) 04:22, June 4, 2013 (UTC)
Aesthetics. Images and articles simply looked better without them, and they had never been applied consistently to begin with. -- Commdor (Talk) 04:58, June 4, 2013 (UTC)

Looking at the situation, it appears that it could fall under the "random IP change thing" where someone's IP changes when they are editing. I'm not going to issue a ban, unless it keeps happening, but I am open to a second opinion. Lancer1289 (talk) 15:00, June 15, 2013 (UTC)
I blocked the first IP because that's definitely a sockpuppet/alt. IP of the same user who has been reverting Thelee's edits, edit warring, and harassing Thelee and other users who supported his recent policy. The switching-IP-thing, if unintentional, would be excusable except for the fact this user is taking advantage of it to continue his disruptions despite being blocked, thus making it sockpuppetry.
The second IP made a legitimate complaint about Thelee's questionable actions, nothing more, so I don't see any tangible connection to the sockpuppeteer or any other reason to block it. -- Commdor (Talk) 00:40, June 16, 2013 (UTC)

Maybe You Can Find It

Commdor. As I was playing ME the other day, I think we might have an oversight. had just completed Pinnacle Station, and I can't seem to find the article for Shepard's house on Intai'sei. Now I thought we had an article for that, unless I can't find it. Maybe you can and point out my error, but if we don't, it needs to be created. Lancer1289 (talk) 19:38, June 22, 2013 (UTC)

You might be thinking of Pinnacle Station: Convoy. It more or less covers the house, but it's an assignment page. We could make a location page too I suppose, but I can't recall if the place ever has a proper name we could use for a title. -- Commdor (Talk) 19:44, June 22, 2013 (UTC)
You see the thing is that I thought it was Personal Apartment, but that is being used for the apartment on the Citadel. On the galaxy map it is called "Shepard's Apartment", which I think we could use, but I could have sworn we had an article for it to begin with. Lancer1289 (talk) 19:48, June 22, 2013 (UTC)
