Fandom Partners with EA for Mass Effect Andromeda

As you may or may not know, Fandom has a partnership with Electronic Arts. Due to the upcoming release of Mass Effect Andromeda, EA is offering to supply our design team with visual assets. The purpose is to use them to provide Mass Effect Wiki with a new logo, background, and other design features. The main impact of these 'spiffs' as we call them, are generally seen on the MainPage but can occasionally include new pages such as our Instant Expert or Getting Started guides. We do our best to seek community approval before the new designs are implemented.

Please respond and let us know if you and your community would be interested in our help with a visual update. We would do our best to make sure it reflects the upcoming game as much as possible without losing the features you feel are most important to your users. Our most recent admin and community collaborations can be seen at the Deus Ex Wiki and Civilization Wiki. I will personally be here to help answer questions or concerns, and of course, to help with editing once the game is released.

On a side note - what is the video policy here? I looked at some of the editing policies that were community specific and I did not see it. I only noticed that your community isn't using them. An explanation or a link to the actual policy would be appreciated.

Please let me know soon! Thanks. Pinkachu (talk) 18:59, January 10, 2017 (UTC)

hi, i've sent out some messages to the other guys if they have anything to suggest. off the top of my head i can only think of the main page to focus on as its layout hasn't been updated for a very long time, due to reasons.
in terms of visual assets, it would be nice to have a couple of (very) high-resolution/high-quality images and icons. the andromeda items we currently have i only ripped from the existing trailers since there aren't any other (legit) sources available.
the video policy can be summed up as "thanks, but no thanks." using videos was decided against early on because of quality concerns (and because almost all of them featured irrelevant gameplay elements and/or some guy's shepard or another - in violation of canon concerns). pictures are much easier to manipulate. file usage on the wiki is prescribed here: MEW:Files Guideline. PS also if you know who manages the MEWiki twitter please remind them to resume updating - none of us have access to it. thanks.
I don't have much to add to what he said. Main page needs an update for sure. Looks like the two examples given have a "featured" area at the top which links to the latest game. I think that's a good idea for us. I also like the Civ wiki's tab solution for the previous games -- pretty slick.
High-res images are always welcome, preferably without watermarks. The link to the section on our video policy is here. Trandra (talk) 15:44, January 13, 2017 (UTC)

Hello! After a discussion with relative staff regarding the redesign of your main page, I had a question regarding the current navigation/content area. We want to design something for you that eliminates the box of massive links, and combines it with the icon section - but still makes the most important information readily available to your users. The tabbed box from Civilization Wiki is certainly a possibility but there is another example you might like even better. Take a look at the top navigation box at Dragon Age Wiki. This is also something we could easily accomplish and it is visually appealing. We have high rez images we can use for this.
Do us a favor, and take another look, this time at all three examples and let us know which feature you like the most on any of them. Once we have this information, we will work on a mock-up that we can then share with you. Thanks! Pinkachu (talk) 23:28, January 27, 2017 (UTC)

Hello! Is there any policy regarding non-registered user contributing to this wiki? As per Kallini:_Ardat-Yakshi_Monastery history page it seems so. Can you give the reason why you reverting it again and again? I just documented as it happened ingame. 15:49, February 2, 2017 (UTC)

there -is- a policy against using another IP address to circumvent your block. there -is- a policy against editwarring which you are keen to do so despite the numerous warning reverts. there -is- a policy to discuss issues on talkpages instead of engaging in edit warring.
this is your final warning to take the hint and read up on the guidelines. you have no excuse for not doing so, it is linked literally on your talkpage and on the top navigation bar.
now, your changes are always undone because they're unnecessary and irrelevant to the acquisition section. that is strictly for how the mission is acquired and nothing else. there's already a note right below explaining what's what. Community Council

Hey Temporaryeditor78. I'm Brandon from Fandom's Community Support team. As the most active admin here on Mass Effect Wiki, I'd like to invite you to join our Community Council. This is the group where we post features and announcements early to collect early user feedback that helps shape what the final product looks like. We think you'd be a great fit, and there's a project I'd love to talk to you about once you're in the Community Council. Would you be interested? If so, I can email you more information about how to join, using the email address in your Fandom account. Let me know on my talk page or via email ( Thanks! - Brandon Rhea(talk) 22:59, February 23, 2017 (UTC)

I would highly suggest looking over Temp's talk page about his history of banning people without warning, almost never giving a description or reason for his edits or reverts, and his blatant abusive, flaming, trolling behavior towards others. Please look at his talk page from last year or the year before as well as his edit history. He is terrible to this community.

Hey, just wondering if we had any templates for the ME:A stuff yet like adversaries, planets, etc.? Also, what's the template to rename? Isn't it move? Muchas gracias. TheUnknown285 (talk) 04:22, March 1, 2017 (UTC)

it's {newpagename}. the only templates thus far are for spoilers, weapons and the discovery comic as 1) they were borne out of necessity and 2) the datasets bioware provided on them can stand on their own. 10:40, March 1, 2017 (UTC)
Alright. I'm almost done adding enemies (at least the ones we've seen so far), so let me know when the enemies template is done and I'll add it to the pages. TheUnknown285 (talk) 16:47, March 2, 2017 (UTC)

Andromeda Galaxy Page

I was going to create a page for the Andromeda Galaxy but notice you had deleted two previous articles for "jumping the gun." Is it time yet to make an article? I wanted your blessing first before I made an article. TheUnknown285 (talk) 19:01, March 3, 2017 (UTC)

Habitat Pages

So are we making pages for the Habitat pages besides 7? We have a couple of lines for each but didn't know if that was sufficient. Also worried they will have their own names (I suspect H1 is Elaaden). TheUnknown285 (talk) 01:28, March 7, 2017 (UTC)

probably not yet. as you pointed out there's a possibility of overlap, there's only a bunch of lines about them already covered by the verbatim blurbs, and as we will probably see later the briefing images are hilariously out of date with the real deal. 06:41, March 8, 2017 (UTC)

Andromeda Trophies

Just came out. I would've tested it out myself, but I figured you'd might have better experience in making an article about them. [2]--Observer Supreme 23:03, March 8, 2017 (UTC)

If you have any doubts to the veracity of that list, Mike Gamble tweeted to avoid reading the achievements list if you want to avoid spoilers. Ian Frazier retweeted that warning. To me, that indicates that the list Observer Supreme linked (which thus far is the only I've seen) is correct. TheUnknown285 (talk) 14:50, March 9, 2017 (UTC)

telling people not to read something isn't an admission that that something is true. establishing the latter is still a different matter. ask any lawyer and i ain't even one. 23:12, March 9, 2017 (UTC)
Even if not yet confirmed, it's a good base for a sandbox (just to be ready when MEA comes out). However, it's for someone who is not afraid of Spoilers (which I'm not!).--DeldiRe (talk) 13:02, March 10, 2017 (UTC)

Modernizing the wiki

You mentioned on my talk page about Wikia modernizing the wiki from under the hood, I assume it's something to do with using their new portability markup to update our templates to be mobile friendly? If that's the case, there's plenty of work to update our templates, especially the infoboxes, to the new markup (I've been reading this). But by the looks of it, this will alter the design of our infobox in order to port over to the new markup.  teugeneTalkContr 08:11, March 10, 2017 (UTC)

tried giving that a go back when it was new but i simply hadn't the time to think on it more. fishtank did a runthrough on some of our templates, i get the basic logic of what he's doing (which apparently retains much of our design choices), although i've no idea if he's finishedT̴̴͕̲̞̳̖̼̱͒͛̎͒ͫ̃ͧeͩ̈̽̈҉͓̝̰̼̦̫̤̀͠m̫̪̪̯̻͎̫̅̇̓̇͌̚p̸̙̝̓̓͌ͨ͆ͣͥ̂̕o͒̽͐̽͏̞̬̻͕͔͕͚̰͍͠͞ṙ̢̞͚͈̹̰ͨ̓ͭ̈́̌ạ̢̧̪̹̺̺̣̹̲͂͆̏ͪͨ͒ͭř̹͈͜͠y̷͍̻̜̹̼̾̽̈́e̵̹̼̟̦͚͐̈́͌͘d͉̲̣̻͉̱͗̅ḭ̷̻̆͋̆̓̔͝t̨͍̦̫̗͂̅̍̋̆ͩ͝ộ̫̟̬̳̝̲̾ͫ̒̿ͮ̑̚rͯ̎ͨͭ̄̿̽͛҉̠̫̱̠̘̘̲́ͅ7̩̻ͤͩͨ͝͡8̜̣̙͇̻ͨ͛͛̆͒̆̽̒͐͜͡ ͥ̍̉̃̇ͥ̓ͨ͏̕҉̥̹͓̗̤̠̖̤ (talk) 13:35, March 11, 2017 (UTC)
Some design can be retain though it won't exactly be the same. Some CSS are not possible with the current structure. Not that it is a bad thing but moving ahead, it means we have to think simpler infoboxes design... especially when MEA releases. I'm experimenting with the markup myself and see what I can achieve.  teugeneTalkContr 15:08, March 11, 2017 (UTC)

Mind if I jump in here? Some of the more interesting CSS is actually possible, such as Template:Adversary (Draft) and Template:Weapon (Mass Effect 3) (Draft). Some of it has less to do with CSS and more to do with how the data is structured, like the multiple levels at Template:Weapon_(Mass_Effect_2) in "Damage Multipliers". And some are more data presentation oriented, like the lifebars (which, for maximum accessibility, should have a text alternative ). I've got quite a few drafts at Special:Insights/nonportableinfoboxes that are ready to go. Sorry that I haven't been communicating as much as I could be, but I wanted to make sure these were just right before I reached out. FishTank (wall) 16:33, March 13, 2017 (UTC)

Hey there! Thanks for the work you've done. From what I can see, it looks good and ready to go! I could learn some a thing or two from you! Will you be working on other templates in the future as well?  teugeneTalkContr 06:54, March 14, 2017 (UTC)
And while we are on the topic, what do you think about using Modules to simplify certain templates, especially the unwieldy ones with sub-templates?  teugeneTalkContr 07:04, March 14, 2017 (UTC)
Thanks! My intention was to cover the infoboxes that cover more than 100 articles and consult on (or migrate) any new ones you need for Andromeda (including a new theme for the MEA infoboxes). There are a few more I can do quickly and easily, as they use your existing theme (I called it Theme1, but it's based on galaxy-details and I didn't want to override or misname it). I'd rather reserve Lua / Module use for when it's really needed; in some cases it can have key benefits, but in others it's "just another language to learn" and I don't want to leave you with something you can't maintain. FishTank (wall) 19:19, March 14, 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the assistance. We will adjust/rename the theme if needed as we go along. As for the Modules, one of the particular application in mind is to simplify the PowerDetails value inside the adversary templates.  teugeneTalkContr 10:14, March 15, 2017 (UTC)

Is anything seen in actual, verifiable footage of Andromeda fair game to add to pages, or are we restricted to only official videos as srouces until launch day? I found a few spoilery details I want to add that come from a journo with the review code. Also, how will the early access trial on Thurs be handled? Add everything I see or hold off? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ((╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻) 22:52, March 14, 2017 (UTC)

for now, journalistic outlets (ign, gamespot etc) yes. random schmucks no. vids uploaded by anyone after early access, yes, but priority sourcing from news sources.
referencing required for everything until about a week or so after launch when everybody can roughly discern obvious bullshit from real news. Sorry about the separate section, I'm trying avoid triggering this filter that keeps blocking me from commenting on your page. It says it detected a slur but I don't know how.

I was going to ask if my source qualified as a journalist outlet but you approved an anon's edit to the Ark page that came from the same source, Video Game Sophistry. sorry about the slur filter lel. that one came from me above and the filter so happens to be very restrictive (it doesn't discern between text already in the page and your reply, so everything gets blocked at submit). issue will resolve on its own for you in a few days or so.
i took a quick look at the vid's maker, doesn't appear to be some random leaker, so it's fair game. 09:47, March 15, 2017 (UTC)

Cool, boss. And boy was that filter pesky. Tried to post hours ago but no matter how often I reworded my comment I kept getting blocked. Regarding my edits to the Nexus page, I got two different spoiler videos that confirm my edit regarding Tiran Kandros as leader of the Nexus militia but cannot into wikia so I don't know how to make that little number box that links to the source. Here are the links though, the time is when in the video he confirms his identity and title, the info about Tann should be in those videos soon and I'll get you the exact time he appears ASAP.

If you pm me with the wiki code I need to cite these sources I will take care of the re editing for you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Illusive Man 2 (talk · contr).

just put in the source in the edit summary box. this close to release we can't have people claiming all sorts of things without evidence to back it up as the public can't yet verify for themselves.

So, while searching for ME:A music, I found what appear to be the closing credits for the game. It's weird that someone has already seen them given that most of the playthroughs thus far are capped at a certain level. But they certainly look legit. Do you think it's okay to fill in the voice actors for roles that we're still missing like Kesh, Addison, etc.? TheUnknown285 (talk) 01:57, March 16, 2017 (UTC)

Heads up about minor edit to CSS

Hi. A co-worker noticed that a small bit of code on Wikia.css and Common.css was causing the wiki's logo to be pushed down a bit and be misaligned with the local navigation menu. The specific code was very old and, because the current default CSS that applies to h2 headings on articles is more specific, the removal of this snippet of code will have no effect on articles. Start of Page Header Test

Hey Temporaryeditor78!

The next stage of our Wiki Modernization project is to test the page and article headers, which you can read about here. We'll begin running this test on Thursday this week.

Like we said in the blog, here's what we'll be looking at in the test:

How do readers interact with the new headers? We'll look at the number of clicks on header links, as well as how many people use the new headers vs the old ones. What do editors think of the new design? We'll gather feedback and interaction data from you, ask follow-up questions, and do our best to understand your needs. We want a design that works well for everyone.

We want help from you and your community in figuring out if we got it right or what potential areas for improvement might be. Feel free to comment on both the reader and editor side of the header designs. We especially want to know what you think as an editor. Please leave any feedback for me here on this thread.

You are also welcome to share this information with your community, that way they are aware of the changes that have been made. Springteufel (talk) 20:50, March 20, 2017 (UTC)

ok then. i'll help spread the word once this goes live. videos are apparently live now, i'll put that on the agenda as well. 04:23, March 21, 2017 (UTC)

So after looking at the talk page I think I understand why you did what you did. I do believe it should be specified on the page somewhere that it is just about the NPC version of the character otherwise people will confuse it like I did with the playable character.

Navigation Bar

Hello, I wanted to get your ideas about the top level navigation bar. I saw the blog post from you made regarding this issue and just wanted to make sure I knew what your intentions were before I continued adding content.

Do you wish to replace the game guides, as used for ME1-3, with this Super Walkthrough page? I've already setup a guide page, mission page and it looks like someone setup a combat page too. Do you want those all accessed via the Super Walkthrough page? Do you even want a guide page at all? Do you want the missions page which is used for ME1-3 to also have Andromeda missions on it? Currently the guide, mission and combat pages have no way to be accessed via the top level navigation bar, is that your intent?

I'm interested to hear your thoughts when you are able to respond. AnuChemicalCo (talk) 01:40, March 25, 2017 (UTC)

Most of my questions above have already been answered by another admin. I would still like to hear your thoughts on the Super Walkthrough page though.

apologies for the delay. dealing with some personal stuff.
the guides and the super walkthrough, despite covering similar topics, are still distinct in a way. super walkthrough is part of Fandom's deal with EA for cross-promotion purposes, and i think we're supposed to lay off changes to them until after a few weeks or so.
mind you, my initial pitch for it is to function as a sort of table of contents / portal to the guide and various andromeda concepts. we'll see after a few weeks. Moon Template

I was going to add a page for one of the Andromeda moons and noticed that the moon template still automatically lists the galaxy as the Milky Way. It'll do this even if you specify Andromeda in the coding. Is there anyway you could update it? Thanks. New Bureaucrat Needed

Hey, I'm making this post on the other admins walls as well. I'd like some discussion on the forum post I made Forum:New_Bureaucrat_Needed. The wikia currently has no active bureaucrats which means no one that wants to become an admin can apply to do so. Would you be interested in taking that position? Your reason for blocking me

Hello Temporaryeditor78, on the community central wikia I got in contact with you for blocking me on this site for "war editting", I don't know if you read my reply, but I'm going to say it again here so you actually see it.

First of all, yes I did try to edit that image last year, but it was reverted for no reason given, so I figured it must have been because I was using a hd textures mod and the characters weren't in their default outfits, so okay I understand you there, last years image was a modded image and it couldn't be used as it wasn't in vanilla quality, fair dues.

But this time it wasn't a modded image it was a complete vanilla image, did you even check the image to show that it wasn't modded? The image was not modded whatsoever, it was an exact vanilla image, and I can confirm that it was in a fact a vanilla image. Your reason for blocking me is yet again false. You had no right to block me.

Also you cannot use something that happened a year ago as a reason to block me now, that just sounds so far fetched and looks like a desperate way of finding a reason to getting me blocked. You had no right to block me and your reason right there is completely untrue, the image is not modded, it is in fact vanilla, sure last years image was modded but I changed it to have full vanilla quality I even double checked to make sure none of the files in the squad selection menu were modded to be different from the vanilla ones, so by the wiki's guidelines that image was acceptable. Did you even look at the image before deciding to just go out of your own way and block me for a mistake that I made a year ago?

Also, allow me to just point something out for you since you clearly don't know what "war editing" means, war editing is where two people start undoing each other's edits back and fourth under every minute. Last year I edited it twice, but after getting reverted twice I realised that it wasn't an acceptable image so I stopped considering I KNEW it would be considered war editing. When I came back into playing ME3 again and whilst the game was still in it's vanilla state for me, I snapshot the full squad menu and go to edit what I tried A YEAR AGO with a non modded 1080p image so this time it isn't going against the wiki's guidelines as it is in vanilla quality this time and from a none modded game. Not to mention it was a different image.

My block has expired now, I hope next time you be careful with what you do on deciding just to block people whilst using far fetched evidence, because that isn't a good thing to do. Also, next time be sure to give people a warning or heads up as to what they are doing is wrong and don't just go out of your way and block them. Thank you for taking the time to read this --Kryalis (talk) 09:21, April 3, 2017 (UTC)

As someone who been block before by Temporaryeditor78, he doesn't give reason or explaining why. I had thought about seeing if we can rally support to removing him from his position.

Reporting Allen Knott

I don't know if you are aware, but an account named Allen Knott started a petition to remove your admin status. I found out that the petition can be thrown out because it was made by a too-new account, but more importantly Allen Knott also admitted to using a second account to get around your block on his first account, which is sock puppeting and deserves a permanent block for both accounts. These are the accounts:

I'm not going to say anything to you about whether the first block of him was right or wrong, you had your reasons for doing it and I hope they were good and you can live with them and the consequences, but Allen Knott has crossed a line to get back at you and broken wiki rules. If he was was the grieved (or is it aggrieved?) party before, he isn't now. Also I'm pissed off now that I got involved, it's all a bad experience. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ((╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻) 21:06, April 6, 2017 (UTC)

Really Deepspaceprobe? You think I deserve a permanent block because I had two accounts?--Allen Knott (talk) 21:11, April 6, 2017 (UTC)Allen Knott
That's the penalty isn't it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ((╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻) 21:12, April 6, 2017 (UTC)
Sock puppetry is the "improper purposes include attempts to deceive or mislead other editors, disrupt discussions, distort consensus, avoid sanctions, evade blocks, or otherwise violate community standards and policies." I don't think I did any of that. I didn't deceive or mislead anyone. The block (single) prevented me from contacting any other admins. So I freely admit I used my original account to be able to contact admins so discuss the issue. I freely admit I made only a single edit during my two weeks block. So do I deserve a penalty for that? Yes but I don't think a permanent block is deserve. Some points you had made had been right but your argument doesn't bottle to deal with the fact that Temporayeditor78 had done this to other, they was no warning giving to me before I was block, or that two previous attempt to remove Temporayeditor78 from his position had happened. --Allen Knott (talk) 21:35, April 6, 2017 (UTC)Allen Knott
Admins have the right to block you without warning if they want. If you broke a rule, they don't have to point it out to you. It may be bad form, but it is in no way abuse of power. You're on a hypocritical moral crusade over nothing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ((╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻) 21:48, April 6, 2017 (UTC)
If still waiting to be told what rule I broke. If I didn't break a rule then the block was unjust.--Allen Knott (talk) 21:52, April 6, 2017 (UTC)Allen Knott
Would you drop this whole stupid thing if Temporaryeditor78 tells you what rule you broke then? I don't think you will. You've already made it crystal clear that you don't think any rules apply to you. You are a troll and I can't believe I got sucked into this. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ((╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻) 21:58, April 6, 2017 (UTC)
Can you stop the naming call. Calling someone a troll is childish. Yes if Temporaryeditor78 explain to me why he block me and what rule I broke. I would let it drop for the time being. However, the issue of Temporaryeditor78 treatment of other still exist and will need to be dealt with. --Allen Knott (talk) 22:03, April 6, 2017 (UTC)Allen Knot
I'm not siding with anyone here, but Allen does have a point about Temporaryeditor78's way of punishing people, I mean he blocked me for a false reason which SHOULD be looked into. --Kryalis (talk) 09:15, April 7, 2017 (UTC)

don't be an ass about this. The guidelines about images aren't exactly strict... unless you'd like to change them to fit your pov. Case in point, Vetras current portrait is taken from a trailer. the current resolution is 1083 by 1098. The image I placed is 680 by 910. not much smaller at all, and only then because i've cropped it to better fit the definition of a portrait. If you are really concerned that that is still somehow too small, i can upload the 4k image instead.
We haven't even touched bases on why the wiki is still using Peebees initial trailer reveal look instead of what she actually looks like.
As for naming of the images, I can understand where you are coming from with it. I also know that you have the ability to rename them as well. GuerillaTech (talk) 02:54, April 8, 2017 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) few notes on the image:
  • The last but not least, has not much to do with any guidelines but the portrait of person itself. Peebee has a... "relentless" personality, in her own words, and that screenshot don't do her justice. The image is dull and lacks character. Considering that you can use Ansel, you could have taken a capture at a much better angle closer up, with better lighting, and a more interesting side of her personality (think photography portrait shots).
 teugeneTalkContr 03:12, April 8, 2017 (UTC)
thanks for responding, Teugene. it's a shame that you can't use ansel for cutscenes, because I certainly would have done that first. If Peebees personality is what the problem is... then why are my uploads (other than picture naming, which i plan to correct in future uploads) for Vetra, and Cora being reverted as well? If this is all about style and resolution... then many of the pages on the wiki need to be reevaluated then, including which was also used as an example in the guidelines page.
I hope this doesn't come across as hostile. I do plan on going through another playthrough in the near future, and if I take more images for the wiki, i'd like to have a clearer goal so I don't waste my time or yours. GuerillaTech (talk) 03:34, April 8, 2017 (UTC)
It's possible they don't have a gpu compatible with Ansel. AnuChemicalCo (talk) 03:30, April 8, 2017 (UTC)
GTX 1070 so i'm not sure what you're getting at. GuerillaTech (talk) 03:34, April 8, 2017 (UTC)
AnuChemical was referring to the screenshots taken for the trilogy. Ansel is a very new tech (only last year IIRC) that's not available during the trilogy. Thus whatever images taken during the trilogy was constraint to what is available back then - plain ol' print screen and a little low-res.
Anyhow, not all of your screenshots were reverted. Despite the naming issues, some of your images remained (although the lighting in those shots that remained are poor IMO and could be better). Peebee is just one example I used - she has an interesting personality but the image you uploaded portrayed her as dull and expressionless. And the Vetra and Cora's images which you uploaded aren't better than the existing images stylistically. Don't get me wrong, I'm not implying every image has to have a "personality" or "style". They are evaluated on a case by case basis.
Ansel is a great tool (which I happen to use too, so I know its limitations), but as with any other tool if it's not used to get you a superior shot, its a wasted potential. You might have better luck getting a great image using a normal screencapture during cutscenes (alt+f1 with Nvidia).  teugeneTalkContr 05:02, April 8, 2017 (UTC)
So basically use a cutscene screenshot for better lighting whenever possible... but there is more leeway with minor characters. GuerillaTech (talk) 16:21, April 8, 2017 (UTC)

Regarding removal of grammar edit in Reaper and Inali Renata.

Okay, so in the Inali Renata and Reaper pages you undid my edits where I changed British English to American English, and shields to kinetic barriers on the Reaper one. The majority of all articles on the wiki here I'ev come across uses American English, besides that the game itself spells defense as 'defense' not 'defence' - Shields and kinetic barriers being two of the same, the two being interchangeable in the Mass Effect universe but it usually leans towards kinetic barriers rather than shields. Regardless, the above argument is enough to say the edits should be allowed. --Theh5 (talk) 12:15, May 1, 2017 (UTC)

Edit: I took a look at the Bring Down the Sky DLC and Shepard mentioned ¨shields¨ - - rather than barriers so I am willing to let that one go but not the above one. --Theh5 (talk) 12:32, May 1, 2017 (UTC)

next time, read the whole thing. 15:09, May 1, 2017 (UTC)

Yeah. Regardless my edit wasn't faulty and since the game itself uses American English the edit only improved quality of the pages, it's more of an effort to revert the edits than leavihg them since they are correct. Now, the Manul of Style mentions that I shouldn't edit such details but if I wanted to go out of my way to edit articles I find from British English to American English, can I expect those edits to be reverted as well? From what I've seen the Wiki site normally settle an argument by choosing how to do it as the games itself does it and since the games are American English, I would really life the articles to reflect that. --Theh5 (talk) 18:46, May 1, 2017 (UTC)

Regarding the removal of my "leaked script" trivia pointers

Why were these removed? All the information is relevant. I honestly can't comprehend why this would be removed. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by ArchReaperN7 (talk · contr).

Legit sources? Devconfirmation? Where? Right, if you bothered to read up on site policies you would already know what this wiki's stance on leaks are. 08:22, May 2, 2017 (UTC)

The whole point of trivia is to provide additional information that pertains to a topic. The leaked script has been out for years now: you can search it up and find pages upon pages of Google search results that prove its existence.

Also, your removal of my edit on the Mass Effect: Andromeda main page was uncalled for. I updated the page: I don't see how that violates ANY policy whatsoever. If anything, last I checked, the policy of any wikia is to update it so it keeps up to date with all information as it flows. You've now restored it to a state PRE-RELEASE, therefore making it outdated. I'd like to see that explained in a reasonable context.

Also, your "legit source":

Reddit is not a valid "legit source". Please read this for an elaborate explanation.  teugeneTalkContr 08:56, May 2, 2017 (UTC)

Fair enough. However, out of the myriads of sources (including downloadable versions of the script itself, of which I own a copy. I highly doubt somebody would make a 1000 page long script just for an elaborate prank), this one is the most legitimate. Obviously, it will be nowhere on the sources needed, as a lot of this script was, in part, due to the leaked ending prior to Mass Effect 3's release (which is a well known FACT):

The question is not whether the leak happened or otherwise but to be 100% certain the supposed 1000 page script is in "pristine" condition. Imagine a scenario where one or two users come along with his/her own "most legitimate" leaked script that contains information that contradicts yours. Whose version should we believe?
In other words, we can't and probably will never be able to independently verify whether the person(s) who leaked had altered it in any way. And as you said so yourself, there are a "myriad of sources" out there. Thus we can't be certain too that you have a "pure" copy or if you have modified it yourself, except to take your word for it. Not implying that you are lying or doing anything in bad faith, but to allow this is to open a whole can of worms.
As it is, the only way that information from the leak can be inserted is if a valid source (say, one of the staff) provides a link to a script and mentions something like "yo ppl this is da real me3 leak!! have fun with it!! xoxo" ...Not in those exact words obviously, but you get the idea and why it's the only way to avoid uncertainties.  teugeneTalkContr 09:54, May 2, 2017 (UTC)

Okay then, fair enough. That makes sense. Although I do feel the script should be acknowledged at least in some respects.

But while we're on this topic, may I ask why my edit of the Mass Effect: Andromeda page was changed? All I did was update the information so it was current.

I can only guess but it's best that he clarifies the reason.  teugeneTalkContr 13:22, May 2, 2017 (UTC)

Avitus Rix Page

You can please explain to me what was wrong with the note I added Avitus Rix's page? It is not noteworthy that him and Marco are implied to be romantic partner?--Allen Knott (talk) 16:12, May 7, 2017 (UTC)Allen Knott

if you actually spent some time seeing how pages are formatted character bios do not have notes on them. 16:14, May 7, 2017 (UTC)
So would it be Trivia then? Because several characters pages had trivia? And Why don't character bios have notes?--Allen Knott (talk) 16:18, May 7, 2017 (UTC)Allen Knott
see the guidelines for what does or does not constitute trivia.
gay turians - or LGBT incidences, as a whole - aren't exactly noteworthy occurrences in or out of universe. the attitude there is "big deal, so what?" therefore, not trivia. 16:20, May 7, 2017 (UTC)
False! First in-universe, deside the Asari and the player (either Shepard/Ryder) there never been any example of homosexuality among the other species. The game make it clear that all species are attracted to the Asari and to the best of my knowledge we had seen only one example of human-male homosexuality, Steve and his husband. So I would argued showing two males Turian who could be LGBT would be noteworthy because it wasn't until Mass Effect 3 that male Shepard had gay romance options (Steven and Kaidan) which was a retcon. I mean it seem for the most part, other than the Asari the species mate with their own species. Other than the Asari and the player, again we had never seen a human/turian couple, a human/salarain couple, a human/krogan couple, a turian/quarian couple, etc.

--Allen Knott (talk) 16:32, May 7, 2017 (UTC)Allen Knott

using your own examples, are steeeve and his husband particularly persecuted or noted as highly unusual within the existing belief sets espoused in the franchise? or manshep/kaidan? femshep/traynor? ryders and co.? nyreen/aria (girl on girl in human eyes, but again, one is "monogender" asari)? any eyebrows/eyescales being raised? is there a proviso in turian/salarian/whatever culture explicitly forbidding or spotlighting same-sex relationships?
AGAIN, it isn't a big deal in-universe. alien examples are bound to show up sooner or later and treated as with human relationships: nobody gives a fuck unless a cultural norm actually makes it a big deal (if you subscribe to gavorn being gay due to that vid, there's that - except that also isn't an explicit admission). 17:17, May 7, 2017 (UTC)
No, there is no evidence that Steve and his husband are persecuted or highly unusual. However, you can assuming that the humans and Asaris are open and accepting to it but there is no evidence either way for the other species. Also, I would highly doubt if there are not still humans who would opposed it, even those they would be in the minority. Do we know how the Turian, Quarian, Krogan or Volus viewed homosexuality? No. There is no proviso that I'm aware of within Turian/salarian/other species that explicitly forbidding same-sex relationships. But that is no proviso or evidence either way. Again, all species are attracted to the Asari but we never seen for example a human/salarian regarding of gender.
I would argued that you're wrong because we don't know enough about the other species culture to determine how their relationship are structure. And if you're argued all species would had some LGBT members then that is simply your own personal bias. To the best of my knowledge there never been any gay-male Turians in the game. If you subscribe to Avita and Marco being gay there are the first in-game example of gay-male turians and that is noteworthy because Male Shepard/Scott Ryder had together two homosexual options (Steven and Gail), Female Shepard/Sara also had two homosexual options (Traynor and Suri). Most of Female Shepard/Sara female romance options are bisexual. So two gay-males turians are extreme rarely since we only had one example in-game. --Allen Knott (talk) 18:02, May 7, 2017 (UTC)Allen Knott

Nexus Locations

What's going on with the nexus locations pages? I see you reverted my page rename, my thinking was that adding "Nexus - " in front of those location names would help distinguish general locations like "Docking Bay" or "Operations" from other locations that may have the same name but not have anything to do with the Nexus. AnuChemicalCo (talk) 00:53, May 14, 2017 (UTC)

we don't label things like "Citadel - Wards" etc. what they're called is what they're called. 01:27, May 14, 2017 (UTC)
okay fine, my point was that it's possible two places could have the same nameAnuChemicalCo (talk) 01:31, May 14, 2017 (UTC)
if, for example, you want to differentiate between the nexus docking bay and the citadel docking bays (which all have proper names btw: Dock 422, Docks: Holding Area, etc), you put a for disambiguation header on top.
if the case is really unavoidable as in both share the same name, precedent on Delan and Delan (Mass Effect 2), Conduit and Conduit (Mass Effect 3), among other things. the important thing is the item is labeled as it's labeled in the franchise. 01:41, May 14, 2017 (UTC)
okay i see what you're saying. I was under the impression that Nexus - Common Area was actually what the game called it though. Such as in the below picture. AnuChemicalCo (talk) 01:59, May 14, 2017 (UTC)

you do realize that's a GUI naming convention, right?
then again, there' no reason to not use the basic labels as they aren't used yet and everything could be properly tagged by the conventions prescribed above. 02:05, May 14, 2017 (UTC)

Regarding the N7 & Varren page revets and spelling of words.

Well then, here I am again, feeling the need to ask a few questions: Of the N7 page I asked in the talk section to add more detail to the tests - no response. So I changed it, I can barely understand why the N7 ANN interview was removed from the trivia as it details the N7s first day, or at least Anderson's. It only add *trivia* to the N7 page, so why remove that? Aswell, why remove the headquote? The Spectre page has a similar quote and it only adds more weight to the page. Add to that, it is relatively true.

Then why revert the Varren page edit? Yes, it is hinted that the scale itch was transmitted with sex by a varren but even so, it could have been transmitted on to others who didn't have sex with varrens but instead had sex with patient zero. It is a sexually transmitted disease after all...

And lastly, I did ask this above on your talk page but I got no answer to my last question: While I now know that both British and American spelling is correct on this wiki, is it wrong for me to edit that anyways? The answer did say not to but is that the same as not allowed at the risk of punishment or in order to avoid trivial changes with no real impact?--Theh5 (talk) 05:01, May 24, 2017 (UTC)

  1. no headquotes and not trivia.
  2. not improvements. i am assuming you are over 15, the very minimum age rated for playing the franchise. learn basic spelling and grammar structures so as not to be mistaken for someone younger.
  3. what part of DO NOT CHANGE BRIT TO AMERICAN SPELLINGS (and vice versa) did you not understand? 10:43, May 24, 2017 (UTC)

But can you tell me *why*? Why not use any headquotes on the N7 page, the spectre page has one. Are there any specific reasons? Differences in the two pages, because of the nature and context of the quotes? Had you just provided a reason for the revert, much like many of your peers, I would not be here in confusion.

When referring to yourself the pronun ¨i¨ is capitalized. That works two ways. However, I do assume your grammar is more casual intentionally. And are you saying that the edits to the varren page were removed because of bad grammar or because it is not appropriate for speculation? - This could also have been answered in the ¨Edit summary¨.

The part not specifying if it was against the rules or if it was simply you saying not to. The difference would be: No rules - no problem. I'm also curious about the reverts of the changed spelling, the changes were technically not wrong even though, seemingly, the act of doing was wrong. Wouldn't it have been easier to let them stand or did you revert the edits to prevent unnecessary editing?--Theh5 (talk) 11:32, May 24, 2017 (UTC)

you are in no position to dictate how i write *outside* of mainspace articles.
headquotes on pages other than main characters are decided on a case by case basis. the n7 article wasn't given something then, and it isn't about to be given something now. and the rule on spelling is pretty clear on this, so don't bother.
just so you know, and as i've already pointed out numerous times before, reverts are automated one-click processes for saving time on otherwise wasted time checking edits that could've been prevented by simple consulting with the MOS. 11:48, May 24, 2017 (UTC)

That was not my intent, I thought it was obvious that I have no control over you. Your grammar is your own, but to correct mine and show poor grammar while doing it caused my response, regardless of the differences between this talk page and the article. Or if you were referring to the ¨Edit summary¨: If you'd care to read the talk page you'll note that very many are here asking why edits have been reverted. A simple reason would have prevented much, including this discussion. Something worth noting, maybe.

And had I know that I wouldn't have added the quote, I did even ask on the talk page - no response. As the Style of Manul suggests, I took initiative and added the change. I still do not understand why the quote was removed, if you'd indulge me and tell. I would appreciate that, telling me the why of it will help in deciding future edits. The Manual of Style, that I examined again, doesn't say any reason why *that* edit was removed. --Theh5 (talk) 12:48, May 24, 2017 (UTC)

rule of thumb: if people do not respond, do not take that as implicit approval. when in doubt, some sort of actual discussion needs to happen first before anything happens. lots and lots of free time is one thing i wish i have but i emphatically do -not- have. 13:01, May 24, 2017 (UTC)

Then perhaps the Style of Manual should be altered to not not suggest taking initative, to be bold. I would have preferred discussing aswell but I lacked a partner so it became a monologue. Actions allowed a discussion to finally take place, ironic and referencable to the biotic hostage holder in ME1. Aside from that, I thank you for allowing me to further fumble in ignorance; it is quite blissful. --Theh5 (talk) 13:32, May 24, 2017 (UTC)

Revert of Kallo Page

Hi - can I ask why the information on Kallo's especially keen photographic memory was eliminated from his page? It comes straight from ME:A's Codex.

Laura Bailey and IMDb

In our MoS, while we typically don't accept IMDb as a valid source, there is an exception to that as long as it is proven to be a confirmed source.

Now, in the case of Laura Bailey, what if at her website (confirmed by her Twitter page) links the full list of credits to her IMDb page? In addition to that, she also has a listing in the IMDb Pro version, where actors pays for their page. Both pages list Eva Core as one of her characters that she voices. IMO, this is a legitimate exception to me.  teugeneTalkContr 15:41, June 10, 2017 (UTC)

her twitter and personal site's considered legit. however, does she or any of her staff/associates actually take responsibility for maintaining the full credit list over at IMDB, e.g regularly pruning erroneous attibutions by other users and the like? i'm of the *opinion* she does, but the actual situation may differ. 15:54, June 10, 2017 (UTC)
As I understand from the pro site, it gives the actor/actress their own pro page to manage, thus should be considered an authoritative source. I'm unsure if the pro account has any bearing on the the info on the normal site, but it shouldn't matter.  teugeneTalkContr 16:22, June 10, 2017 (UTC)

editing 101++

Can you please revert the delete on Bartenders so that I can move the information I typed into it to another page. I don't know how to move the information to the relevant page now that it's been deleted. Please in the future just leave a note on my page and I'll make the correction so that we don't have to go through this again in the future.

On the subject of defaulting to male, again that is not my intention as I am well aware of the policy. At this point if it does happen it is simply a oversight and I will be happy to correct it when it is caught. AnuChemicalCo (talk) 17:42, June 11, 2017 (UTC)

Here's the info that was from the deleted page.
{{Infobox character

|name = Dutch Smith & Anan T'Mari
|class = Bartender
|gender = Male & Female
|appearances = Mass Effect: Andromeda

Dutch and Anan are the resident drink mixers at the Vortex Lounge, the preferred hangout and socializing club on the Nexus. Together these two manage and serve the patrons that frequent the bar. Dutch is more uptight and serious than his counter part Anan, the pair make for an interesting conversation.

Ryder can approach Dutch and request several drinks, each time he'll offer him a new concoction as well as a new entertaining exchange between Dutch and Anan. Finally, Dutch will offer Ryder a newly made drink called a Lucky Leprechaun, if Ryder chooses to consume it, he'll fall to the floor and wake up sometime later in a different location inside the lounge.

Information regarding Wreav's fate and your attitude

Your reverts are denying the information to Wreav's fate on his character page, his fate SHOULD be added just like all other characters have, and the information before hand does not include his fate. I am adding this information from speculation and I have linked proof, I have read the guidelines and they in fact say "If the speculation refers to an unreleased game or novel, put a link at the end of the sentence to an interview or article supporting that speculation." I linked the ending files that prove Wreav's fate, which you are denying for some asinine reason and also went ahead and insulted me, saying I have "shit grammar" just because I spelled "Krogan" wrong, so stop with the immaturity, and another thing, if my grammar was in fact awful then couldn't you just shown the courtesy of changing it yourself instead of just reverting facts. And my information is in fact true because it comes from the Extended Cut DLC. And from looking at the titles of the files that show Wreav's ending does in fact show that the information is true, and even if it is speculation then regardless that is allowed because I linked my source, a source which I shouldn't even need to include because the information is IN THE GAME. If you don't believe the information simply because you haven't seen it then that does not mean it isn't true. One way or another the titles of the files link to Wreav, so he either dies from the genophage, goes to war, or faces Eve, so stop with the reverts because the information is true and I am following what is said by the guidelines listed on this wikia. --Kryalis (speak) 15:04, June 15, 2017 (UTC)

allow me insult your truly shit grammar again because it's "krogan" and not "Krogan" as per race caps guidelines.
your "linked proof" isn't worth shit. going by filenames alone what -can- be inferred is that slide happens if wreav is the leader and if the cure is sabotaged. where was it clearly stated that one of the corpses is wreav? right. playing the game, the slide actually plays if wrex is the leader and the cure is fake. all possibilities have been documented and verified elsewhere on the wiki ages ago and what you're adding is plain misinformation.
are we supposed to be impressed you datamined the files? newsflash: a lot of people can and i've been doing this way longer than you. so much for assuming i haven't seen this or any other variation thereof.
by the way, great job on getting yourself suspended from editing again. while we're quoting site policy, isn't it ALSO site policy to resolve disputed issues first before committing any changes to the article? enjoy the wiki at read-only mode and next time for starters try waiting for people to finish replying first. T̴̴͕̲̞̳̖̼̱͒͛̎͒ͫ̃ͧeͩ̈̽̈҉͓̝̰̼̦̫̤̀͠m̫̪̪̯̻͎̫̅̇̓̇͌̚p̸̙̝̓̓͌ͨ͆ͣͥ̂̕o͒̽͐̽͏̞̬̻͕͔͕͚̰͍͠͞ṙ̢̞͚͈̹̰ͨ̓ͭ̈́̌ạ̢̧̪̹̺̺̣̹̲͂͆̏ͪͨ͒ͭř̹͈͜͠y̷͍̻̜̹̼̾̽̈́e̵̹̼̟̦͚͐̈́͌͘d͉̲̣̻͉̱͗̅ḭ̷̻̆͋̆̓̔͝t̨͍̦̫̗͂̅̍̋̆ͩ͝ộ̫̟̬̳̝̲̾ͫ̒̿ͮ̑̚rͯ̎ͨͭ̄̿̽͛҉̠̫̱̠̘̘̲́ͅ7̩̻ͤͩͨ͝͡8̜̣̙͇̻ͨ͛͛̆͒̆̽̒͐͜͡ ͥ̍̉̃̇ͥ̓ͨ͏̕҉̥̹͓̗̤̠̖̤ (talk) 16:03, June 15, 2017 (UTC)

Now that I am unblocked, I am going to take this chance to confront you once more for that pathetic complete sensitive one month block you gave me. I know you’re just going to increase my block after fully reading this reply like the child you are, so I better enjoy my confrontation to you while it lasts, considering you really need help with your attitude. Also, don't bitch at me for any of the disrespect I will be giving you here, because you massively insulted me in the reply above, so this is my retribution, everything I’m going to say here is completely justified, which I don't expect you to see considering you are a power greedy admin.
You’re saying I have a “shit grammar” just because I uppercased the first letter on the word “krogan”, I don’t know if you’ve payed attention in English class, but whenever there is a name of something you ALWAYS put the first letter as an uppercased letter. Also, by your logic, you’re pretty much saying that you yourself have got “shit grammar” as well, because you are lower casing every first letter on a name and on every word that goes after a full stop, which you should ALWAYS uppercase the first letter after a full stop. So I think you need to go back to school in all honesty.
My linked proof does prove something you fucking retard… I’m not saying the dead krogan is definitely Wreav, I’m saying it MIGHT be Wreav because the title on the ending file mentions his name, which implies that the corpse is him, and yes I know it can also play out if Wrex is Urdnot clan leader but that may just be an oversight, or maybe it isn’t and the dead krogan isn't Wreav after all, who knows? Regardless though if you were reverting the edit just for that ONE mistake, then don’t you think that the smart thing to do was just remove that one part instead of reverting the whole thing? Because one way or another Wreav’s page needs some information regarding his fate as the Urdnot clan leader. All the other characters on this wikia have their fates included, so why can’t Wreav? Why leave him out specifically? Is it because you are too lazy to include it? I’m thinking you are lazy because it explains why you couldn’t even take it upon yourself to just take out that one “error” in the edit I made and just decided to revert the whole thing completely.
I’m not trying to impress anyone, how does going into a games file impress anyone? That’s like saying you can impress somebody just because you know the ingredients in certain food which is a really fucking retarded excuse to back yourself up on as well as a stupid way of insulting somebody. And for the record, why would I want to impress some over-dramatic admin such as yourself anyway? People like you need to grow up and accept the fact that people intend to find evidence of their own and like to speculate, WHICH IS FINE BY THIS WIKIA’S GUIDELINES RULES THAT I QUOTED IN MY FIRST REPLY! If anything I think it's YOU who is trying to impress people, based on your signature. It looks like something that a 10-year-old would make in an attempt to try and impress wannabe-coders, when in reality is just looks like crap, not to mention it's text goes over most of the words above it XD
Now before you go ahead and block me again, probably permanent this time, allow let me lecture you because you REALLY need it. You cannot go around insulting people for the most sensitive over-dramatic small edits that they did, if they did one small mistake then you don’t have to revert the whole thing, you can just take out or correct that small thing and the problem is solved. Also, your insults go against this wikias guidelines, I’m quoting something here that YOU and the other admins wrote Abusive language toward other users will also not be tolerated, particularly when it contains profanities or obscenities. When deciding how to respond to an editor's comments, consider how you would speak to a stranger face-to-face in public, as that is effectively what you are doing; if someone takes offense at your language it is best to stop. Violators will be warned, then banned for repeat violations (see below). The only time when otherwise forbidden language is permissible is when directly quoting a Mass Effect character in an article., see that? You wrote that dipshit, and yet you are going against it, so if you weren’t an admin and your admin buddies quit favouriting you, then you would be history from this wikia.
Now I’m assuming after reading my reply, you are probably throwing a mental breakdown right now and are going to not think twice about blocking me again, and all I’m going to say is go ahead! I don’t care, it’ll just add more proof that you are not admin material, although you probably don’t even know what that means, which I don’t care because there really is no hope for people like you. But I should mention something to you, even if you perma block me from this wikia, then I can just make a new account and edit here that way, and even if you perma block my IP address then I can just go to my friend’s house and make a new account and edit there, so regardless you won’t be able to keep me from this wikia with a simple perma block, hell you probably won’t even reply to this reply as a way of trying to make yourself look like tough shit by being ignorant, but we all know in reality that you know I’m right and can’t think of something to reply back to me, you might as well even remove this whole reply from your talk page for that matter, but that won’t change anything considering people can just look through your talk pages edit history, not only that, removing someone’s opinion from your talk page will just make you look like a sad person, which we all know you are because that block you gave me proves it :P
But what the hell am I saying? I don’t think I even want to edit on this wikia anymore because of you, a guy who blocks people for the smallest reasons, you are giving this wikia a bad reputation, I bet your admin buddies feel so embarrassed and ashamed that you are doing this and feel upset that they don’t want to get rid of your admin status because they have some kind of favouritism toward you (if not favouritism then it must be some deal they've worked out with you, or they aren't doing anything about you for some reason I can't fathom), I feel real sorry for them. Ah well, either way I don’t care, because I’m not coming back to this wikia regardless if you decide to block me, so I will see you later :)
May help come to you soon, because you really need it :P

Thank you for the help on the editing. I was using what was already on the pages as a template for how to get the note to be yellow or the warning in red, etc. Being a noob at the editing, I was using the wiki text that shows up already in the guide as a guide to adding that in another place. I will remove the double note/note etc going forward.

Also, I didn't want to write over the top of others strategies / remove them to complete battles if their play styles aren't careful/cautious like mine. Some people just like playing it hard. Playing through on insanity, I'm using this wiki for help along the way. As I find things that make this process easier, I for sure want to share those out. Some of the wikis are missing things that make battles so much easier.

Not everyone knows to go to the talk pages to learn extra tips and longer discussions. I only found that portion on accident myself. The wiki pages come up on the internet search so it makes sense to me to have pay details in that place and then all of the small talk, glitch stuff, etc on the talk pages. I do agree with you to not put everything every other paragraph. I'm trying to put things that I found useful that others would use as well. I'm being mindful of years of history that have gone into this huge wiki and I don't want to step on any toes.

I'm trying to fix things that I find as I'm doing my insanity playthrough. Inconsistent call outs for items / resources / names etc. Small details but things that should just be put right. When it's a medical station, not a med-kit, etc.

I know you've done tens of thousands of edits so I really do appreciate your help. If there is anything you see in the future that I should or shouldn't do, please let me know.

I'll go back and fix all of the pages I've updated that have the double note/note etc. At the same time I'll correct the places that are incorrect without my editing. I'll also go back and change all of the sections where I put "General Tips / Insanity Tips" to "General Combat Strategy / Insanity Combat Strategy" where it applies. If it really is a quick one item thing, then it's a tip like you said. Otherwise it is a strategy and should be called that.

This will take me a few days but I'll update them as soon as possible.

```` TEMP,
For some reason, deleting the first note from note|note like you spoke to me about breaks the template. It doesn't show up as the correct color but instead shows up in red with the word "Template:(then the text)". You can see this problem on the N7: Blood Pack Base mission (the previous edit I completed). I undid the edit but the version is there so you can see it.
The edit software is doing this on it's own. I'd gladly fix the doubles but for some reason it won't let me. I'll still fix the strategy / tips problem.
```` Temporaryeditor78,

I completed updating all relevant "tips" edits I added and changed to combat strategy where applicable. A tip is a single salient point. A strategy is a solution proven with experience. I removed a few redundant spots as well.

I was unable to fix the double note|note problem as mentioned before but will try in the future to have all edits with the single version (if possible).

I appreciate your help with teaching me about editing this wiki and I will carefully craft all edits going forward.

Thanks for all of your help

there are a few things you can do (and a lot of things you can't) on walkthroughs. the few things you can, you can consult in the manuals of style. one very big no-no is to write as if only -your- playthrough experience matters - ALL points of view are considered, or failing that, as many as possible. another is claiming bug x exists without checking if at least 2 other people reported on it on talkpage or page histories.
on templates: leave as is unless you know what you're doing, but it's not really hard to use anyway:
note , insert text here etc.

Test Template

Hi, thanks for deleting the test template. As I read your message I would like to let you know that I just followed the guide at BangoGerstfeld (talk) 17:24, August 25, 2017 (UTC)

Kite's Nest Problem

There is a problem with the Kite's Nest page. (I saw you had reverted back to a previous version but I didn't want to undo your undo without asking for help first)

The hyperlink for "Kite's Nest" is the first word in the sentence after the cluster details "} }" brackets. This forces the line up onto the previous line. I have it in text below. It looks like a double word typo but it isn't.

Location: Milky Way / Kite's NestKite's Nest is the batarian home cluster. It contains the batarian homeworld Khar'shan, situated in the Harsa system.

The only way I could get the line to not go up onto the previous line was to remove the hyperlink from the first word and then everything was fine. I didn't want to change the text or add something before the hyperlink as I don't see anything wrong with it.

I tried putting a space before the hyperlink but it brought up this weird box thing.

Do you know how to fix this type of problem so that it doesn't go up onto the previous line while still having the hyperlink as the first word? I've looked at other pages and most have text before the hyperlink so this thing doesn't happen.

Thanks for your help and advice. It's a silly little edit but to me it just looks like crap squished together. Took me a few tries to find a work around but I was unsure of an actual "correct" fix. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk · contr).

strange indeed. seems to be a recent backend problem since the text wasn't broken last time i checked (months ago. or years. don't remember). text rewrite workaround for now. Thanks for the confirmation and fix Temporaryeditor78. I wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one seeing this issue. I've randomly seen this happen in other edits I've done in the past couple of weeks so I always just rewrite the text to have a typed word before a hyperlink so it doesn't show up. (I'm sure it's out there in other places.) Is there a place to share this type of info so that others can learn about the problem? Or is it something that can be fixed on the backend by yourself / other admins so it goes away permanently? Thanks again.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk · contr).

Equipment Guide (Mass Effect 3) Confusion

Stopping effort on updating Equipment guide (Mass Effect 3). It looks like I was updating while you were reverting. I didn't see your undos as I was fixing things until after I was done with a portion. I tried to undo my edit I posted but you got to it first.

I wasn't trying to annoy you. I didn't see your post or your undos until after the fact.

After losing a bunch of time and effort trying to fix what I lost on the update I did this morning, I'm just going to stop at this point. I was pissed I lost 2 hours work and was trying to fix things that were clearly in need of update without taking policy into account (per your message). I saw the page needed review/update per the tab at the top and I was fixing away obliviously.

Sorry for the confusion. I understand the mistakes I made. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk · contr).

you were already changing the way how the info is presented. that already counts as making major changes. such things require a sandbox page minimum, a project proposal, further adjustments as needed AND a voting period before anything gets done. too much red tape, sure, but ensures less mucking about on the page itself. Any specific reason why Drinks was reverted?

Feel free to not answer. Giving a reason will really help, here or there. I can assume why the reversion went ahead but not truly know. - You know, if you feel up for it. Other-wise, I'll be back in a month or two (for unrelated reasons, predicting the future). --Theh5 (talk) 16:48, September 11, 2017 (UTC)

  1. try spelling properly without relying on others to correct your mistakes. i don't care how illiterate or dyslexic you get on normal discourse, as long as you do it right on articles themselves.
  2. honey mead is not hyphenated, then it does not get hyphenated. patriarch's variant can be mentioned as an -alternate- form, not as the proper name for the item itself. Talk: Collector Ship (mission) - Contents Section Is Broken

I found a problem that I am unable to fix on the Talk: Collector Ship (mission) page.

When you click on the Contents (show) button, nothing happens and it just clicks/moves upwards slightly.

I tried looking at other pages to see what it would take to have the contents show up correctly but I can't see what is wrong. Everything looks the same as compared to another page with a working Contents section.

The sections names look correct with the double equal signs in purple. The Subject/headlines look correct with the star slash (headline) star slash.

I tried to add a new section from a known working contents section matching it exactly the same but the issue didn't resolve itself. (I reverted the change.)

Can you fix the contents section so it shows the contents/headlines correctly? Also, can you show me what I am missing so I could fix an issue like this in a future?

I know it's not a big deal, it's just annoying to find a page that has many talk edits (148 and counting) and no easy way to navigate through them without scrolling down endlessly.

Thanks for your help. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk · contr).

my bad for not getting into this earlier. life happens.
as for your problem, that's on wikia itself and we can't do anything about it. probably has cleared up by itself by now.
lastly, your edit to the article itself was scrubbed because it's too redundant to what was already written it's NOT a bug confirmation issue, it's keeping it clean and simple. Thank you for letting me know that it's not something I can fix. You are right, it looks like the content section now works in the archive section you created. If I see the problem again, I'll let you know.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk · contr).
Just a quick FYI. Let me take the "it's working" comment back. I know it was working late last night, now it looks like it stopped again when I went to look at something on the talk page this morning. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk · contr).

Talk Page Isn't Working Correctly

Temp, your talk page isn't working correctly. For some reason, I can edit this conversation but trying to add a new message is giving me the error that I violated the "Slur Filter". I tried just putting a simple word of "test" and it's doing the same error thing. I can't add anything at all.

I put this here as I am unable to send a message to you any other way. You can delete this subsection as soon as it isn't needed any more.

My new post / question for you is listed below:

ME3 Multiplayer Level Points Question

Do you know of a page or any place in this wiki that discusses the specifics of Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer points/level information? I wasn't able to find it but I may be missing it totally.

I think it's useful information and I'm sure others wanting to play multiplayer would benefit from having some detail about the levels / information. It wouldn't have to be some big detailed thing though. Simple, fast, easy to find info.

Example of what I was thinking: (Grammar and specific word is not correct. I would need to confirm that I'm calling the items out the right way, etc)

Multiplayer Level Information / Points Information

As you gain new levels in multiplayer, you are awarded additional points to allocate to your powers. Below is the points awarded per level. Note: The first playthrough with a character 1 point is already allocated. If you promote(insert link to character promotion on the ME3 page) the character, the previously allocated point will now be available to allocate at level 1.

Level 1: 2 points Level 2-6 3 points per level Level 7-12: 4 points per level Level 13-16: 5 points per level Level 17-20: 6 points per level

84 total points are available when you reach Level 20. Note: Each skill tree requires 21 points to reach the sixth version of the power.

(Maybe overkill but a level by level breakdown of points available as well? Maybe a nice table for visual appeal?)

Level 1: 1 point Level 2: 4 points Level 3: 7 points Level 4: 10 points Level 5: 13 points .... Level 20: 84 points

It is not possible to max out all powers with the 84 points available. 105 points would be needed to reach full powers maxed out. Using all of the 84 points, filling the skill trees for 4 of the powers and leaving 1 power with no points uses the most points available. Shown as (6/6/6/6/0). You can also allocate as (6/6/6/5/3) to use all 84 points as well.

Leaving 1 point unspent, you can allocate (6/6/6/4/4). Leaving 2 points unspent, you can allocate (6/6/5/5/4). Leaving 3 points unspent, you can allocate (6/5/5/5/5).

Note: Points unused don't necessarily mean that the character build is inefficient. Depending upon the race, character class, and play style, choosing to not use all points but filling more powers can be a better use of points.

I don't know if it is a new page or if it should go onto the existing multiplayer page as a new section in the right place.

I do know that if the page doesn't exist or if I want to make a large change, I have to create a proposal, make a sandbox version, etc. (I would ask for your help before I start to make sure I don't waste your time, my time, and the wikis time either).

Before I get ahead of myself, do you know if it exists someplace in this wiki?

Thanks in advance.

not how it's done

How is it done? I asked for advice and instructions here: BangoGerstfeld (talk) 20:59, October 1, 2017 (UTC)

you want to use a map, stick it to the eos article itelf. except you can't since 1) that will require a forum proposal to amend the manual of style for planet pages and 2) the map feature hasn't been yet cleared for use in this wiki. and it will require hi-res high quality images for starters. not shit jpegs. Ah, ok.
What does this mean: "the map feature hasn't been yet cleared for use in this wiki." Does this mean that maps for planets are not welcome?
Otherwise, is there a defined procedure to follow to submit a forum proposal? Some policies for topic name or something? Is the process for forum proposals described?
