What gives?

Could I get a reason as to why my edits a being reverted? On Samantha Traynor's page, I specified that the Primarch is rescued from Menae since the Palaven link mentions nothing about Priority: Palaven. Reverted edit and I'd like to know why...

Hi (and Happy New Year!) On the page Arrae: Ex-Cerberus Scientists, I've added an information in the first paragraph of the "Evacuation" section (16:36, December 5, 2015). However it was undone, although the information is true and also important as it relates to another quest which depends on it. Is there any reason? Is there a process I'd be unaware of for posting or modifying a page on this Wiki? Thanks. --HawkFest (talk) 14:28, January 4, 2016 (UTC)

Concerning Virmire: Assault

Hey, Temp. I know that guy was edit warring, but I did check to see if his revision was valid. It seemed so; see here. Am I missing something? Am I wrong in perceiving that as going *down* the stairs and into the security room which hosted the other two indoctrinated salarians, rather than up them?

Just informing you of why I didn't undo that guy's revision myself: it seemed valid, as far as I knew. Althyk (talk) 21:16, January 15, 2016 (UTC)

Hi Temporary!

I edited yesterday the UNC: Hostage page to reflect the fact that Kaidan doesn't always mention the fact that he's an L2 too as the current version of the article suggests, he only does that when you pick the Charm option. If you pick the Intimidate line, he mentions something else - that they (biotics) have been heard and that they don't have to die for it.

Could you tell me why the edit was reverted? I'm new to editing wikis, but I was sure I was complying to the guidelines, and I was trying to adhere to the style of the article(s) as much as possible. I also replayed the scenario and tried picking all the other options to make sure, but Kaidan doesn't mention the L2 thing unless you use Charm. Did I violate any wiki rule?

I thought it would be a worth addition to the article because some people try to squeeze out as much lore as possible from the game, and bringing certain squad members to a particular mission is often the best way to do it. I brought Kaidan to the mission for that purpose after reading the article, and was disappointed when all I got (using Intimidate) was that generic line.

I apologize if this is not the way to ask for clarification on edits, again I'm new to the whole wiki business.

Thank you for you time! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ryuuichi53 (talk · contr).

it's irrelevant. squadmate dialogue during missions/assignments is covered in the squadmates' respective unique dialogue pages. Also, since when does one have to be "allowed to" create a page on a wiki? Are you monarch of this little kingdom? Excuse me for mistaking this for a community encyclopedia instead of what it really is, a private sandbox. Maybe you should rename the site "Temporaryeditor78's Mass Effect Pages" and disable the public editing features.

You should take that advice. You never change, never will. Just as pathetic as always. You even scare off other admins. There is no other wiki that has such a miserable admin like you, because no other admin group is foolish enough to give you the power to do this.

Feel free to reply, just know I won't be reading it.

As always, I expect you'll delete the posts and block my IP, and when I feel like it I'll just switch it like I always have and post again.

To the other users of this wiki who may be reading this, I suggest reporting this user to the support team of wikia. There was someone not unlike Temp in the skyrim wiki and they removed her as an admin after enough reports.

Good day.

Just so you know. When I edited Virmire: Assault I kept getting notified that my edits were being revoked, so obviously I would check to see why. When I saw in my email that it said Temporary editor I assumed, like most people would, that it was a computerized editor that was in the wrong. Since I did not think it was a real person I continued reverting the changes back to mine thinking that eventually this computer editor would stop. I was not aware that this was a real person nor was I trying to entice an "edit war." In the future it would help if I could have counter-evidence sent to me before my edits are revoked, so that things like this don't happen. Thank you for understanding.

Nah, Temp is a total joke and a tool, you're wasting your breath. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk · contr).

Reverting the Ultimate Sniper section on Infiltrater Guide ME3

I was about to complain to you about you reversing my Ultimate Sniper guide on the Infiltrator, which is not my own personal build but one that anyone would find is the most lethal fighter, but I see from other messages that you reverse a lot of stuff and are quite picky. Fine, I'll make it a personal one on my own user page but I will link it to the guide page. Honestly though, you need to loosen up a little.

Kiljaedenas (talk) 22:08, February 12, 2016 (UTC)

SERIOUSLY? You got rid of the link? How is anyone supposed to know the existence of, and find, that ME3 Infiltrator sniper build blog that I wrote if it isn't referenced in the main ME3 Infiltrator guide? The main class guide pages are the only places where it even makes sense to put links to more specific build guide blogs.

What gives?!

Kiljaedenas (talk) 00:00, February 13, 2016 (UTC)

Temp is a 400 lb neck beard who beats off to MLP and still lives with his parents. He has no control over any aspect of his real life and if he ever treated people in reality the way he does on the internet someone would cave his face in, so this wiki is like his little fantasy kingdom. Don't bother asking him why, you're wasting your breath. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk · contr).

This is all extremely inappropriate and certainly not the way to deal with a disagreement over an edit on a gaming wiki. Relax. Temp almost always gives reasons as to why edits are undone, and if they don't, you can ask them and they will. If you're unhappy about it, then argue. There is no need to go around spouting nonsense like this just because you are upset about it. TheKingLerp (talk) 11:05, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

Removing Geth Dreadnaught edit

Okay, what was wrong with that one? Why can't I add a section that describes the hidden option of unique dialog if a romanced Tali and an ME1 romantic partner are in the same squad on this mission? What rule does that break?

Kiljaedenas (talk) 19:57, February 15, 2016 (UTC)

again, unique dialogue is covered in squadmates' relevant UD pages. T̴̴͕̲̞̳̖̼̱͒͛̎͒ͫ̃ͧeͩ̈̽̈҉͓̝̰̼̦̫̤̀͠m̫̪̪̯̻͎̫̅̇̓̇͌̚p̸̙̝̓̓͌ͨ͆ͣͥ̂̕o͒̽͐̽͏̞̬̻͕͔͕͚̰͍͠͞ṙ̢̞͚͈̹̰ͨ̓ͭ̈́̌ạ̢̧̪̹̺̺̣̹̲͂͆̏ͪͨ͒ͭř̹͈͜͠y̷͍̻̜̹̼̾̽̈́e̵̹̼̟̦͚͐̈́͌͘d͉̲̣̻͉̱͗̅ḭ̷̻̆͋̆̓̔͝t̨͍̦̫̗͂̅̍̋̆ͩ͝ộ̫̟̬̳̝̲̾ͫ̒̿ͮ̑̚rͯ̎ͨͭ̄̿̽͛҉̠̫̱̠̘̘̲́ͅ7̩̻ͤͩͨ͝͡8̜̣̙͇̻ͨ͛͛̆͒̆̽̒͐͜͡ ͥ̍̉̃̇ͥ̓ͨ͏̕҉̥̹͓̗̤̠̖̤ (talk) 03:23, February 16, 2016 (UTC)

But how would people looking up the mission on here know about the unique dialog if it isn't listed there? Is it reasonable to expect them to read through every character's unique dialog page before each mission to know which combination of them have it at that time? Wouldn't even a brief note on it in the Preparation section be far more efficient?

Kiljaedenas (talk) 19:38, February 16, 2016 (UTC)

proper information compartmentalization. learn about it.
i have a blog detailing nearly every dialog opportunity across the trilogy, even recommending specific squadmate combinations for desired impact, yet i never placed the info on walkthroughs for that very reason. that just distracts from the purpose of the walkthroughs - show people how to finish the level.
everyone will have something to say at one point or another, particularly in ME3, and in walkthroughs character moments are just second fiddle and unnecessary. cherrypicking just leads to bias, and indiscriminate inclusion again leads to bloat and irrelevance, hence the segregation of data.
there are rare exceptions. the squadmate/s being your shepard's squeeze doesn't make one - almost half of them could be. Apologies again, but I'm having some difficulties locating the things you mentioned. Specifically, I can't quite find the MOS page you described. It doesn't appear on the main page, and while there's a section at Mass Effect Wiki:Manual of Style/General it does not mention line breaks specifically (I also assume you are referring to line breaks or newlines when you say "space" in your message).
If you can point me to the specific page which defines and explains these standards I will be happy to ensure it conforms to those style standards. Otherwise, I will attempt to fix the edits to UNC: Geth Incursions and Ilos: Find the Conduit in a way I think is appropriate (using Mass Effect Wiki:Files Guideline, but it may not be completely as you request – you may be required to fix it again yourself. Trophy page

I added information regarding trophies and unlocking talents to the achievement page. I ran into this issue myself and found little to no information online regarding a solution. Not even the wiki states a solution. I finally found out what was wrong and added this information to the wiki. It will help other people with understanding how this works and how they can get their bonus talents unlocked. This information must be shared. Some people seem to believe a solution is to start over or that you have to delete all your game and save data. The issue is that tracking of unlocks and trophy with counters are separate on the PS3. I own both the xbox and the PS3 version and I can verify this myself as I have run into this problem and resolved it. Now I can understand that the location of the information on the page or the way it is presented may not be to your liking. I understand and if you feel it needs to be edited then do so by all means. I do however feel that this information must be shared and this wiki is a source of information people use to solve their problems as well.

The wiki also states you can use an ability and then reload the game. This doesn't work on the PS3. It's an actual difference in how the xbox and the ps3 handle their achievements. If we leave the above information out then the wiki will give PS3 players incorrect information. AeonsLegend (contact me) 17:26, March 16, 2016 (UTC)

Fine, I added it to the talkpage as you indirectly requested. Don't know who's going to talk about it with the low amount of players playing ME1 on the PS3, but at least the information is on the site. And maybe there it will prevent some poor soul from wasting 30 hours of his/her life.AeonsLegend (contact me) 18:06, March 16, 2016 (UTC)

Incendiary Ammo

Why did you revert the edit? You should at least give a reason in the changelog. Incendiary Ammo in many cases actually does more damage (explosive AOE) than warp/armor piercing ammo, reduces enemy attacks (less time spent in cover recharging shields) and keeps enemies from hiding.-- 12:37, March 25, 2016 (UTC)

i don't, actually. read the item again and nobody's asking about the added effects of the ammo as the focus there is in straight up DPS. Huh? It says nothing about DPS. Since enemies will hide in cover much more often with other ammos, effective DPS will be actually lower with other ammos. Against organic enemies, Incendiary Ammo is almost always superior.-- 13:28, March 25, 2016 (UTC)

Adrenaline Rush

The developers aren't right. See also this thread for documented testing: http://forum.bioware.com/topic/570994-weapon-damage-formula-wip/

You can verify yourself that they are dead wrong. The debug console: http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/PC_Tweaks_(Mass_Effect_2) provides exact defense/health numbers ("combat health target"). You can easily change the number of upgrades with the console or the Gibbed save editor. BTW, sniper rifles must be used for repeatable testing, since they don't get a short range bonus. Other weapons scale damage based on the distance. -- 07:17, April 6, 2016 (UTC)

Interwiki flags

I've noticed that other Mass Effect Wikis have flags of the nations where the languages are spoken (ex. the Ukranian and German wikis) and I was wondering if there is a way that we could do that. I know you usually dismiss "But THAT wiki does it!" as a reason for doing something, but these are other Mass Effect Wikis. So could this be done? TheKingLerp (talk) 04:51, May 22, 2016 (UTC)

doable with some straightup "research" but- you did type it- that does fall under the "But THAT wiki does it!" as a reason for doing something dismissal. even if the interlanguage wikis do it, it's still their own thing.
my opinion is that the default system in place works just fine. there are other issues i feel that need overhauling (and heads to bounce ideas off on) first before this, and this is something i think can be revisited somewhere down the pipeline. other people having enough know-how to do so could expedite the process though. 12:54, May 23, 2016 (UTC)

What is with the reverts?

I am replaying ME 1 after a few years so I decided to double check some things on this wiki only to find it very disorganized and lack important information compared to what I remember (especially in regards to ME 1). I Thought I would help fix the wiki up and edited a few minor things only to have them wiped by you for no apparent reason. Great way to alienate a possible future editor with several playthroughs each of ME 1, 2 & 3.

@UNC: Dead Scientists: I don't know about you but I certainly would want a warning that I was going to be teleported out of the base via loading screen following a conversation with an NPC.

@Categories/Tags are used to help users/editors access/search and correlate non-hierarchical related information in a fast and more efficiently manner (something greatly needed on this wiki). your edits were, on the whole, barely proofread, largely redundant and *not* improvements. piece of advice: brush up on your spelling and grammar skills first before the accumulated errors diminish any impressions to your capability to properly contribute.
categories are created when there are enough items to populate them and if there's a justifiable need in doing so. again, this isn't wikipedia. nor a place that permits meaningless category overload. Maybe because that mention in the lede is four screens up on the page, and will be completely missed by anyone who follows a direct link to the section?

I have given this Wiki another try, but am really admiring the irony with which you are running an "expand this Wiki" ad while continuing to disallow anyone but yourself to contribute anything.

So, do tell me: what is required to be allowed to make any contributions at all to what appears to be a wiki of, by, and for Temporaryeditor78 alone? Solicitr (talk) 15:11, September 12, 2016 (UTC)

try reading and following the manuals of style on the autowelcome message on your talkpage for starters. what, thought that was for display?
people every now and then have been contributing here with little to no issues whatsoever. just because you consistently fail to understand any sense of content organization doesn't mean others do too.

Oooh, people "every now and then" get in an edit that doesn't displease you? Who crowned you God-Emperor of Mass Effect?
No, I didn't think the style manual was for display, but I did think it was a set of guidelines as is the case on genuine wikis. Silly me- this isn't a genuine wiki an the manual is your personal preferences enforced as soi-disant Rules. To reverse the question: What, thought the "wiki" at the top of every page was for display only? You see, a wiki is by definition communal, not autocratic. It represents the contributions and approaches of a widespread community, not the idiosyncratic pleasure of one monomaniacal control freak with supermod privileges. Real wikis have multiple admins and dispute resolution procedures and, remarkably, seldom need them because differences of opinion are usually worked out amicably in discussion - but that would involve admitting that legitimate opinions other than your own actually exist.
You see, you're really only hurting yourself. This personal-Mass-Effect-site-posing-as-a-Wiki suffers from it, because there are, or were, and possibly could be, a large number of willing and informed contributors who could improve it (greatly)-- that is, if you would allow them, or don't drive them off with your high-handed and insulting manner. You would actually have to consider other human beings as your equals, not your subjects.
Just to start with, the user-unfriendly organization of this site and many of its longer pages could use a mass overhaul since, ironically enough, your sense of content organization leaves a lot to be desired. It could have gaping informational holes closed (like the Suicide Mission death mechanics). But I fear you won't allow anyone to alter or correctwhat you have done, no matter how much it objectively needs it (including prose that in places makes even Memory Alpha look unstilted).
This could potentially be a good wiki - a good genuine wiki - but only if you were to stop behaving like this is North Korea and you're Kim Jong-Un. Would you actually be willing to de-swell your ego enough to make room for the project to grow? You could, you know. You could actually consider an approach other than "my way or the highway;" believe it or not, you might find that your fragile self-esteem could withstand the shock.
Or not. You have the power of course just to wield your Fisher Price ban-hammer again, autorevert every edit not made by you and your two or three friends, and play in your sandbox all by yourselves. But if that's the case, you should at least have the honesty to remove it from Wikia and shift it to a private domain without the false pretense that it's a community encyclopedia, or anything at all but your personal Mass Effect site. Solicitr (talk) 00:42, September 13, 2016 (UTC)

I'm worried that you're being too abrasive here. Doesn't Wikia encourage anyone, admin or otherwise, to treat other editors well? I'm aware we all have our moments, but I believe it's a good idea to be on our best behavior. Also, you might want to change the coding for your signature. It makes it harder to read the subsequent lines. --Nord Ronnoc (talk) 00:28, September 13, 2016 (UTC)

Hi Temp, even if the edit warring with Nord was clear and that discussion should have go to the talk page, I would suggest to suspend the block for a regular editor such as Nord Ronnoc. Just sayin' in order to keep good relations between users of the wiki. --DeldiRe (talk) 12:15, September 14, 2016 (UTC)

New Feature Additions: Discussions

Hello Temporaryeditor78

I'm here to give you a heads-up about Discussions, a new feature that we're currently beta-testing and rolling out to more and more communities.

Here's a short overview, in case you haven't heard of it yet: Discussions is a forum-like conversation space that works equally well in a desktop browser, mobile browser, and in our community apps. With communities that already have Discussions, we've seen a big influx in new members for the community who signed up just so they could use Discussions and talk to other users about their favorite game. It made the wiki accessible for a lot of users who loved the topic, and enjoyed the articles, but couldn't quite find their niche to contribute before.

Instead of giving you a lengthy description, I suggest checking out Fallout Discussions as an example to see what Discussions is like: http://fallout.wikia.com/d/f

You and the other admins and moderators in this community will have special moderator rights in Discussions as well. You can lock and delete threads, undelete them, see posts that users have flagged as inappropriate, and customize your own guidelines for Discussions, for example, and we're still working on adding more moderation features.

Since Mass Effect: Andromeda is coming out in March 2017, and you already have a popular community app, we expect Discussions to become quite active. This could be an opportunity for you to reach new potential members and to grow the community even before the release of the game. If some experienced community members are willing to keep an eye on the new space and post good content at the beginning, leading by example, that'll help make this a valuable new addition to the wiki.

Are you or any of the other current admins and mods interested in moderating Discussions, once it's set up? If you don't have the time to add this to your duties, you can instead look for responsible, active candidates among the new Discussions users, and promote them to moderators. Some Discussions users may not even edit the wiki (many only visit it via the app), but we've seen Discussions-only users do a very good job at moderating.

Other communities have chosen to go that route, with a Discussions-only group of moderators, some have a mix of experienced wiki editors and new Discussions users moderating, and some just expanded their regular moderation to include the Discussions conversations.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this! We're happy to address any concerns you might have, and to help you set up a moderation team for Discussions, if you're up to it! Pinkachu (talk) 18:32, October 6, 2016 (UTC)

Hey, what was wrong with the picture i uploaded and you reversed? Did i made something wrong? Im talking about the Alec Ryder picture. At least you could explain why it was reverted, otherwise it will be difficult that people spend time trying to improve the wiki when the changes/updates are removed and not even explined why... 11:28, November 9, 2016 (UTC)

ME: Andromeda, the new information

Before pointless to cancel other people's edits, I advise you to watch the trailer Mass Effect: Andromeda from the N7 Day, and video presentation of the game with the PS4 Pro. And yet read the article Mass Effect: Andromeda on the Gameinformer.

Discussions Enabled

I wanted to let you know that Discussions is now fully active on the Mass Effect Wiki community. I see you posted in it once already, so you know how to find it. That's awesome! Discussions are not yet available on the dedicated app, but the feature is coming very soon. Hopefully within the next few weeks.

As described in my previous post, Discussions can be moderated and controlled by Admins and/or any user they assign as a Discussions moderator. Fandom staff will initially assist with moderation while the feature populates and grows. Topics can be edited and threads can be locked or deleted, as can individual posts. Anyone can report posts but a moderator or admin will need to review and delete them. Users can alter or delete their own posts for the first 24 hours after they post. For more information, see Help:Discussions.

If you have any questions, please post them on my talk wall. I can receive messages via Special:Contact, however, the message would need to be addressed to me. I am not part of the specific team who reads and responds to that messaging system. Messaging me directly is the only way to ensure a faster response. Thanks! Pinkachu (talk) 19:54, November 15, 2016 (UTC)

You will have noticed Discussions is visible in a footer below the articles. Deleted posts will only show to Admins and Staff. If you would prefer to switch to an activity feed rather than a footer on any page (most commonly used on the main page) you can. The instructions for creating the feed can be found in Help:Discussions activity feed. To disable the footer on any page using the feed, you would simply add
.mainpage .discussion-module {

to wikia.css. (Obviously, you would switch out .mainpage for the actual page name if it is different). Pinkachu (talk) 18:52, November 17, 2016 (UTC)

Hello! Would you please explain the revert of my changes? I don't see how it violates the community guidelines or style guide and to me the changes are relevant to the page.

see Mass_Effect_Wiki:Community_Guidelines#Making_Major_Changes_in_the_Wiki. additionally, the wiki doesn't generally endorse usage of thirdparty tools to keep the game experience uniform for all. game assets rendered with thirdparty tools as opposed to -actual screenshots taken while playing the game-, genius. ponder on that while you wait out your block.
your edits weren't acceptable because of 1) the above and 2) perspective reasons. with few exceptions if character X is introduced in ME2, character X gets an ME2 picture. Hey Temporaryeditor78, i just wanted to know the reason for the recent reverts of my edits (On Mass Effect 2 Tweaks and the Foundation Part on the Jack Page). Not meant in a rude way, i'd just like how i can improve my edits. Then i took a look at your User talk page. And your contributions. Again, this is not meant offensively, but i see that you're quite busy reverting changes without good reasons given. I also looked at many of the reverts you made and i cam to the conclusion that most of them didn't seem to be 'redundant' at all. As there have already been a lot of complaints about that behaviour of yours, i wanted to know what your view about this is. Because i can only i see an abuse of admin right there.

Aquatali (talk) 14:29, November 24, 2016 (UTC)

If I'm taking a guess, I'd say Temporary reverted because of the 'Major changes' guideline in the 'community guidelines' article (http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Mass_Effect_Wiki:Community_Guidelines#Making_Major_Changes_in_the_Wiki). This is, of course, something he should have clearly stated, according to the same set of rules he uses to justify his reverts. I'm not judging the validity of the reverts, but I do think that if he expects others to stick to the rules when editing, he should be doing the same.Randuir (talk) 08:29, November 25, 2016 (UTC)
randuir: close but no cigar, but props nonetheless for attempting to justify with rules. as for the actual questions:
1) the jack edits were, simply put, unnecessary. there's no need to rewrite a section that has no issues in the first place.
2) consider honing your writing and grammatical skills first before asking why poorly written passages shouldn't be reverted wholesale.
i've said it before, i'll say it again, i have a life IRL (just look how much time it took to reply) and i don't have enough time to deal with shenanigans with anything else other than a convenient one-click button. the edits -are- redundant and often incorrect when taking information sorting on the entire wiki into account. few people barely even put the effort in seeing how that works before messing around. -we- weren't remiss in our duty in reminding people there are style guides and policies to follow, the autowelcome messages on your talkpages are proof enough. Salarian Military edits

Hi there, I would like to know why my edits on the Salarian page under the military section is being reverted? All the information is true and is the formatting is similar to the Turian page. Wolfishtail (talk) 02:25, December 3, 2016 (UTC)

capitalize race names improperly again and you will find your edits reverted wholesale. no exceptions. you also mixed in conjectural information as they did -not- participate in the battle of the citadel. finally, they're not really a military-inclined race - they're "sneakier" than that - thus military actions are actually irrelevant there. T̴̴͕̲̞̳̖̼̱͒͛̎͒ͫ̃ͧeͩ̈̽̈҉͓̝̰̼̦̫̤̀͠m̫̪̪̯̻͎̫̅̇̓̇͌̚p̸̙̝̓̓͌ͨ͆ͣͥ̂̕o͒̽͐̽͏̞̬̻͕͔͕͚̰͍͠͞ṙ̢̞͚͈̹̰ͨ̓ͭ̈́̌ạ̢̧̪̹̺̺̣̹̲͂͆̏ͪͨ͒ͭř̹͈͜͠y̷͍̻̜̹̼̾̽̈́e̵̹̼̟̦͚͐̈́͌͘d͉̲̣̻͉̱͗̅ḭ̷̻̆͋̆̓̔͝t̨͍̦̫̗͂̅̍̋̆ͩ͝ộ̫̟̬̳̝̲̾ͫ̒̿ͮ̑̚rͯ̎ͨͭ̄̿̽͛҉̠̫̱̠̘̘̲́ͅ7̩̻ͤͩͨ͝͡8̜̣̙͇̻ͨ͛͛̆͒̆̽̒͐͜͡ ͥ̍̉̃̇ͥ̓ͨ͏̕҉̥̹͓̗̤̠̖̤ (talk) 02:36, December 3, 2016 (UTC)

ok I'm sorry about the capitalisation, that is my bad, but the salarians did participate in the battle of the citadel, as they are part of the citadel fleet, also would it matter if they are a "sneakier" race, they still have a military that does conduct military actions? I have corrected my errors and have not added the "known military actions" and will not do so until I get a bearing.
Kind regards,
