welkambak and wassup[edit source]

you planning to stick around for a while? wikia itself have been trying to modernize the wiki from under the hood. they're also talking with EA on stuff. if you have inputs/questions/suggestions you can always ask the staff guys lurking about. (somewhat urgent) consult[edit source]

do you have a couple of minutes to spare for today? would like to ask your feedback on something staff wanted our opinion on: ads/video testing on the wiki. you can offer an opinion now, or we can discuss this at chat (just say when, UTC +8). Sorry for the late reply. Was pretty occupied yesterday. I can discuss for a while now if you need to but I suspect you are probably in a different time zone from me (I'm in GTM+8). Was about to email you to send a private message but it's disable...though I recall it was not. We could use a quicker method of communication if you need to contact urgently.  teugeneTalkContr 06:41, March 14, 2017 (UTC)
no worries, we both have mouths to feed so it's understandable. wikia shut down emailing years ago due to not many people using it. we're practically in the same timezone in case you're wondering, and i have a tab on the wiki open for the rest of the day, so if you're around just hop in on Special:Chat. Planet and system templates[edit source]

Hello, I noticed you work the site's code. Another editor pointed out to me a problem with Template:PlanetDetails and Template:SystemDetails. Bothe templates display Milky Way as the galaxy for a planet or system by default, and I can't find anything in the templates to change this for Andromeda location pages. I don't know if the current templates can be updated to allow Andromeda as an option or if new templates are needed. I was thinking that the templates could be edited to show Milky Way by default if the parameter for galaxy is left blank but overriden if anything else like Andromeda was entered, since this would avoid having to manually update all of the Milky Way planets and systems pages to use a new parameter. You get what I'm going for? If you could help with this or find another solution it would be great. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ((╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻) 07:00, March 16, 2017 (UTC)

Got that fixed for ya. Just add "galaxy = Andromeda" after the "cluster" parameter for both templates.  teugeneTalkContr 10:51, March 16, 2017 (UTC)

Thanks dude, you're a wizard! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ((╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻) 22:15, March 16, 2017 (UTC)

Question regarding the Andromeda Galaxy planets and system. I am aware of the Planets article for the trilogy but we were hoping that a similar separate page would be created for the Andromeda planets. Maybe Planets_(Mass Effect: Andromeda). With the new game in a new galaxy entirely, I personally believe this would make the most sense. I can help with this if needed. Pinkachu (talk) 07:56, March 18, 2017 (UTC)
I share the same sentiment as you. As you said, it's a completely new galaxy after all and IMO, all ME:A only information should be separated from the current trilogy articles, which includes the celestial objects pages, and to a greater extent, missions, romances, and the likes. For now, please do proceed with the creation of the new pages that you mentioned, I will discuss on the latter pages on a separate topic. We could use all the help we can!  teugeneTalkContr 11:27, March 18, 2017 (UTC)

Nav Bar Needs Andromeda[edit source]

Hello! I chatted with Temporaryeditor78 yesterday in regards to the navigation bar. He mentioned he and you had talked about it as well, and that you had an idea for it. I think a Mass Effect Trilogy heading with the three games under it would definitely make enough room at the second level for Andromeda. We would really like to see this happen by Monday. If you don't think you will have time, let me know and I can do it. Thanks! Pinkachu (talk) 07:39, March 18, 2017 (UTC)

On a side note, I will be around to help with content next week. I have created articles already but as part of our agreement with EA, we (staff, not your community) have been asked to limit our information reveals until launch. After launch, I will be helping out for at least the first two weeks, if not longer. Thanks for coming back! Ping my wall if you need anything from us. Pinkachu (talk) 08:06, March 18, 2017 (UTC)
Yup I do! Here's the rough idea off the top of my head.
The short term idea: Create two new tabs - Mass Effect: Andromeda and Mass Effect trilogy. Under the ME trilogy tab, merge/simplify all Mass Effect trilogy links instead of separating them by the games (eg. just Missions link instead of Missions#Mass Effect, Missions#Mass Effect 2, Missions#Mass Effect 3 that it is now in the nav bar), and finally move the "Universe" and "Other Media" to the ME trilogy tab.
To visualise, it would look something like below:
  • Mass Effect: Andromeda
    • Missions
    • Romance
    • etc, etc
  • Mass Effect trilogy
    • Gameplay info
      • Enemies
      • Missions
      • Assignments
      • Talents
      • Powers
      • Romance
      • Equipment
      • Romance
      • Weapons
      • Achievements
      • etc etc
    • Universe
      • All the current universe links
    • Apps
      • Mass Effect: Galaxy
      • Mass Effect: Infiltrator
      • Mass Effect 3: Datapad
    • Others
      • The first level links from this tab
The long term idea is to create a portal for the trilogy using the old homepage links, as way to make links more accessible (taking a cue from the Fallout wiki). But that will be a discussion for another day.
I hope I covered everything I had in mind. What do you think of it?  teugeneTalkContr 12:08, March 18, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Aleena[edit source]

Thank you for the welcome into the community, although I believe I've had this account for almost, if not over, a year now, just haven't done anything to it.

Regarding your message left on my wall (I'm not sure if there's a way to reply to threads, barring editing them) I realized my mistake and left it at that, although there is a spelling error that I tried to resolve.

Also, I'm not sure what you mean by having feminine used as an incorrect term to describe the asari, as I had corrected it to Female, from Feminine. If that was in error, then my apologies.

Looking to Help[edit source]

Hey, I'm looking to add a lot of content for the new game as I've done on a few other wikis in the past. I'm hoping to find this is a friendly community you and the other admins are running here. I thought I should let you know that I recently had a discussion with another admin, Temporaryeditor78, and he was rather rude in his response to my concerns about a page being a bit confusing. I respect his position as an admin so I'm not about to argue with any of his decisions I just feel his response doesn't portray a very inviting picture to those of us who would like to contribute to this project. I had planned on committing a substantial amount of time to this wikia but I am thinking better of it if that's how I'll be treated by the admins. I hope we can all get along well together. AnuChemicalCo (talk) 04:27, March 24, 2017 (UTC)

Hello and welcome to the wiki! I get what you mean about the page being confusing. It's something on my mind as well and it could use a little clearer and more prominent notice on the page. We will be working on ways to improve it.
As for Temporaryeditor78, he doesn't intend to come across as rude or insulting. It's just that there will be an influx of new info in regards to ME: Andromeda, there'll be no time for pleasantries as we the admins are a little shorthanded to ensure it meets the standards of this wiki. But please don't let that put you off but stick around and contribute what you can. To help you get started, please read our Manual of Style to get a general idea of how things work around here. If you have any other questions or even suggestions on how things can improve, feel free to drop a message here at my talk page.  teugeneTalkContr 05:46, March 24, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Planet Template[edit source]

Sorry about that! It just dawned on me that I probably broke something and went back to revert but saw you already caught it. Thanks! Pinkachu (talk) 06:19, March 24, 2017 (UTC)

You're welcome and no worries about the template!  teugeneTalkContr 07:28, March 24, 2017 (UTC)

Navigation Bar[edit source]

Hello, I wanted to get your ideas about the top level navigation bar. I saw the blog post from User:Temporaryeditor78 regarding this issue and just wanted to make sure I knew what your intentions were before I continued adding content.

Do you wish to replace the game guides, as used for ME1-3, with this Super Walkthrough page? I've already setup a guide page, mission page and it looks like someone setup a combat page too. Do you want those all accessed via the Super Walkthrough page? Do you even want a guide page at all? Do you want the missions page which is used for ME1-3 to also have Andromeda missions on it? Currently the guide, mission and combat pages have no way to be accessed via the top level navigation bar, is that your intent?

I'm interested to hear your thoughts when you are able to respond. AnuChemicalCo (talk) 01:39, March 25, 2017 (UTC)

There are a lot of questions there, and if I understand correctly, they are broken down to these:
1) Do we want to a) replace the (ME:A) game guides with the Super Walkthrough page or b) make the guides accessible through the Walkthrough page instead?
As I see it, the Super Walkthrough (let's call it SW for short) page allows beginners/newcomers to quickly access some of the important pages. So, the SW does not replace the game guides but rather, it complements them (and other pages). The guides pages can continue to develop as more info from ME:A trickles in and I personally think it should be linked from the SW. On that note however, I'm not sure if the SW must be kept as it is without any other modifications (I do not know is the agreement between Wikia and EA or if it applies to the SW).
2) Adding ME:A missions on the current Missions page?
It's preferable not to have ME:A missions be added to the current Missions page as the info are from Trilogy and its tie-in app games. Moving forward, it's better to have a clean-slate and start a fresh new page for ME:A. In fact, there's already a ME:A missions page.
3) Are we making other gameplay pages accessible via the top level nav bar?
The top nav will be continually worked upon from time to time. Its current iteration is something we whipped up on the fly in lieu of ME:A's impending release. So it's not our intention to leave those links out from the top nav.  teugeneTalkContr 15:08, March 25, 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for taking the time to decipher my bunch of questions. I believe I understand now what the intent is. I'll hold off on modifying the SW page until you decide if we're supposed to be modifying it. Hopefully we can change up the navigation bar soon as there's no other way to access the guide page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by AnuChemicalCo (talk · contr).
On that note, I think it's better to talk to Temporaryeditor78 or Pinkachu for more info on the SW. They probably have a better idea about it.  teugeneTalkContr 17:24, March 25, 2017 (UTC)
Yea, I left the same note on Temporaryeditor78 talk page.

RDIcon Templates[edit source]

I created a single RD Icon template as you suggested. I don't have the priv to delete the other two templates though. I tagged them for deletion though. Also, I saw you were in chat, sorry I might have been AFK. I'm here now though. AnuChemicalCo (talk) 18:52, March 25, 2017 (UTC)

New Bureaucrat Needed[edit source]

Hey, I'm making this post on the other admins walls as well. I'd like some discussion on the forum post I made Forum:New_Bureaucrat_Needed. The wikia currently has no active bureaucrats which means no one that wants to become an admin can apply to do so. Would you be interested in taking that position? AnuChemicalCo (talk) 00:25, March 30, 2017 (UTC)

something seems to be the problem[edit source]

and it ain't my glowing administrative persona. rather, i'm seeing a spate of new users not getting our autowelcome messages lately. i'm not really sure what causes that since we haven't really messed with any backend systems that much. or did we?

might have to ask wikia in a few days if this continues. Hmm I'm not sure if I noticed it. Any particular user that the auto-welcome is not showing? The only one issue I noticed was the auto-welcome message is always signed by Elseweyr. The last edit to the auto-welcome message was to make wiki guidelines much more visible (but you already know that) and I don't think that broke anything.  teugeneTalkContr 05:35, April 17, 2017 (UTC)
Hey there! I talked with Temporaryeditor78 previously, and I discussed with him how I don't think I got the autowelcome message. Since he pointed me back to them, I made sure to read over them again, and hopefully I don't cause anymore hiccups. Anyway... do I count for a "particular user"?
Fundastraz (talk) 19:18, April 17, 2017 (UTC)
I never got an autowelcome message either. AnuChemicalCo (talk) 00:56, April 18, 2017 (UTC)
Can't be a coincidence if both of you are not receiving it. Will get a Wikia staff to look into it.  teugeneTalkContr 08:44, April 18, 2017 (UTC)
sent them a bug rep this morning, covering the autowelcome and the signatures. haven't had the time to check if this also happens on other wikis or if they're already aware of the issue, but there it is T̴̴͕̲̞̳̖̼̱͒͛̎͒ͫ̃ͧeͩ̈̽̈҉͓̝̰̼̦̫̤̀͠m̫̪̪̯̻͎̫̅̇̓̇͌̚p̸̙̝̓̓͌ͨ͆ͣͥ̂̕o͒̽͐̽͏̞̬̻͕͔͕͚̰͍͠͞ṙ̢̞͚͈̹̰ͨ̓ͭ̈́̌ạ̢̧̪̹̺̺̣̹̲͂͆̏ͪͨ͒ͭř̹͈͜͠y̷͍̻̜̹̼̾̽̈́e̵̹̼̟̦͚͐̈́͌͘d͉̲̣̻͉̱͗̅ḭ̷̻̆͋̆̓̔͝t̨͍̦̫̗͂̅̍̋̆ͩ͝ộ̫̟̬̳̝̲̾ͫ̒̿ͮ̑̚rͯ̎ͨͭ̄̿̽͛҉̠̫̱̠̘̘̲́ͅ7̩̻ͤͩͨ͝͡8̜̣̙͇̻ͨ͛͛̆͒̆̽̒͐͜͡ ͥ̍̉̃̇ͥ̓ͨ͏̕҉̥̹͓̗̤̠̖̤ (talk) 13:16, April 18, 2017 (UTC)

TempEditor78[edit source]

You've seen my pleas on other admins pages, though temp was in a rush to delete my VERY valid criticisms one is still up on Deidre's page if you need to read it again. Your last conversation with temp is VERY clear that you KNOW he is abusing his privileges and you are CHOOSING to do nothing. I do not know who Lancer is but YEARS AGO my name was Ottakanawa. I changed a few spelling errors and I made the mistake of correcting an error that was actually in the game and temp reverted my edit without warning, banne so me without warning, and was rude to me when I asked why.

I mean he clearly, temp, he clearly KNOWS because he has deleted some of the nastier things he has said to people.

Hi! Thanks for the heads up. I thought I put (skill) on all the pages, but I must have made a mistake. Also, thanks for letting me know not to capitalize the word skill. Some of my disabilities mean I have a hard time with that kind of thing, so it really helps that you pointed that out.

Suggestion[edit source]

I was going to suggest this to the Wiki's Bureaucrat but it seems like both of them have disappeared and you're the only active Admin. How about you change the wiki's display style of the category pages. If you go on this page http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Special:WikiFeatures and toggle Category Exhibition on, the category page's will have a neat image based grid you can scroll trough, like Marvel's wiki. It's much better than the text based list the wiki has right now. You'd need to become a Bureaucrat first tough, by asking on the Community Central (http://community.wikia.com/wiki/Adoption:Requests).

I can enable it as an admin. However, to enable this feature on this wiki, it's best to get the community's vote.
Personally, I prefer the text based list. In a quick glance, I can see more links in a page compared to an image grid. It works for Marvel articles because they have mainly individual characters pages that can be identified with just one thumbnail easily, unlike our articles. Appreciate your suggestion for improvement though.  teugeneTalkContr 21:42, April 24, 2017 (UTC)

Help Removing Images[edit source]

User:Nomad27 recently uploaded a bunch of very low resolution images. I've left a message on his talk page and marked all the images for deletion. Can you please help with this?AnuChemicalCo (talk) 02:40, April 30, 2017 (UTC)

I'm thinking if Nomad27 or another user could upload a new version of the image instead. With the lack of a better alternative, an image is better than none. It'll also be a bit easier than to delete the file and then remove the dead image link from the article.  teugeneTalkContr 07:01, April 30, 2017 (UTC)
Funny, something is better than nothing is the same philosophy i was taking with the adversary infobox that I tried to use. I guess this doesn't apply in that case.AnuChemicalCo (talk) 08:00, April 30, 2017 (UTC)
The difference is it's a project I worked on it and I kept it as draft until I think it's ready to be discussed in the forums. If you have any ideas you want to implement, you can create a new infobox sandbox (or duplicate from my draft), and then propose the project in the forums when you have complete it.  teugeneTalkContr 09:33, April 30, 2017 (UTC)
I'd prefer to just wait for you to finish. AnuChemicalCo (talk) 20:43, April 30, 2017 (UTC)

I'll work on fixing the images. I'll take some time. Could use some help.--Nomad27 (talk) 03:42, May 1, 2017 (UTC)

Mass Effect: Andromeda Category Page[edit source]

On the category page mentioned above there is an empty Task Category that needs to be deleted, Tasks category already makes its unnecessary. Can someone delete it? --Nomad27 (talk) 19:26, April 30, 2017 (UTC)

Got it.  teugeneTalkContr 19:29, April 30, 2017 (UTC)

Question[edit source]

I noticed you deleted things you consider not trivia. So I have a specific question. If I wanted to make an edit in a mission, about a different set of dialogue, that is dependent on previous choices, where would be the appropriate place to mention them in the article, if not in Trivia. It's not a major change, just a simple dialogue exchange. 16:15, May 4, 2017 (UTC)

see Category:Unique dialogue.
if not about/by squad members, information placement is dependent on whether walkthrough-relevant or character relevant: integration on the main body of text itself without making them stick out like a sore thumb, hence these aren't classified as trivia. left-hand infobox labels[edit source]

are you seeing too many hyphenated right-hand data on infoboxes like i do or is it a depending on screen resolution thing? i had half a mind to reduce the left-hand labels to, say,

.pi-theme-MEWiki .pi-data .pi-data-label{ flex-basis: 79px; }

and equivalent on other infoboxes since the right-hand side tends to get cramped whenever a lot of items are input there. only noticed when looking at Paul Grayson's appearances box and i was hoping there's a more elegant solution for that. T̴̴͕̲̞̳̖̼̱͒͛̎͒ͫ̃ͧeͩ̈̽̈҉͓̝̰̼̦̫̤̀͠m̫̪̪̯̻͎̫̅̇̓̇͌̚p̸̙̝̓̓͌ͨ͆ͣͥ̂̕o͒̽͐̽͏̞̬̻͕͔͕͚̰͍͠͞ṙ̢̞͚͈̹̰ͨ̓ͭ̈́̌ạ̢̧̪̹̺̺̣̹̲͂͆̏ͪͨ͒ͭř̹͈͜͠y̷͍̻̜̹̼̾̽̈́e̵̹̼̟̦͚͐̈́͌͘d͉̲̣̻͉̱͗̅ḭ̷̻̆͋̆̓̔͝t̨͍̦̫̗͂̅̍̋̆ͩ͝ộ̫̟̬̳̝̲̾ͫ̒̿ͮ̑̚rͯ̎ͨͭ̄̿̽͛҉̠̫̱̠̘̘̲́ͅ7̩̻ͤͩͨ͝͡8̜̣̙͇̻ͨ͛͛̆͒̆̽̒͐͜͡ ͥ̍̉̃̇ͥ̓ͨ͏̕҉̥̹͓̗̤̠̖̤ (talk) 07:43, May 20, 2017 (UTC)

Yeah shucks, I figured that would have caused an issue somehow. Looks like I will have to add this specifically to certain templates rather than have it applied globally. I'll have it fixed later.  teugeneTalkContr 13:56, May 20, 2017 (UTC)

Character infobox update[edit source]

I just wanted to let you know i finished updating the infobox templates on the character pages. All that remains on the list page are a couple forums and talk pages, a bunch of user pages which you asked me not to touch and the Mass Effect Wiki:Templates page which I felt best to leave alone. The Cat Master (talk) 18:21, May 23, 2017 (UTC)

Great job and thanks! There's nothing we can do about those remaining links as it'll be against wiki policy to edit them. However there are other templates which require an update as well if you're up for it. I have been wanting to update those but time is scarce for me at the moment.  teugeneTalkContr 18:42, May 23, 2017 (UTC)
No problem. I was happy to help. I am willing to work any other templates that require updating. Just let me know which ones need work. The Cat Master (talk) 20:18, May 23, 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, much appreciated. Below here are two tables that list the infoboxes and navboxes with the old name and the new name. Similar to what you've done with the Character infobox template, almost all the pages with these old templates names have not updated to the new name. To find out which pages uses the old template names, go to http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:xyz, where "xyz" is the old template name. (eg. Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Adversary)
Just like before, avoid articles that are not in the main namespace such as the User or Forum pages. Drop me a message here if you have any questions.
In case you're wondering about the reason behind this name change, you can read it at Templates naming cleanup project.

Inconsistency on Rachni Soldier page[edit source]

The article is called Rachni Soldier, but the infobox says it's called a Rachni Warrior. The term Rachni Soldier is used everywhere else on the page. I wasn't sure it the name used in the infobox was also correct. I thought I better point that out before changing the infobox. The Cat Master (talk) 17:32, May 24, 2017 (UTC)

they're labeled soldiers ingame. (edit conflict) Probably an oversight. Looking at the page history, the first person who added the infobox had it written as Rachni Warrior. Cross-check with a few videos on YouTube and they are listed as "Rachni Soldier".  teugeneTalkContr 18:03, May 24, 2017 (UTC)

botwork or what i warned you about a while ago[edit source]

there's about 566 images under the adversary categories if we're really migrating everything into the enemy_ category space. ME:A enemy infoboxes[edit source]

I noticed that an enemy infobox template for Mass Effect: Andromeda does not seem to have been finalized yet. I was not able to find a template for ME:A enemies except a draft version. Currently this kett dude has the infobox for enemies in the first Mass Effect. The Cat Master (talk) 17:09, May 25, 2017 (UTC)

Yes, it is not finalised yet but it will be implemented soon.  teugeneTalkContr 01:46, May 26, 2017 (UTC)

Andromeda weapon infobox[edit source]

For some reason the new Andromeda weapon infobox does not show up in articles after replacing the old template. (Example) For now I will keep the old infobox template until that problem can be resolved. The Cat Master (talk) 17:05, May 30, 2017 (UTC)

Never mind, I got it to work. The Cat Master (talk) 18:58, May 30, 2017 (UTC)

TemporaryEditor78[edit source]

Was gonna ask you more seriously about talking to TempEditor about his behavior and constant violation of the wiki's rules (No warnings. No reasons for reverts. Insulting people asking him why they were banned) But after looking through his talk page and edit history it is abundantly clear that he is immune from the rules AS HE HAS BEEN BREAKING THEM ON A NIGH WEEKLY BASIS FOR YEARS. Very sad. Literally hundreds of community members have been scared off and harassed by him over years with 0 repercussions. You should be ashamed. I see how you handled a recent complaint by allowing him to ban them for 'vandalism', I see he was also called out for his blatant abuse of his admin status and nothing was done. Well this is not 'vandalism' it is a valid complaint so if I am banned for sharing this with admins and nothing is done about it you're just further proving my point. 06:33, June 12, 2017 (UTC)

Just wanted to add my voice to this: "Temporary"editor78, the self-appointed Imperial Grand Dictator of Mass Effect, needs to be deposed. He regards the Fandom ME pages as his personal kingdom, and permits *nothing* to happen without his consent- and is rude, insulting and condescending to boot. Frankly, his admin powers must be stripped, because he abuses them flagrantly. Wchicklin (talk) 21:27, April 12, 2020 (UTC)

Planet, moon, asteroid, system and cluster infoboxes[edit source]

When I tried to update location infoboxes the Location autolead was missing when i replaced {{PlanetDetails}} with {{Infobox planet}}. I tested the other location infoboxes, and they too are missing the Location autolead as well when using the updated template. Were the autoleads intentionally taken out, or is there a glitch with those templates. I will hold off on updating the infobox templates in those articles for how until i get an answer. The Cat Master (talk) 16:44, June 12, 2017 (UTC)

The templates with "Details" are not Infoboxes, so you can safely ignore those. They are a just layout holder for the actual Infobox.  teugeneTalkContr 17:24, June 12, 2017 (UTC)

Infobox and Navbox updates[edit source]

I finished the updates to the aforementioned templates. I actually finished yesterday, but was debating on what to do with the planet pages. I decided I will go ahead leave them as they are since the {{Infobox planet}} template doesn't include the location details. The Cat Master (talk) 18:55, June 13, 2017 (UTC)

Thanks and great work. You can leave those "Details" templates as they are not an infobox.  teugeneTalkContr 01:36, June 14, 2017 (UTC)

Your signature[edit source]

I love the look of it! How do you do that?  [ pepoluan talk ] 15:29, June 14, 2017 (UTC)

You can see the source of my signature at User:Teugene/Sig. 19:27, June 14, 2017 (UTC)
Tip: You can add your signature as a template. To do so, I created another page at User:Teugene/SigInclude. Then at the signature settings, I added in {{SUBST:User:Teugene/SigInclude}} and tick the "I want to use wikitext in my signature" checkbox.  teugeneTalkContr 19:30, June 14, 2017 (UTC)
Awesome! Thanks for the tutorial!  [ pepoluan talk ] 08:13, June 17, 2017 (UTC)

Please Remove TemporaryEditor78's Admin status[edit source]

For six years, Temp has been harassing, insulting, scaring off, and banning community members. He is not admin material. Have MANY of his bans been rightfully done? Yes. However there are a myriad, literally hundreds of examples of where he has BLATANTLY VIOLATED the community guidelines.

Other admins have received DOZENS of requests ranging from Temp's removal, to demotion, to somebody just speaking to him. However, even when directly confronted for ONE of again HUNDREDS of violations of the community guidelines Temp was given NO consequences. He has never received any. This is wrong, and you cannot tell me it is not wrong. The guidelines are clear and YOU, another Admin was directly confronting Temp, knowing he was in the wrong. This was about a user who requested something be done about Temp by the way, Temp permanently banned them for complaining to other admins on their talk pages. It was dropped. Unacceptable.

You could EASILY go through Temp's edit history and talk pages and find MULTIPLE violations over the course of years that he didn't bother to delete. But I will provide a recent example in hopes of something actually changing. Temp insults a user and uses profane language in an edit that was made for legitimate reasons but UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE is his insult okay. AT ALL.

He does so again when questioned, absolutely unacceptable.

Temp also does not post on users talk pages to warn them, in fact he either gives no warning at all or he leaves warnings in the edit history, which NO other wikia admin I have ever seen does, and leads to unnecessary edit warring.

Often Temp will argue that he has no time to help other users or explain things fully to them 'coddle' them as he calls it, and yet he has time to type out paragraphs of insults.

Your community guidelines have very clear rules for banning and language which I will quote below.

Abusive language toward other users will also not be tolerated, particularly when it contains profanities or obscenities. When deciding how to respond to an editor's comments, consider how you would speak to a stranger face-to-face in public, as that is effectively what you are doing; if someone takes offense at your language it is best to stop. Violators will be warned, then banned for repeat violations (see below). The only time when otherwise forbidden language is permissible is when directly quoting a Mass Effect character in an article.

Banning Banning a user happens under two circumstances. A roaming user who commits a major act of vandalism but is not a contributor will have their IP address blocked for a short period of time to discourage a vandalism spree. However a regular contributor will be banned if circumstances demand it. Examples of behaviour leading to a ban include:

Repeated vandalism of pages Crude or offensive language “Editing wars” Insulting other users Editing another user’s comments or user page Impersonating another user to vandalise pages or ridicule them “Sock Puppetry” I have shown examples of crude and offensive language, Insulting other users, and TEUGENE confronting him directly about editing another user's talk page over comments concerning Temp. Temp has also been responsible for a few editing wars in which he was in the wrong.

Temp has committed infractions hundreds of times. His status as a talented editor SHOULD NOT make him immune to consequences as he has been for years.

I am sharing this to ALL active admin in hopes that something will be done, I do not think Temp should be removed from the site, only as an Admin until he can learn to show respect for others.

If nothing is done I will bring this to Wikia's staff attention directly, I have more than enough reason to do so and it could very well result in the removal of several admins as this is clear favoritism. Thank you and good day. 04:25, June 18, 2017 (UTC)

Seconded. This wiki will continue to suck as long as TE78's reign continues. Wchicklin (talk) 21:28, April 12, 2020 (UTC)

Resource Icons[edit source]

Is there an icon in particular you can point to with this tilt? I've been looking at a random selection of them I don't see one with a substantial tilt. The ones I've opened don't appear to be tilted by more than one degree. AnuChemicalCo (talk) 22:14, June 19, 2017 (UTC)

Duplicate ME2 N7 Assignments[edit source]

Hello Teugene,

Thank you for your help with my edits on the N7: Mining the Canyon page.

I was wondering if you could please take a look at the Mass Effect 2 Assignments topic. I'm currently trying to complete all of those myself, but I'm finding it very hard to keep track of which missions I have already completed due to the duplicate assignments listed.

Could this section in particular be looked at? I think the duplicate missions are fine for ME1 (since they do in fact change names), but I think it's too confusing for new ME2 players.

Thanks for your time.

1. On the Invventory page I posted the locations of the puzzles for the Cryptographer achievement. You removed it one hour later because "Not to rain on your parade, but this info is out of place in the Inventory page. Better suited to the Achievements page/guide." I put it on the Inventory page becasue their is no Achievements page. However, there is one for the original ME triology. As the wiki keeps those three together and separate from MEA, the latter needs an achievements page of its own, preferable accessible from the drop-down list. The same rationale can be used for weapons, armor, and more.

2. Earlier I suggest that the Inventory page was renamed to "Others" or something more genral so that there is a place for everything not fitting the very few links in the drop-down list for MEA: "Inventory is misleading for a page that sseems to collect all that is not covered in the pulldown list. We need Crafting, AVP, etc." Your reason for denying that was "page can have categories for that linking to Crafting-page ..". Why are you referring to non-existing links? The is no MEA Crafting-page and no page linking to any crafting page.

I have put some effort into updating the mission guides becasue they were inaccurate (often because of patches), incomplete, or missing.

So, if nothing is done to create logical places for other info than Profiles, Skills, Combat, Mission, Inventory, and Romance, it seems pointless for me to try to publish other information I have ready, e.g. crafting, merchant inventories depending on Cryo Pods, what loot drops from remnant, containers etc.

During my many play-throughs of ME1, ME2, and ME3 (5 - 8 for each) the ME wiki have been a valuable help when I have got stuck (The Suicide mission - yeah). Thanks to all contributors!

However, the wiki's part for MEA still needs work to reach the ME1-ME3 level of completeness and logical structure.

New Infobox Help Request[edit source]

Hey Teugene, I need your help with creating a new infobox. I saw you had created a forum project to update all of the infoboxes in the 2017 so I figured you would be the best person to ask.

Mostly I can copy what others have done (or a quick websearch will give me the info I need) to build what I need but I'm WAY out of league though on infoboxes. I'd like to create an infobox to use on individual augmentations pages. (I created the main page today and mocked up one page Automatic Fire System as an example. I will continue making pages in the days to come).

I uploaded images today and tried to modify an existing infobox to use on my individual pages. When I use the infobox weapons (Andromeda), the pic gets blown up huge. From what I've read, I have to create a new infobox and specify the image size to be smaller. The existing infoboxes are file name only (no [ [File:) and I'm unable to change the size with the usual tricks.

The new infobox could use a smaller photo "footprint" and from what I've read it would always display all photos smaller. I'm looking for the augmentation pic to display about 1.25" ~75px. A decent size but not 9 feet tall so that you can see each individual pixel. :)

I've put a mockup of the all of info below but I'm unable to do the picture sizing. From what I've learned, you can code the pic how you'd like for it to display but I know very little about coding. Instead of taking hours and hours with a bunch of undos blundering through creating pages I can't delete without admin help, can you help me create the infobox?

{ {Infobox augmentations (Andromeda)
|title =
|image =
|rarity =
|aug_type =
|rd_cost =
|tech_type =
} }

title = Name of Augmentation
image = Name of the image file. Do not include File link ([ [File:] ])
rarity = Common, Uncommon, Rare, Ultra Rare
aug_type = General, Gun Behavior, Gun Fire Type, Gun Projectile, Mod Slots, Special
rd_cost = (cost number, 50, 100, 200 etc)
tech_type = Milky Way, Heleus, Remnant

{ {Infobox augmentations (Andromeda)
|title = Shield Oscillator
|image = MEA Shield Oscillator.png
|rarity = Uncommon
|aug_type = Special
|rd_cost = 50
|tech_type = Milky Way
} }

Thanks for your help in advance. -- GS877 (talk) 05:15, February 28, 2018 (UTC)

Teugene, I'm going to give it a shot. I may butcher it horribly. Please feel free to edit it once I have made the infobox template. I'm a blind man, on a dark night, in a pitch black cave, trying to find my way. :) -- GS877 (talk) 18:18, February 28, 2018 (UTC)
I used duct tape, bailing wire, and paper mache to cobble it together. Found something online but that didn't work completely right and then I modified it. (Then 15 times more) Then just shaved a little bit off the rough edges and it works somehow. I got no idea. I understand the concept, but WOW am I out of my league. Feel free to fix the code to work better.
The code requires the user to have to manually set the left margin in the infobox based on the image size. I couldn't get the auto code to work that I found to put the image in the middle. (Some kind of punctuation error. You can see the history versions to see the code if you like). As this infobox is for the exact same image size and only augmentation pages, I'm leaving it alone. Murphy's Law of Combat - "If it's stupid but it works, it's not stupid." :)
Now I'm off to create the pages. -- GS877 (talk) 19:45, February 28, 2018 (UTC)
Hello GS8777, nice to meet you. Sorry for the late reply. Have been out of touch with the wiki (family and work, usually RL stuff!), but I'll see what I can do to help. If I understood your request correctly, you need the augmentation infobox image to a max width of 75px?  teugeneTalkContr 17:21, March 1, 2018 (UTC)
Hi Teugene, the infobox I created looks exactly like I wanted it to look (right width, right size, right categories, right text, etc) BUT the code might be "messy". :) If you know a way to code it properly (if I did it wrong), please feel free to update that code so that it is "the right way". I know there is no official way to code things but there are good practices and not so good ones. I am VERY new to coding. :) Thanks for looking into this for me. -- GS877 (talk) 18:25, March 1, 2018 (UTC)
